I was just looking up where Tim Duncan stands in several categories all time since I was wondering where he'd end up placing if he played until 40, and he's WAY higher in some categories than I thought he would be. Check out some of this stuff I found:
Career defensive rating:
1.
Gar Heard (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/h/heardga01.html)
95.30
2.
Tim Duncan (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/d/duncati01.html)
95.37
3.
Dave Cowens (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/c/cowenda01.html)*
95.52
4.
David Robinson (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/r/robinda01.html)*
95.65
5.
Ben Wallace (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/w/wallabe01.html)
95.76
Timmy was actually #1 fairly comfortably until his rating slipped some the last few years ('09-'12)
Defensive win shares:
1.
Bill Russell (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/r/russebi01.html)*
133.64
2.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/a/abdulka01.html)*
94.49
3.
Hakeem Olajuwon (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/o/olajuha01.html)*
94.47
4.

93.92
5.
Tim Duncan (http://www.spurstalk.com/players/d/duncati01.html)
93.50
Only one full win share away from 2nd all time. He will likely easily get that next year. Obviously he can't match the great Bill Russell, but getting #2 is still very impressive.
