10 missed FTs. 2 fuckin points the last 8 minutes of the game, including overtime. Manu was the only one who played like he didn't have a pair of testicles jammed in his throat. Bogut destroyed Duncan. And Parker proved his last game was a fluke and he still ain't close to the superstar he needs to be for this team to have any chance at a Finals berth.

The Lakers could've beaten Golden State tonight.

Now these bums forced themselves into a must win situation, when conditions were absolutely perfect for a blowout win. Curry hobbled. Bogut in foul trouble all game. Manu finally showing up.

Unacceptable to lose this game.

I dont know what it is.

The whole team is stinking it up from the line. Not unlike the Spurs at all. They always hit their freethrows.

Oh well they just have to regroup and be more assertive. Spurs proved they can win in Oakland relatively with ease so they can still close them out in 6.

They're simply not good enough to sweep a team like Golden State. They were lucky to play the biggest failure in NBA history the first round led by one the mentally weakest players in the league (Howard). That matchup definitely made them look better than they are.

Basketball is a young man's game. The Spurs had zero legs late in the game. Pop should've stuck with Splitter a bit longer before bringing in TD, should've given a few more minutes to Joseph. Even if the Spurs make it out of this round, the Grizzlies and their physical game will wear them out.

Tim overvalues his jump shot. He hits the front of the rim more often than not. He's too indecisive when he gets the ball, should I drive or shoot I shoot. It often causes him to second guess and miss. Chip should have worked with Tim on his shot to deep 6 that horrible line drive shot.

Main thing that bothered me was Bonner and Neal still being in the rotation..between Splitter/Duncan/Diaw and Green/Leonard/Ginobili there's more than enough people to fill the bigs and wings rotation without having to waste minutes on those scrubs..don't really agree with a lot of these stat geeks on a lot of things but one things but one thing is that the minutes in the 2nd and 3rd quarter are just as valuable as the ones in the fourth..

Outside of Neal and to an extent Parker I dont see how you're tagging the whole team as stupidest.

Manu makes a ton of ill advise passes but that's just the way he plays so you always expect at least 5 TOs from him. But the good thing is that Manu makes up for it so it evens out.

Duncan doesn't play against Kirby down in the post. Dwight is in his prime and Gasol is 5 years younger. Those two make up what was supposed to be this super incredible frontline.

And they let a 37 year old man shred them.

And lol at you making excuses. Kirby brought that injury on himself by playing so many minutes because he wanted all the credit for leading the Lakers into the playoffs.

Learning too much from Kobe, I guess.

Choked a 3-1 series lead to the Suns.

Choked to the heavy underdog Boston Celtics in '08, which included choking away a 24 point lead at home. An NBA record.

Swept by the Dallas Mavericks, who were a heavy underdog in the series.

Choked the entirety of this year. The Lakers were essentially a lock for the Finals, but found themselves fighting for a playoff spot all year, which forced them to play desperate in the 2nd half of the season, causing the team to play way too many minutes, leading to injuries.

Lucky for Kobe, he snuck in a couple of ships when the NBA was at its weakest point in the 00s.

Honestly, brother, there's no more irritating thing than when your team gives away a game. Not capitalizing when their best interior defender is on the bench. Missed FTs. Scoring 2 points in 10 fuckin' minutes. I can live with shit like game 2, when a team just steps up and takes it from you with a great performance, but Golden State was playing D-league level basketball and the Spurs obliged by playing even worse.

So there's bound to be some overreaction and pissed off fans.

'99.

Swept the Lakers, who would be the champions next year.

Swept the Blazers, who were a 4th quarter chokejob away from beating those Lakers.

'03.

Beat the 3 time defending champions.

'05.

Beat the Pistons, who destroyed Kobe and his Hall of Fame supporting cast a year prior.

'07.

Rather weak, no arguments.

'09 Lakers.

Taken to 7 games by a Rockets team without Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady

Beat the :lolrlando Magic led by the guy who scored 7 points against a 37 year old.

'10 Lakers.

Beat the broken down version of the SSOL Suns the prime Spurs used to destroy.

Taken to 7 games by a 50 win Boston team filled with senior citizens.

If Kobe rang in '08, that would've been an all-time great run, but he choked.

Actually when you look back, it shows his greatness. In 08 if he played better in that 2nd half of game 4 they might win the series and he could have 6 rings, or if the Lakers played close to their potential in 04 he could have 7 rings. 2011 he was injured and his team was just done anyways but I remember them choking a 16 point lead in seconds during game 1, so even injured and coming off b2b rings and b2b2b finals they still had a chance and that is not that bad. In 06 if Kwame boxed out or played D in that last possesion the Lakers move on and Kobe could have had a GOAT type run that year. But 5 rings is 5 rings and he will always be in the same breath as MJ, Magic, Kareem, and others.

But let's be civil for a moment (then chaos can ensue): The Spurs regained home court. They won on the road. Not that home court seems to matter now, but in the grand scheme of things, the Spurs can likely play no worse. The Warriors did what the Spurs did, but with less of a comeback and only one OT. Still started at about 4 minutes left. Tbh, 8 points is a big lead at all and anyone who thinks it's time to start milking the clock with 4 minutes to go only up 8 is having delusions of adequacy.

So they lost in OT. One team went on a run for that limited time of the OT. Had that been a full quarter, perhaps the Spurs would have responded with their own run. It's about who strikes last and it was them. Now it's back to SA

I do wonder, though, why not all teams play the same 48 hour schedule. What am I missing?

2001

Swept Western Conference 11-0

Won NBA Finals 4-1 to finish an NBA Playoff record 15-1.

Let's not forget that.

Yeah, yeah, and if Duncan isn't injured in '00, if Derek Fisher doesn't hit the luckiest shot in NBA history, and if Manu isn't a complete retard in '06, Duncan could have 7 rings.

We can play that game all day.

If you're going by regular season MVPs then you have to say that Nash was a better player than Kobe in 06 and Dirk was better than Kobe in 07.

Finals MVPs need context. Kobe played with Shaq. Check Shaq's Finals MVP numbers. God would struggle to win a FMVP in 00-02. Duncan aka lost FMVP to Parker wouldn't have a chance either.

And this whole bullshit about "Pau never winning a playoff game without Kobe" is just that. Bullshit.

His first playoff appearance in '04, he played the played the Spurs, who were peaking, entering the playoffs on an 11 game winning streak and looking unbeatable. In the closeout game, he scored 22 points on 10-15 shooting. How can you blame him? Other than game one, he had a solid series.

His second playoff appearance in '05, he played the '05 Suns, another peaking team who many were picking to come out the Western Conference. He averaged 22, 7.5, and 1.8 blks on .488 shooting. Can't blame him.

His third playoff appearance in '06, he played the '06 Mavericks. A 60 win team who, as we know, made the Finals. Scored 25 points on 9-19 shooting.

And most recently, he saw his whole team quit on him, including that overrated chimp Laker fans and the Lakers FO are ready to blow to keep him in LA.

Pau is a great player, and it's unfair to downplay his accomplishments and talent to prop up Kobe.

'00 Finals:

Yeah, I'm sure Duncan would struggle to eclipse that.

'01 Finals:

Kobe: 24.6ppg, 7.8rpg, 5.8apg on .41 shooting. Duncan's bettered that line multiple times in the Finals.

Duncan against that Nets team:

Duncan: 20ppg, 14rpg, 2apg, 2bpg, .419 shooting.

He was terrible in game one. Shot over 50 percent in every game after.

In the games where Pau shot over 20 shots, he had 28 points both times.

22 points per game on near .50 shooting is solid for a young big in his second ever playoff series. The games in which he was kept below 20 shots were blowouts, with him playing 26 minutes and 32 minutes respectively. So your pace argument in this instance fails. How do you figure that?

I just showed you Duncan outperforming Kobe when they've played the same teams, all which featured Kobe in his "prime." What makes you suddenly think Duncan isn't going to outperform him against that Sixers' team? That's an average line (for a prime superstar, as you claim him to be at that time) aside from the rebounds. His points-per-game would be great, but he needed 21 shots to average 24 points. Not the best efficiency. Also worth mentioning is that he didn't shoot over 50% in a single game that series.

And? We're talking about Finals MVPs. Not Western Conference playoff MVPs, which there's no award for. Winning the Western Conference Finals doesn't win you the title. And funny as it seems, Philly was actually the toughest matchup that year. They actually managed to win a game and didn't get blown out every game like the Spurs. And who was it that stepped up most against the 2nd best team in the league that year? Shaq.

And it's funny how you ALWAYS bring up '01. That's the only instance of Kobe ever playing like a true superstar in the playoffs when he was alongside Shaq, so I understand why you do it. What can I say?

Other than that, Kobe has only broken 44% shooting once in the playoffs when he played with Shaq.

Lol, he needs a stacked team to do anything..what's contradictory about that?..and how many top 15 players miss the playoffs and/or had losing records in their prime?..serious question..go check..

and Gasol too right? The" real" leader.

Yes Gasol was the leader of the Grizz team who made the playoffs 3 time while the great Mamba didn't in one of those years.

'09, '10 Gasol? Do I need to explain? Mid said it all already. :lol

So you're saying he wasn't the best player in the league then?

Yep.

No one considered Kobe the best player in the league in '05. That was one of this worst years as a starter.

During the regular season, perhaps, but don't Lakers fans :lol regular season?

'06 Playoff stats:

Kobe (against the no defense playing Suns): 27.9ppg (7 points below his season average. Huge dropoff. Further proving his 35 regular season PPG was more stat padding than it was legit), 6.3rpg, 5.1apg, 1.0spg, 4.7TO on .497 shooting.

Wade (played defensive minded teams like the Pistons and a 60 win Mavs team in the Finals, who were also great defensively under Avery): 28.2ppg, 5.9rpg, 5.7apg, 2.2spg, 3.9TO on .497 shooting.

'07:

I'm tired of typing all this bullshit out, so I'm using PER (deal with it):

Kobe: 24.1 (another first round exit)

Duncan: 27.2 (won the title)

I just posted 7-22 (Duncan's FG% this game) and Mid brought up Kobe lol

No I didn't.

I responded with "swept" to your 7-22. And you responded back with Kobe 4-1 vs. the Spurs in the playoffs.

I wasn't even thinking about Kirby since he's irrelevant until you brought him up and reignited my passion for slapping the shit out of Kobe fanboys.

Kobe was the best player in 06-08. Coaches, GMs, players all agree. There's video of them saying it. Wade and Lebron were calling Kobe the best in 08 and 09. LMAO at Duncan in 07 LOLOLOL Fucking idiot.

That's because he played in the East. Check his team's W-L the first 3 years. All below .500. And don't tell me he wasn't in his prime. He was averging 35-37 ppg back then, had his highest ppg season of his career during the time.

:lol Opinions of "basketball people."

You cares what "they" say, the stats and performances clearly show Wade was superior to Kobe in '06. The stats clearly show AGAIN Duncan was superior to Kobe. Stop being preoccupied with PPG.

Kobe was probably the best player in '08, but his Finals meltdown might prove otherwise. After that it's been Lebron's league (although I think Dirk temporarily stole that title from him in '11).

Yeah your Kobe hatred just blinds you from thinking straight. Kobe dropped 62 in 3 quarters, outscoring the team by himself vs the same team Wade was going to the FT line in the Finals.

What happened in the playoffs?

No one gave a shit about David Robinson's 71 point game or quad double when he got toasted in the playoffs.

Here's where you say Kobe had no help.

Closeout game 5 against the Suns:

Kobe: 34 points on 13-33 shooting with 6 TOs.

Odom: 33 points on 12-21 shooting, 10 boards.

Kobe also had only one assist. He wasn't getting other players involved.
