One of the GOAT... I will cry when he retires... I can't imagine the NBA without him. Wilt, Shaq, Magic... that just shows the company he's in. GOAT GONNA GOAT.

So, question is, can Timmy break it? He'll get a few more this year and will top Wilt, but will he bay able to top Magic? I wouldn't count on it but it's very possible.

I was so fortunate to be 13 when San Antonio drafted Duncan. I got to watch him my whole teenage years and young adult years. Truely the best I have ever seen other than MJ.

Only 14 to go, and he's got two years left on his contract.

A legend among legends, that is Tim Duncan. I mean, look at that historical significance! 3 Lakers, 1 Celtic? TD is awesomely among the greatest of all-time!

I have a feeling that the final year will be a buyout. I honestly think next year will be the last year for Timmy, Ginobili, and Pop. I've dreamed for years that the Spurs will win a championship in Duncan's last year. I can just imagine the Spurs winning it at home, and with 3 minutes left and the game obviously over, Pop calls a sub timeout for Duncan. I could only imagine the crowd and how loud it'd be. There would certainly be tears as the crowd watches Timmy walk off of the court for the last time. I know I'll cry, my favorite athlete ever.

I'm right there with you. Born and raised in Eugene, OR. My older brother became a fan of David Robinson when he was drafted, that's still has favorite athlete ever. The Blazers were punks so my brother wanted a good role model. Of course being such a huge fan of the Admiral, he became a huge fan of the Spurs. Being very young, I of course started to follow because my older bro and father were big Spurs fans. Then I was 8 when Duncan was drafted, instant love right there. He has always my role model and favorite athlete. Very fitting to have two brothers, with the older being a fan of the Admiral and the younger being a fan of Duncan. To this day we still wear our jerseys when we play pickup basketball. So great to see Duncan amongst the names of legends like these, he truly deserves it.

Kareem was a great scorer but never rebounded consistently

I always tell people, it's easy much easier to achieve greatness and win when you played for the old Celtics or any version of the Lakers..

Duncan has achieved greatness for a franchise that doesn't attract free agents and doesn't want to spend money..a franchise that didn't win before him and possibly won't win after him, tbh..people need to remember that when they are ranking players..

It's always being a shock to me that players wouldn't want to go play along side Tim Duncan, he's a great teammate and he's not selfish. I think it has a lot to do with the money, spurs don't spend much on anyone ever.

Lot of 7-9 rebound games the last half of his very long career

Yeah as others have said, Kareem wasn't very physically imposing post-1980. That's really when he became a finesse player. I can see him getting boxed out by guys a lot shorter but wider than him. Young Kareem, on the other hand, was a rebounding beast. I guess you could say he went soft at some point.

Tim Duncan is a symbol of my adulthood, meaning he has been in the NBA for my entire adult life. I was 17 when he was drafted, which was the summer between my junior and senior years of high school. Hands down, the great player of the post-Jordan era!!

I've always thought the criteria for ranking players all-time should be where they'd get drafted in a hypothetical all-time draft if the GM knew everything about the player/person they'd be in the NBA. Drafting Tim Duncan essentially guarantees you 17 years of post scoring, elite defense, and exceptional basketball IQ. He'll be the best player on the planet for around 5 of those years, never have an issue with teammates, and no drama in the media or off-the-court issues. He'll also allow his coach to yell at him, and take whatever role his team needs him to.

That level of consistency and performance on both ends of the court, for that long, is extremely rare. I think that using that criteria he only falls behind Jordan, Russell, Wilt, and possibly Kareem. I think he is in the same tier as Magic, Bird, and Kobe with his longevity probably giving him an edge over the first two and his lack of drama giving him the edge over the latter.

I think he is the best big man to ever play. He had/has it all. Offense, defense, and the ability to make his teammates better. That, and he has done it consistantly for 16 years!

I took a photo off my 120" projector screen last night, then Instagrammed it. I like how it starts to fade away when you get to Shaq lol.

I know what you mean by "win" (a championship), but if you broaden your definition of win, just a little, then Duncan is the perfect superstar for the Spurs. This franchise, just wins. Consistently. We have missed the playoffs only 5 times in 46 years.
