Time to call the WCF series result...

I'm 1-1 in predictions so far... and since we're playing with house money and I'm liking the D against a team that has trouble scoring as it is, I'm going with the gutsy, full homer pick: calling Spurs in cinco...

Didn't you predict the Spurs would sweep the Grizzlies last year before they choked game 7 against the Clippers?

The Grizzlies sucked last year though. Randolph was broken and Gay was a terrible fit. Add Arenas, subtract Arthur, etc. ... and that was just a bad Grizzlies team last year.

Much as I like the addition of Prince, the Grizzlies are still missing some key pieces. They are a great team, but I think the Spurs are playing better basketball right now. Thanks to Golden State. When you have to get used to the opponent making those ridiculous shots and still win the game, then I think Memphis is in for a world of hurt.

The Spurs offense worries me right now. They just can't seem to put together a good string of games offensively. They are still too Tony Parker reliant, and that is too easy to shut down. Plus, Parker can't seem to get healthy. Right now, I'd have to take Memphis in 6. They are playing extremely consistent right now. They have all the tools to win the championship this year.

If the Spurs can find some offensive rhythm, I think they could sweep the Grizzlies and ultimately win the whole thing. Until I see some of that consistency from early in the year, I can't pick them to beat elite teams like Memphis and Miami.

I guess I don't blame you for being snakebit about the Spurs' health in the last few years, but methinks you were watching with someone who was saying "Oh my God, look how he's limping" and got overly caught up in that. The Spurs aren't playing their best, but they're doing everything necessary, rebounding, limiting turnovers, assists to allow them to win most of the time, and to be close even in the worst scenarios. They match up really well with Memphis, can score inside, hit their free throws, and rebound. They're deeper and more talented, and they don't have to shoot or hit a lot of threes in order to keep the game close. Memphis' offense looked lethargic against an OKC team waving the white flag at them. The Spurs will score 85 point by accident in this series.

And please stop drinking the DPOY Koolaid. Gasol's the second best defender on his own team.

Unfinished Grizzness, tbh.

Memphis is scary but flawed. Gasol and Randolph punked us once but this is a different stage. No shooters to depend on, no elite wings to take over games, bench is versatile but inexperienced. If Conley beats us offensively like he did against OKC, then we deserve to lose. Force Gasol to have huge games, because he ain't carrying this team offensively.

Assuming we can move the ball and make the right adjustments to their very traditional defensive approach, Spurs in 5.

:lol Fuck it, I'm changing mine. The Warriors series might not have been so physical... but I think it's going to help with The Spurs' fitness and athleticism in this upcoming series. We can make the fat-ass Grizzlies chase us around the court nonstop, and wear them the fuck out, laughing our asses off the whole time. We could just surprise and ambush the shit outta' them whenever--It would be toooo damn funny. We could definitely control the pace with a faster tempo as well, if we wanted to. I really do think that The Warrior series was a blessing for us. Add that to the revenge factor we have towards that garbage overrated team, and they should be fucked. Karma... is a bitch. I won't call sweep, because I know that The Grizz will have to put on at least one dog and pony show for their annoying-ass homecrowd... but I'll go ahead and say Spurs in 5. Those dirty ass, bastard-vulture-scrubs don't deserve a game 6 from us like The Warriors got, IMHO. FUCK 'EM!!!

too many ? to call this serie imho.
Two main factors: TP health (Conley gives a healthy TP a lot of trouble, imagine that banged up) and Duncan form (GS serie Duncan and we are fucked).

IMO...whoever wins game 1 takes the series. Both teams will be rested. Both teams firing on all cylinders. Both teams want to have a 1-0 lead and say...try and beat us 4 out of the next 6. You gotta remeber in 2011 Grizz took game 1 in San Antonio and that set the tempo. Spurs win game 1....Spurs win the series.

Memphis played a flawed Clippers team that was in a funk. OKC less Westbrook and two of the losses perhaps OKC should've won. Um, what? The Spurs have a darn good chance to and, in fact, SHOULD beat Memphis.

The Clippers were red hot going into the playoffs. I think they were on a 7-game win streak.

One of the things that's gotta concern you about Memphis is their mental toughness.

They went down 0-2 to the Clips then won four in a row.

They went down 0-1 to the Thunder then won four in a row.

Meh, they could've just as easily been 1-1 against the Clippers and 2-0 against OKC when they went back to Memphis. Nothing against their mental fortitude, but they prolly had plenty of confidence in both situations and if anything knew they fucked up. If the spurs manage to go 2-0 against them and make the wins decisive, they may show some cracks.

Yep. I can see downplaying their win against the Thunder, but they beat a tough Clippers team that was playing really well. And, as you said, it was after they went down 0-2.

Spurs in 6 but could easily be 5, depends on if the Spurs hit there shots but they'll get looks. Memphis beat a short handed OKC team but they weren't blowouts and if Durant could have hit shots than they would have taken the series. We have enough scoring to equal there output and more and a defense that can show up.

Spurs in 7.

I could see it being shorter in the Spurs favor though.

I think we've got probably the best and most versatile frontline to deal with Zach and Marc. Zach killed us in '11 but I honestly don't see him having that kind of a efficiency this time around. Diaw/Splitter are both excellent one-on-one defenders that I think will make life as difficult as anyone can for him. Gasol is just a beast. I really don't know if there's anybody outside of Dwight Howard that has the length and size to give him any trouble. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Baynes but on him at times, but who knows. I think the biggest key will be limiting Conley though. If Conley is taken out of his game, where do the Grizz get enough offense?

Time to call the WCF series result...

I'm 1-1 in predictions so far... and since we're playing with house money and I'm liking the D against a team that has trouble scoring as it is, I'm going with the gutsy, full homer pick: calling Spurs in cinco...

I feel the same way. It was really only those dual sharp-shooters that were making life difficult for us with the Warriors. If we can match Gasol-Bo, we should clean up fine in 4 of 5 games.

The spurs need to badly use their ball movement in this series. If we continue to abuse the ineffective Duncan/Parker pick and pop we're doomed.

I say Memphis in 6.

Memphis is playing more of a team right now than the spurs.

The Spurs havnt faced any real playoff adversity while Memphis has.

Clippers are no joke now and despite not having Westbrook and Harden, the Thunder are still a tough match-up. Memphis has battled a much tougher road to the WCF than we have. No matter how you look at it, Memphis is a true battle-tested team and I wouldn't be surprised if they take it in 6.... But we have Pop... I'm in no way comparing myself to an NBA coach, and certainly not near the caliber of Pop, but I think he has a plan and its quite simple when it comes to Memphis.

Memphis has a much tougher and level-headed front court than L.A. had but their perimeter shooters are dismal compared to our gunners. I'm not saying they are the weakened Lakers team that we played in the first round, but if we can clog the paint and limit Gasol and Randolph on easy buckets and make the rest of their roster try to beat us, we have a good chance of winning. The important people we need to show up in this series are our big men on the defensive end.... that means playing physical defense and fighting for defensive boards. We cant allow 2nd, 3rd, or 4th shots like we did with the Warriors. Tiago is going to have to step up BIG TIME in this series.

I honestly believe if we can control the paint on the defensive end at least to an extent, we can win this series... We have a roster full of shooters, they will have to be on their mark for us to win though. Make Conley, Allen and Prince have to beat us, take Gasol and Randolph out of the game as much as possible.

I BELIEVE!!! Spurs in 6.
