Pisses me off that the reason we probably won't win #5 is because of some cheaply created super-team. Lame AF.

Hypothetically speaking, it would just make beating them that much more absofuckinglutely incredible.

for real. it really is weird how things work out. more than likely our final stand with the big three and pop having to go up against this fake, no heart machine of a team. it's like a damn movie.

A Michael Bay movie, unless the Spurs win the chip. Then it's like a Tarantino western.

sons the "entitled" generations coming up nowadays will be cheering for the media darling Miami Heat (as they have been told to do)

anyone with a brain who can respect legit basketball before the NBA decided to pervert it with story lines and other scripted nonsense will be cheering for the Spurs.

this isn't about being a Spurs fan or being a Heat fan. this is about being a fan of the game or being a fan of the pussification of America.

Take away the Heat and Spurs fanbases, and I think you have a population that mostly wants the Spurs to take it. I have no stats to back it up, obviously, but casual fans just want an exciting series and the best way for that to happen is if the Spurs put up a decent challenge. The rest is an underdog story.

BR, God bless to your family and Fevertrees too.

this will definitely be a true underdog story. Spurs vs Heat is the ultimate homegrown, organic team vs the ultimate manufacted team in the Heat. I respect the Heat's talent obviously, but not what they stand for or how they came together.

LeBron and Wade are great players, but most of their other talent overlaps. Bosh is a jump shooting big, Allen plays the same position as Wade. There is not much interior presence, and they aren't good at PG either.

On defense, they have no answers for Hibbert, West and George Hill. The Spurs have Parker, Duncan and Splitter at those positions, which is at least as good.

They have Hibbert and West down low.. that's two legit scoring threats in the post. We only have a 37 year old Duncan. Splitter is basically a non-factor on offense unless it's a wide open lay up. That's not going to cut it for the Spurs in the post. If only we had a scoring Center.

Well if Spurs beat the Heat, Texas will pretty much own Super Team Miami

Didn't know that you could be a dynasty after winning just ONE title together. Wait does being in the finals once before and being spanked by the Mavs count towards dynasty status?

Legacy I get, because they've done it together as a group for so, so long but MIA as a dynasty doesn't compute.

Except Splitter is a better passer and is quicker on his feet than either of them?

True but I'm talking about offensive advantage. Miami's only "weakness" is in the low post and the Spurs only have a 37 year old Duncan to really try to exploit it, where as Indiana has had some success because they have two.

miami's way of making the team was not that bad, it was a fair use of capspace imho. The only one that made their team unfairly were the lakers. Of course, our is the best by far.

Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Bill Simmons, John Hollinger and all the rest - please pick the Heat (or Pacers) to win the Finals.

Thank you.

A 37 year old Duncan just beat what was probably the strongest frontline in the West.

The only "bigs" the Heat regularly play are Bosh, who is more a jump shooter these days, and Andersen, who really can't score unless he's 5 feet from the basket.

I'm more interested to see what the Heat's plan is for Parker. If they try to put Lebron on him, that is going to free up Leonard to have a big series (don't think Wade has the foot speed to stay with him). Neither Chalmers nor Wade will have a chance in hell to stop Parker. Pack the paint? They don't have the big men.

Everybody at my office is buying spurs gear. I think me and the mexican are the only person here who are actually fans, (Amarillo is mavs country) but I was able to convince them to do jeans days for every finals game.

The heat fan in the other department is pissed.

My recollection was each of James/Wade/Bosh signed for less than the max salary and all for the same amount. A quick hoopshype salary check shows that Wade actually makes slightly less than the other two.

Spurs payroll: $69 million

Heat payroll: $83 million

Yes the Spurs could do a lot with the extra $14 million, especially next year. However, that is much below the grotesque $100 million payroll currently run by the Lakers and in recent years the Knicks and Mavs.

You are nuts. Duncan is a better scorer than either of those 2, and is better on D as well. I agree Splitter doesn't give much Offense. However, he is starting to actually look good, as he did earlier in the season. He is healthy.
