The Grizzlies have only score over 92 points 6 of 11 games, and only barely cracked the 92 point mark 2 of those 6. They only reached 100 points 4/11 games. 3 of those were against the Clippers.

The Spurs' defense is better than LA's and at least as good as OKC's. The Grizzlies' only averaged 93.4 PPG in the reagular season too (27th). I think this bodes well for the Spurs if they're healthy. The Grizzlies' offense might not be good enough to compete even if they somewhat contain the Spurs' offense consistently.

A shitty game for the Spurs is about 90 points. For them that's practically their average.

Their average PPG this postseason is inflated because they played the bad D-having Clippers in the first round (I mentioned most of their scoring was against the bad defensive LAC squad).

They only averaged 93.6 PPG against the Thunder, and 3 of their 5 games against them were under 92 points, which means both the median and mode for their scoring was below 92. . . which is more important than just the mean (the average).

We're more comparable with the Thunder's defense than LAC's defense. We only gave up 0.1 more PPG than the Thunder this season and our defensive rating was better. So I'd expect closer to that 93 1/2 PPG the Thunder gave up than the 100 PPG the Clippers gave up. Though even the soft Clippers held them to a 92 PPG average for their first 3 games before cracking under the playoff pressure.

If Pop doesn't panic and start doubling since game 1 again...

Doubling isn't that big a deal against a roster that can't shoot threes.

You have to double of the right guys. Back in '11 I remember we were doubling of Battier and Mayo and that killed us. Even non three point threats like Sam Young and Conley were killing us. Even for a bad three point shooter consistent wide open looks is not a good idea.

The Spurs are playing at a Defensive Rating (point allowed per 100 possession) of 96.2 in the postseason and the Grizzlies are playing at a 99.9.

The Spurs won't have it easy scoring +92 ppg vs the Grizzlies.

And if Battier or Mayo or Young were still there, I'd be in agreement with you. I think you see the point I was making now. :)

Solid stats tbh, especially when one of the two teams we faced was Golden State which were near the top of the league in scoring efficiency.

Now they're 8-0. Like I said. . .the Grizzlies will struggle to score 92+ each game. Even though the Spurs' offense sucked for the entire 2nd and 3rd quarters, they still won comfortably.

yeah 8-0

Honestly, you can throw the shooting out the window. We're going to be in EVERY game where we are holding the Grizz to 72 points with 5 minutes left.

Make it 9-0. And the Grizz have now scored under 92 in 8 of their 13 playoff games.

Again the record holds true! 10-0 now.

Spurs' averaged 98.75 points per game this series (93 average in regulation)

Spurs' held the Grizzlies to just 87.75 points per game (85 in regulation).

Pop's defenvise plan for the series was to frustrate Z-Bo, since Gasol is hard to stop

They were physical with him, outhustled him for postioning down low, rotated effectively, blitzed, the whole nine yards
