View Full Version : Heat: Miami gets less calls than any championship team I've ever seen, tbh..

:lol the perception that the Heat get Laker-like treatment is the biggest misconception among haters/casual fans, tbh..
Tonight heavily favored the Pacers, especially in the final quarter/OT, but just looking at the entire playoffs:
Of the final 4 teams in these playoffs, Miami is 3rd out of 4 in FTA to FGA ratio..defensively, following tonight's game, they are 4th out of 4 in FTA to FGA ratio:lol..
I can only imagine what the Heat could do with a Grizzlies/Lakers/Thunder whistle, tbh:lol..

you're a secret heat fan. heat don't have no legit low-post scorer (except lebron james turning finals-mode though) nor do they have any poor ft-shooter who often becomes the receiving end of hack-a-someone strategy, it's no surprise they shoot less FTs than teams who play offense predominantly through the paint imho

They dont need it. They that good. Wade and James can score without going for contacts and whistles. Plus they are great defensive team, which could help them in transition offense.
I have respect for them, but I dont like them. Winning team with all that hype, but without all that bullshit of Stern`s NBA model is rare thing to witness.

The art of star calls happen in key moments of the game. This includes looking the other way. This is why it was so amazing they made the George call. Do not worry, Stern made his call, and it will not happen, again. Please feel free to foul away as usual.

Last night, the officiating was most definitely in favor of Indiana. Lebron was getting murdered all night along with no calls, while Paul George jacks up a long 3, doesn't get touched, and Wade gets called for a foul.

if Lebron played tough like the absolute oversized beast he is, he wouldn't need to worry about calls. He is a 6'8 270 lb athletic freak that any NFL team would love to have, but he is always exaggerating contact trying to draw fouls. Sure he gets fouled, who doesn't. But with his size advantage, he just ends up looking like a big pussy.

Well, I would say that Lebron played like the absolute oversized beast he is, because even though he wasn't getting calls, he put up 30 points, a triple double, and won the game for them with 2 incredibly clutch buckets down the stretch, one of them getting fouled the entire way to the hoop and getting hit on the head but with no call, and the second being a game winner.
I'd say he looked far from a big pussy.

This. He actually got five fouls last night, but was there ever any worry that he would foul out? Miami gets less calls than teams like the Lakers, but to say they get less than you have ever seen is a stretch. They get way more calls than the 2011 Mavs, or any Spurs title team.

Harlem is obv biased but he isn't wrong tbh. Anybody who's watched Laker/Thunder games this season know they far and away the most ref coddled teams and it isn't even close.
Grizzlies/Pacers get away with the grabbing/hand checking because they've got the defensive rep bs. That said, I don't think they get more calls than Miami.
The Heat aren't even in the same stratosphere as the Lakers/OKC when it comes to bs calls.
lol wow okay hater
Lebron is by far the best player in the league. He can put up better numbers in his sleep than half the players in the league. He is still a pussy, flailing on contact from guys half his size. It's unnecessary and makes him look like a little girl.

um
everyone does it. and to be fair to him, sometimes he has to do it in order to get a fair call. he is so much bigger and stronger than everyone that if he stands stout through all the contact he absorbs, the refs wont think anyone touched him, when in fact they are hacking the mess out of him.
im not a fan of flopping and selling calls, but sometimes refs either suck so bad, or players are so good at fouling without the refs noticing, that sometimes it simply has to be done to be fair.

I knew you were gonna go there, but c'mon man. The issue is not guys flopping in the NBA. The issue is Lebron being built like an NFL tight end but going down faster than a paid hooker. He's "the chosen one". He shouldnt he flopping around with his build.
And for what its worth, I hate flopping, even when spurs do it. Which is why I hate it even more when someone as stout as lebron does it.

You WOULD say so ...
I dont think Miami gets freebies out of line with other championship teams ... they dont get more than most and they dont so many less.
Bias clouds your judgment ... ALL Star laden teams get calls ...wtf you want them to just hand the trophy to the best player on the planet?
As to the original statement by HH ... I dont remember the 1983 Sixers, or 1994 Pistons getting an abundance of calls ... Clutch City either.
But again I expect if they did it was deserved stars get calls. Maybe only that pistons lacked a true superstar from any of teh championship teams I have seen ...

That would be the Spurs. I agree that the "Heat get calls" talk is overdone, but context is everything. You can't just look at the totality of fouls/free throws and jump to conclusions.
Officials manage games. The more dominant a team is, the less help they need to give them. This team hasn't even had to break a sweat all season, so they didn't really require much help.
Just like the Bryant-Gasol Lakers didn't require as much help as the O'Neal Lakers, so they didn't get as much. But when it was needed, like game 7 of the '10 Finals, it was there.

No arguments on LeBron's 6th but the shot clock violation on Indy and Wade's travel were the funniest calls of the playoffs so far tbh.

I think it WAS a travel but just weird they called it then when they let so many go on both sides all series (stephenson, Hibbert, Lebron, Wade Bosh) so many guys have been travelling with no call ...

I can't think of a star perimeter player in the last 20 years who hasn't used that stepback move to hit a gamewinner.
It's probably a travel, but this is the NBA.
I just thought it was hilarious that they called it on a faggot like Wade tbh.

Not to mention the terrible call on Wade's travel that negated a Battier 3 that would have cut the lead to 1:lol..
If you call that a travel, NBA teams would average 70 points per game, since you could call that on every other play..

I just watched a series where Andrew Bogut committed illegal screens all game, every game, yet he was called for 1, maybe 2 screens all series..
There's no way you make that call with a minute left in game 4 of the CFs, tbh..

How was it not a travel?
He came off the screen, planted, pump faked, picked up his dribble and took a few more steps

It just looked awkward and slow, tbh..you can call travel every other play in the NBA..

Thought it was bit ticky-tack to foul someone out on that play (noty just Lebron) but appears it was not a horrendous ..call
Another Harlem fail post tbh ... but I admit on first viewing I thought a pretty weak call.
i said it was a bad call at first, just trying to be fair to both sides. but watching it again, Joey C had it right. Lebron probably figured with his stature in the league he'd get away with it, and tbh, normally he would. But it backfired.

tbh it doesnt matter if you're a heat/lebron hater, that 6th foul against lebron was laughable to say the least...
if they call that foul on every big man who sets picks, everyone would foul out in the first 2 mins of the first quarter
watching that 6th call on Lebron again, that was the right call. nigga tried to trip someone.
yup just saw a close pic.
All things considered, it's one of the 3 biggest names in NBA history, it's a key game in the conference finals, and he fouls out on a phantom foul ON A SCREEN?:lmao..
Arguably the worst call in NBA history, tbh..
Lebron's 4th, 5th and 6th fouls were all poor calls, especially #6..
Embarrassing, tbh..https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BLZvt-hCUAAvKdM.jpg:large
Just saw this, thats clearly a foul. Stop whining.
you can't set picks with your foot out to trip someone.

This. It wasn't an egregious foul and it's not a call you make to foul out Lebron James. His 5th foul was just stupid.
Same with the Wade travel -- Bean, Harden, young Wade, Lebron and every other superstar all make that stepback. Wade never should have called Stern out during that CBA mtg.
Anyways, is what it is.

:lol again, I just watched an entire series where the Warriors set near-flagrant screens all game with barely any calls against them, yet you're gonna call a weak-ass foul on a screen with 1 minute left in the conference finals?..smh..

At first I thought it was a weak foul call, but after watching several replays I had to change my mind. James tried setting a screen, but he didn't have any body on it. He essentially tripped Stephenson. Not really a bad call.

Shit like this is why I hate when Manu is one of the first ones that comes to people's minds when talking about flops. Manu sells contact that actually happens, many guys in the NBA (not saying Lebron is one just for one play) try to cheat the refs.

Probably it's because Manu is notorious for doing it more consistently than 99% of other players.
All players flop, but he does it far more than most.

The dude that flops more consistenly than 99% of other players still hasn't been fined or warned for flopping, tbh.

Lance Stephenson was the worst offender from either team last night.

I've looked on both sides of the the spectrum and this is what I"m seeing. The Spurs are playing more aggressive than the Heat on offense where as the Heat are barreling in looking for contact on defenders that are backing up.
On offense, the Spurs are still being more aggressive and still warrant the calls they've received and possibly even more.
I've looked at all Wade and LeBron drives fairly and when they stay back and complain, they complain about almost nothing. There are a number of plays that I thought warranted a replay because it did seem like they (Wade/James) did get mugged.
The Officials have allowed physical play unless it gets out of control. The Spurs cope with their no calls whereas I've seen James and Wade stare or tantrum. Most of all, there are a number of moving screens set by the Heat. The Spurs are clean on those type of plays but not 100 percent clean. The moving screens go uncalled on most of Miami's part. Especially the screens far away from the ball.
Overall, I think this has been the best officiating in my history of watching the NBA playoffs. Last years officiating was terrible. The year before that, it was even more terrible and so on. It has gone leaps and bounds as far as I'm concerned.
As for the Manu flopping, I haven't seen that most of the series so I don't believe what everyone is gawking about. Other players have flopped much more than he has.

Any call that Miami hasnt gotten is completely neutralized by EVERY SINGLE CALL TIAGO SPLITTER HAS BEEN ROBBED OF.
Anyway is this even being discussed. This is poetic justice as far as I'm concerned because I haven't watched all the 82 games of Miami in the regular season. In those season games, they were heavily favored by the officiating crew. It wasn't even close. They were flopping all season also. Now that the league is exposing there flaw, they aren't as great of the team as they thought they were since much of their defense was a fluke. I've also seen the officials rob games for them, one against the Cavaliers, another against the Magic. That was during that.........supposed 29 game winning streak.
Tell me how should I feel sorry for players that have flopped into the position they are, a position the league wants them to be, a position in which the media wanted them to be, a position the NBA strived them to be in, a position in which fans with arrogance and ignorance, a team that most people would call BITCH made? Why should I care? Why should anyone care?
