View Full Version : NBA: Is T-Mac pulling a Kobe, tbh?

Riding the best PF to ever play the game to the WCF...

Makes you wonder what his career would've looked like if he would get half the love from ESPN and didn't pair up with a glass made-in-china big man and instead coattailed a truly dominant big...

Both him and Kobe are done, but as BRHornet pointed out numerous times, except for the media glorification, they're basically the same player. This would be just one more similarity.

With Tracy having much better playoffs than Kobe though, I think a case can be made that T-Mac will have a better end to his career...

Thoughts?

an interesting question. it's similar to what would Kobe's career been like had he gone to Charlotte and not bitched his way onto the Lakers.

I've always been more of a TMAC fan than Kobe, therefore prefer him on our team than a lockeroom cancer tbh. There's no doubt that had TMAC been with Duncan earlier, him (and therefore us fans) would have more rings.

While that's probably true, he wouldn't have had the ESPN excuse-making machine Achilles has... I mean, the fact that he would've been playing for a small market and he isn't constantly trying hard to act like Mike would probably work against him, IMO.

this is true. if he played for Spurs, he'd still have to deal with smaller payroll and less FT advantage, especially in elimination games. so most likely he wouldn't have got as many rings as Kobe. however, had he played in LA from the start instead of Kobe, it's crazy to think what his ceiling could've been.

T-Mac with Shaq would've had at least 4-5 rings before all was said and done.

I hate Kobe and love T-Mac but those are some terrible takes if you are being serious.

If Tmac gets a ring, he should be good

I can't read TMAC's mind but I would think that he just wants to have a chance of winning a championship. Until this year, he had never played in the 2nd round. He is now in a Conference Finals for the first time in his career so he's probably excited about the opportunity.

I doubt TMac will be announcing his retirement on Facebook in two days, wouldn't make sense, he could ring in a few weeks

When all is said and done, Kobe will go down as the 14th greatest player in NBA history.

I wouldn't say he has in the WCF. I'd say he has a better than normal seat to watch it.

Real talk T-Mac was always one of my favorite players. Still remember watching that insane 30 second performance where he dropped 13 against us. Still strange to see him in a Spurs uniform. Would be pretty badass to see him get a ring with us though.

Is T-Mac pulling a Kobe?

Nah, he won't be getting a hand full of rings, that's one thing spurfan can be sure of.

Now if he likes to collect regular season and WCF banners, he joined the perfect franchise tbh because he won't sniff a ring, not even once.

Depends on how long he wants to force the issue and extend his career, tbh... right now that's a fair assessment.

in terms of raw talent there ain't much difference between these players, but kobe's mentality is what makes him greater than t-mac imho, whether he was born with such mentality or acquired it through playing with great teammates.

Latarian Milton

t-mac can be the best player on his team but he's never a real leader imho. had he played his entire career in san antonio he and tim would've probably achieved 8 rings together, but it'd be questionable if he played in kobe's place alongside shaq. shaq was a great player but he also lacked the ability to lead a team. kobe may lambast his teammates so hard like they're his bitches but that's also what a real leader is supposed to do imho, you also see dirk ranting at teammates when they play bad, for example

Spurs signing TMAC instantly made .5 billion new Spurs fans.

Riding the best PF to ever play the game to the WCF...

Easiest hole to poke in this troll job thread... A player benched in crunch time of a playoff game is not one you "ride" anywhere. The TOSB moniker gets old, but I think it applies perfectly here.
