If Heat go small with Bosh 5, LeBron 4, the way the Spurs must play is to put Tiago on Bosh and Diaw on LeBron. Can try Kawhi as the 4 man but with just Kawhi and Tiago it'll be tough. Boris will see LeBron time book it.
Where does that leave Duncan?
If the Spurs want to stay with their main starting 5 of Duncan and Tiago against the Heat's Bosh / LeBron combo, it's best to put Duncan on Battier. Battier is slower than Bosh and won't be involved in any pick and rolls.
Duncan's best match ups are Anderson, Haslem, Anthony, Battier. As much as you can, have Duncan on these 4 guys. Duncan on Bosh early in the game on fresher legs ok too.
Diaw will need to be HUGE.

I'd rather Duncan on Bosh and Splitter on Battier. Splitter moves his feet quicker if Battier tries to take him off the dribble.

Duncan would be in foul trouble in 3 mins, tbh... Battier plays on skates... he's falling over left and right every possession, and for some reason, refs still buy it...

Yeah either Splitter or Duncan being able to hide on Battier would be huge.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Spoelstra try Bosh / LeBron / Allen / Wade / Chalmers in order to not let one of our bigs hide on Battier. If they play this lineup, Duncan - Diaw or Splitter - Diaw would have to be the big man combos cause they'll be so quick.
Diaw is KEY.

Can't have Timmy guarding those Bosh pick and pops in this series. He just doesn't have the footspeed to do it anymore. I like Timmy on Battier too, but it does draw Timmy away from the rim defensively, which isn't good when Lebron looms...

Terrible idea. Do you want Duncan guarding the perimeter so that LeBron and Wade can have a dunk party in the paint?
Put Duncan on Haslem/Birdman and put Splitter on Bosh. Kawhi on LeBron and Duncan can help Kawhi every now and then if LeBron enters the paint. Green on Wade/Allen and Parker on Chalmers/Cole. You can hide Neal on Chalmers. Diaw is capable of guarding LeBron and Battier.
This won't be a physical series for Duncan on the defensive end compared to the last 3 series he's been through and I expect him to be able to get fairly deep post position on pretty much anyone on their squad.
In my opinion Bosh will be a huge ex-factor in this series.

Of course if Haslem or Birdman is in the game you put Tim on either of them! I'm saying when the heat's frontline is Battier - James - Bosh, you gotta pick your poison and it might be better to go with Duncan on Battier to avoid the screen and pop / screen and roll. Then pound the Heat inside with Tiago and Duncan on the other end. Tiago can handle Bosh no problems.
Pop will figure it out in 10 days. There is a lot of basketball to be played in Pacers - Heat series. Watch and learn
Give them the jumpshot and pray
