Mark Jackson puts his hands (and other stuff) on a 20 year old stripper eight years ago (he was married at the time). He calls the FBI on her when she and an accomplice try to extort money from him a couple of years ago.

Mark Jackson is a piece of garbage and isn't even a real coach.

I'm sorry SA is staggering through this series. They blew a great chance to shut up the fake preacher Jackson. Too bad scumbags like Mark Jackson get accolades for winning a few basketball games. He is a loser of the highest order.

I hate Mark Jackson. cocky player, horrible announcer, and now he is like an ESPN version of a coach, saying generic shit while an assistant is drawing up plays.

I hate bringing the God argument into this, it's basically his way of saying "hey, we're the good guys, they're the bad guys". the media will eat it up because they are bored with the Spurs.

btw, did you hear that he had his fucking wife sing the national anthem again? the man's ego is out of control.

Agree.

When you really look at it, we are painted as the villains. We wear black. We never seem to die. Our "boring" play always beats out "exciting" play. The media really likes to paint this picture.

It's really ironic though. We do things the right way, we don't have any loud boisterous players, and are in a small market. You'd think we could be marketable as the little guys that always find a way to compete. But no, we are equated to an evil empire that needs to be eliminated.

I think Jackson was just using the word "God" the way one might use the word "fate."

If anything, it was an expression of humility, as if saying I don't know how we did it, but we did.

If we're gonna get so literal that we venture into theological criticism of statements made in the heat of a sporting contest, we got a lotta "splaining to do" given the similar statements some of our past icons.

Jackson has a very young team and seems to believe that if he can get them to believe that God gives a hoot about a basketball game that they will play above their level.

From a psychology standpoint, he may be right.

But that must mean that he really doesn't believe that they have the superior skills. And he is right in that assessment.

They have Mark Jackson and the whole GS team praising God after every game.
Well if that's the case, we have David Robinson and pastor Max Lucado interceding for us, devoted Christians who love their beloved San Antonio Spurs....SO if it really came down to that, we would also have a reason to say we also have God looking over our team smh

HOWEVER, I think all of that is irrelevant in sports.
That's why I agree with all of you, leave the "GOD" part out of the picture. It will come down to effort, heart and execution, regardless of the players or coaches' faith.

And I personally have no problem with athletes giving glory to God after games, but just don't use it as an excuse to say you won because God is in your side, that's just not right. :nope

Ray Allen sums up how I feel about God being brought into the discussion:

"I've argued this with a lot of people in my life,'' Allen said. "When people say God blessed me with a beautiful jump shot, it really pisses me off. I tell those people, 'Don't undermine the work I've put in every day.' Not some days. Every day. Ask anyone who has been on a team with me who shoots the most. Go back to Seattle and Milwaukee, and ask them. The answer is me -- not because it's a competition but because that's how I prepare."

My views regarding the stain on human existence that is all religion notwithstanding, he's got the right idea.

I hate that fucker with a passion but he's got a point. Kindof ironic, though, considering he played a character named Jesus, lol. The one thing that gets me about religious athletes or coaches is that whenever they say God helped them, is that they're basically insinuating that their God favors certain groups over others. Doesn't that philosophy go against their faith? Oh well, it's all bullshit, any ways, they just can't see it.

Same here GrandeDavid. Nothing wrong with faith in God. That's a wonderful thing. However that does not mean his team will win. But it does mean God will be with him in this life and in the next. Maybe he changed for the better or maybe he's faking it. If Mark is fake than Jesus will judge Him. Spurs have a history of faith with David Robertson. They also have a history as the nice guy team. We don't know if God has a team or doesn't but there is nothing wrong with having faith in Him.

When I saw those two threes rim out for them, I wondered what Jackson was thinking at the time. That seemed a lot more like divine intervention than did the officials making poor calls.

God smacked those 12 year old wunderkinds right out tha playoffs. The Spurs were merely instruments in his divine plan tbh.

Naw, even if Barnes head exploded when he hit the floor, Jackson would just say that "god works in mysterious ways" blah blah blah like they always do, and go on like nothing happened.

Lol. It would be funny if one day, we have Mark Jackson and Manu Ginobili in a studio debating this. how do such buffoons get to become coaches, beats me.

Of all the things I'm pissed about today, this is not one of them.

Besides, God just told me he likes Spurs in 6.

Good call by God. Has HE given you a line on the grizz series?
