Hope all you cliff jumpers turn off the TV. Seriously, turn it off and stop watching if you think this is over already.

The starters D was good, we just turned it over too much and gave up layups. If Memphis wants to run their offence through Prince jumpshots I'm happy. Arthur with 3 fouls already is huge.

This will be within 8 by half time

Give just about all of the credit to Memphis. They came to play today, and are playing like their lives depend on it. Flawless playmaking and shot-making too.

Good job to the Spurs for losing an entire game in one quarter. Hard to achieve, honestly.

Going back to game 2, Spurs have been outscored by Memphis in 3 straight quarters (regulation time).
This is a very bad sign that's reminiscent of last year. Memphis is figuring us out and making the right adjustments.

DEFENSE RULES!!!!!

If Memphis win with defense, props to them. Pop keeps forgetting this, no matter how much he keeps going on about defense, he keeps forgetting about it. Keeps playing defensive liabilities.

Burn the tape. We ain't recovering from this one.

Hope you've both turned the TV off, and don't turn it back on.

I hate when Pop treats a Playoff game like it's an early regular season game and a time for lessons. Benching all of the starters to make a point isn't something you do in game 3 of the conference finals. I prefer a sloppy offense that can still keep it sloppy on defense over a group that's going to be at a huge disadvantage on the defensive end.

make a few small changes and let your best players figure it out.

Ed Davis could give the Spurs trouble offensively, but he's one of the worst defensive bigs in the NBA, Duncan needs to abuse him, tbh..

If the Spurs cut the deficit to 6 or less at the half, they're in good shape..

Anyone else notice that Gary Neal's man is either always scoring, getting an assist, or taking an open shot or passing to a guy who's wide open? Every single time.

Whenever he's out there, the opposing team always goes after him on every play and it almost always works.

easjer
05-25-2013, 08:54 PM

Of course he has, it's the first half and Memphis is ahead and playing well. In game two it was with the Spurs having a big lead and the 2nd half so they had to start in the 3rd

I really wonder why Pop says Diaw's basketball IQ is high... Diaw has his fits of idiocy but generally he's solid, has good court vision, and usually makes good decisions. Whenever he makes a bad decision it's like the one we just saw which was deciding to be too passive.

I'm extremely happy with this 4 point game. I was thinking if they can get it down to 6-8, we'll be fine, but 4 is even better!

The best part about this is that with how the 2nd quarter went at the end there with Duncan out, we really could've been within 2 or even tied it if we had the rebounding in the game to not have given up those 4 offensive boards in the last 40 seconds. We'd have had 2 more shots to take.

That's part of what scares me, tbh. I wasn't too worked up over this game, because they just need to split. But this series has always felt like a series of extremes to me. Crazy no memory, master of panic fans crack me up. Seriously, anyone who has watched the NBA for any length of time should have known that kind of 1st half was coming. Here's what is coming next: the game will be close with either team maintaining a bit of a lead going into the 4th. The Spurs need the lead because once the game gets down to crunch time the refs will give damn near every meaningful call to the Grizzlies. The Spurs will have to be able to play and score trough contact that won't be called and will have to play smart technically sound defense and rebound better to win in spite of the calls/non-calls. I'm warning you people now to expect it so dont be surprised and panicking when it happens.

Exactly! If your quickness to cover Marc Freaking Gasol is unquestionably nonexistent... who can you cover in this league? A non-pick and roll team with a center with no range on his shot? Dwight Howard is pretty much only dude he can cover?

Yeah I feel you man. Their 1st quarter was bad all around. Nobody did too well including Pop. Our D' was actually good though despite the 29 points given up. 11 points off turnovers, and most of those were fast break layups and dunks. If those terrible turnovers didn't happen, the game would've been like 17-18 or 19-18 even with the shitty shooting. Other than Neal, and our 2nd unit rebounding, Spurs' D has been good so far.

Duncan picking up that uneccessary foul late in the 2nd kinda worries me though, because he's one foul away from foul trouble and another from sitting down until 6-7 minutes left. How the 3rd goes should be a really good indicator for the rest of the game. I hope we can take this one.
