Thanks for the post, this is exactly why all basketball fans should appreciate Spurs basketball. A team playing together rather than resorting to New York's Isolation play. It's going to be weird years from now when the system is changed and Spurs basketball is completely different from what we have been used to seeing.

Other than the random drunken fights I actually like sitting in the upper level for some Spurs games because you can pretty much get a birds eye view and watch these plays develop from the start.

Could Danny Green have been any more lucky? He found the right team for his skillset - so many of these plays end in open 3s for him. Amazing, too, for the Spurs, to find the prototypical 3&D guy from the scrap heap.

Gold mine!

It is no wonder that the Spurs emphasise so much on experience, and years of apprenticeship. The number of plays in their book and their complicated execution demands such precision and persistence.

but yeah no wonder the big 3 stayed put. no way would i want to have to learn another system after getting used to this.

If you remember, the Spurs spent several years auditioning and developing wings before Danny emerged as the guy -- it took a whole lot of planning and effort to get lucky like that. ;)

Great video. Hammer's gotta be my favorite. I don't know how many times they've run that play and it continues to work. I love how the screener and the shooter kind of lull the defenders to sleep, then BAM!

I like all the "fan" plays. Right away if Neal and green are wetting it then these plays r money.

"Rev Indiana" is our go-to play in crunch time, and it has won us quite a few games as well. My favorite play, tbh.

Great thread. I wonder how many of these plays are originally designed by Pop and co and how many we have taken (albeit probably with a wrinkle thrown in) from other teams. I would assume the Detriot 4 probably came from Larry Browns Piston team and Spain Leak from the Spanish national team?
