I was at the game and I havent heard a crowd like this since 2006 when the refs rigged the mavs series and we were booing the hell out of the refs...

but yesterday the game had an INCREDIBLE atmosphere! how did it sound on TV? did we sound like some golden state fans?

I hate that ABC lowers the crowd noise on tv. I've been to some LOUD games that aired on ABC and dvr'd it only to watch it at home and think "wtf."

Agree OP! I drove in from Houston for the game, screwed up and left a little late so I got to the arena a few minutes into the 1st quarter. As I was hustling to my seat on the balcony level, I was actually startled by how loud the crowd noise was that was coming out of each corridor I passed. I've been to quite a few Spurs playoff games in the AT&T Center, and this was by far the loudest. You could tell that everyone there had '11 in mind and were hungry for blood. :tu

I watched on TV and noticed right away. I remarked to a friend that the fans were really into it.

Good to hear! AT&T is great when it's rowdy! That brings back some fine memories... :smokin

It was hilarious that the Chinese acrobats (or whatever was going on at halftime) was drowning out Magic Johnson and Bill Simmons.

It was a late arriving crowd and I figured that Simmons would take some sort of shot at SA for that; once everyone got there, though, it was a really good building for a Game 1. I'm not sure it was quite where it was for Game 5 of the last round, but the building did SA proud, I thought.

It looked raucous on TV! Loved the spontaneous Go Spurs Go chant that broke out at one point (without the sound cue).

That explains why they needed a decibel meter for Golden State.

I concur with FWD. Very good crowd, but not quite as loud as Game 5 v. GS. The building was also not 100% full.

Whats funny I thought the crowd was just "OK" The later starts where the average fans gets some beers in em seems to be better. Hopefully they're louder Tuesday.

From attending all the SA playoff games thus far, I thought the crowd was pretty damn good these last two games. I commented that I was happy to see how loud the crowd was in game 5 and yesterday's game. Is it because San Antonio fans know when it's important? I don't know, but it's awesome.

First time this post-season that it felt like a playoff crowd, tbh. I mean when they flashed "get loud" people actually got loud. When they flashed "rise up" or "on your feet" or whatever, people actually got up off their seets.

I can't wait till T-Mac hits a shot in garbage time. The ATT center will probably crumble from the impact of the crowd. :lol

The halftime show was called "Red Panda" A lady rides a tall unicycle. She stacks bowls on her leg from her foot them flips them on her head.
She will flip up to 5 bowls at a time. This is one of the 3 best halftime shows...that's why the crowd was cheering at the half......

Haha! I could tell the remaining fans desperately wanted to see T-Mac make a shot. Their collective "awe" when he missed his 3 point attempt was pretty loud in itself :lol

Yeah, I was ready to leave with about 4 minutes left, but my son said he wanted to stay to see if McGrady scored...I know that was what everyone was waiting for. Less than 10% of the crowd left a 20 point game with 2 minutes left...

There were many Spurs fans in the lower sections who stood up and cheered loudly in anticipation of Matt Bonner...at the catch...hitting a 3, well-before he swished it. Yeah, they were into it. The lower bowl fans finally came-correct.

Not just ABC. I remember being at the MDM with by far the loudest crowd I have ever heard at a basketball game, then when I went home and watched the NBC game tape I recorded it just sounded like a regular game.

05-20-2013, 09:34 PM
Yeah...I thought it was a good turnout by the crowd also...however, I did keep thinking they could be just a little better...at this pt in the wcf, you have to be into every play, imo...offensive, defensive, loose balls, turnovers, etc. The home team can feed off of it. Game 2 should be twice as loud. 8Pm start and probably the biggest game of the postseason, for the spurs yet..gotta hold home court.

Poolboy5623
05-20-2013, 09:35 PM
Also, fwiw...I think the spurs crowd has a ways to go before it can be refereed to as "warrior-esque." That crowd is in a league of its own.

I'm not a season ticket holder, but everytime I go to a game I get lower level seats. Usually when I go I'm one of the few cheering my ass off, yelling, clapping, standing, etc. while the people around me look at me like I'm a nut. :lol Don't get me wrong there are great fans in the lower bowl that get into it but only a couple that really, really get into it...

I went to game 5 vs GSW. It was really loud. I think we have one of the best atmospheres in the NBA, and it gets so little credit.

Seriously, why can't ESPN give us a decimal meter? Or show the stands every once in a while? Hell they had a camera overhead in GSW that showed the fans every time play was about to start. Not to mention whenever a shot was made...
