The NBA Finals begin on June 6 no matter what.

If the Spurs were to sweep the Grizzlies, they would get 10 days of rest before Finals Game 1.

If the Spurs were to beat the Grizzlies 4 games to 1, they would get 8 days of rest before Finals Game 1.

If the Spurs were to beat the Grizzlies 4 games to 2, they would get 6 days of rest before Finals Game 1.

If the Spurs were to beat the Grizzlies 4 games to 3, they would get 4 days of rest before Finals Game 1.

Those 10 days of rest should be great :hat

Now I almost want it to go 6. :lmao

10 days is ridiculous. I don't want the Heat being all super sharp for game 1, we'll get hammered like we did against the Warriors in game 1 when we were really rusty.

Nope, that's false. The NBA finals start could move up to June 4th if both conference finals end quickly.

First, I would like the Spurs to not choke away a 2-0 lead in the WCF again.

And they would get 4 months of rest if Memphis wins the series.

I think 4 days is good rest if we dont have any injuries to overcome...

According to this article, the NBA already issued a press release stating the Finals will start June 6th.

Also, ABC is already running commercials announcing the Finals starting on June 6th.

In the past, it's always been the finals starting on a Thursday with a possibility of starting the Tuesday if both conference finals are played in 4 or 5 games.

ESPN/AP calendar is talking about a possible Tuesday start:

We're fans, not coaches or players. We can talk about the Finals as much as we want.

Lulz this is a legitimate topic

6-8 days would be ideal. Damn I really wish Indu had pulled out game 1 as that would probably indicate a long series. Need Mahinmi to keep slamming LeBron on his head tbh. Ok maybe not that far

This. While I'm pretty confident we will not blow another 2-0 lead there is that creeping doubt in mind due to the utter disaster last year that left me stunned and devastated for the summer.

Being that the first game in the Finals is an away game, and we could say that the chances of winning are not big, I wouldnt mind haveing 10 days, regardless if they are cold in the first game. New series, you never know what could happen. 10 days rest when you have players like Tim Duncan (tired), Parker (coming from injury and tired), Kiwi (knee), Tiago (injury)...
give me the 10 days.

A sweep and 10 days of rest is looking like a real possibility now.

So is the June 6th date set in stone, or can be moved to June 4th if needed like Bruno said?

I hope it's on June 6. That being said, a hypothetical June 4 start date could give the Spurs enough rest while not giving the Heat a very long rest.
