Whats non-Spurs fan's opinion of Kawhi Leonard? Spurs fans are obviously excited about him (:lol Scottie Pippen comparisons)..who would you compare him to? Some say Shawn Marion.. i agree with the rebounding.. ability to defend/play multiple positions. But hes less athletic but more skilled offensively.. although Marion's athleticism allowed him to be a better scorer. Whats his ceiling..

Great rebounder
Good athleticism
Great wing defender (can be exposed for footwork against quicker/smaller guards)
Good overall skill level
Underated post game
Good 3 point shooter
Developing mid range game
21 years old

Even though I'm a spurs fan, I'd say his best scenario is "2nd banana to a very good starplayer on a contender"...with the only problem beeing, that SA might not get this starplayer once TP and Timmy retire.

I just don't see him as a 1st banana...even though I love him as a player.

Hes Shane Battier/Tony Allen tbh.

Second Option on a contending team. I can see him averaging 21-7 on a pretender team, or shit ball club though

Ceiling is hard, but Deng with Slightly better handle is roughly where he can get to. If you see him like that, it's enough to make him worth ~3 points per 100 possessions defensively and ~1 per 100 offensively(Both relative to A neutral player).

Probably aligns with the 2nd Banana on a title team of many above.

Not worried about his peak yet. Thats years away. For now I just want to see continued gradual improvement in his game. Can he further refine his outside shot, or is this how he's going to be?

:lol everyone who posted are spurs fans

I agree with him being the second banana tbh. More realistic is 3rd but 2nd can be reached.

Face of the franchise. Top-five player at his peak and borderline HoFer by the end of it.

could easily end up being the premier perimeter defender in the NBA when he hits his prime. Perimeter defense usually improves with age. look at Bruce, Battier. We've already seen glimpses of what he can do both on and off the ball. in my eyes the main thing he's gotta work on is further refining his jumper if he wants to take that next step offensively. since he's not the most explosive guy in the half court as far as his drives to the hoop, he'll definitely need to get more and more comfortable with the mid-range pullup jumper. for now, since he's playing alongside the big 3, he doesn't need to do all these things. but later down the line a post game would be ideal too, with his strength/length.

i think in his prime, whenever that comes, he can be an elite 2nd banana. just look at how much he improved from year 1 to year 2, then remember he's 21

Tayshaun Prince peak. Which is pretty good considering where Prince was in his prime, but definitely not a max contract player.

He was a pig in a poke, but he's turned out to be just what SA needed. It could be a role match where he might not match up well on another team, but so far he's impressed me.

How far he can go depends on how well he can get at dribble penetration. He is a decent passer, has a good post game, can shoot the three and 8 to 18 fter. On defense he is great guarding the pnr, iso's, and in transition. He is decent in post defense. He is an elite rebounder for a 3.

The glaring hole is his dribble penetration on iso's and pnr sets. Earlier in the year, he would call for screens or try to take his defender off the dribble but seemed tenative. Given Manu and Tony, he didn't get a lot of chances to run that. De Colo and Neal took a lot of those possessions as well. He just passes on them now when he catches the ball up top. He is amazingly efficient now.

If he can develop that part of his game then he will be a dominant scorer. If not then he will be a Shawn Marion type with a better jump shot. One is All Star whereas the other is All-NBA. Either one is great for a late lotto pick.

If he achieves his potential he will be a borderline all star and maybe make 1 or 2 all star games in his career.

dude ain't a franchise player imho, just a solid role player and possibly a borderline all-star but i'd never expect him to become the face of a franchise, gerald wallace will be his ceiling imho
