They just won the West, and they have 9 days off now. Let them celebrate for a day or two, then it's back to work. 4 more to get!

GO SPURS GO!!!!!

Absolutely, they should be ashamed and embarrassed. So unprofessional. Can't believe I support this team.

Great thread, will recommend to friends, family, loved ones, mistress, congressman

They deserve the celebration, as do we. Most if not all have no illusions about the finals. Whatever happens next is just icing...

Be sure to tell them that. I'm sure they'd appreciate hearing your point of view.

no. they all know the toughest series is yet to come, but its always great to make the finals. they have over a week until then, so if they want to celebrate for a little while, they're more than entitled to.

.

The San Antonio Spurs point guard was happy, of course, ecstatic that the Memphis Grizzlies were behind them and the NBA Finals awaited them for the first time in six years and the fourth time since he joined Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili as part of this legendary Big Three in 2001. So he walked with a permanent grin past the meaningless trophy in the hallway next to the locker room, that silver ball that Manu Ginobili wanted no part of holding because he said he'd "wait for the next one."

This may be the last time this team gets to the NBA finals. They should take full advantage and enjoy the moment.

I'm good with it. I celebrated with them from my living room. This was a great accomplishment.

It does not matter now.
I was thinking the same thing about celebration and all. But damn it';s better to smile and be happy esp. now when they have over a week of not playing after accomplishing what they did.

To the youngsters is a big deal but I hope now the old guys will keep all sharp for the next challenge

Our guys don't celebrate anything all year. Yesterday they won the West which is no easy feat. Let them celebrate. They deserve it.

It's a sigh of relief to get this far and they have 9 days off coming. 12 wins in the playoffs isn't easy, a little release is a good thing..

You had to know you would get flamed for this type of post, right? The guys deserve it, for all the reasons above.

Didn't sit well with me either. Almost like they're just happy to be there.

Look at Dirk with the forced smile, thinking "F this trophy." That's what I wanted to see.

They have 9 days rest. They can celebrate for days and days and still have plenty of time to regain mental focus.

Any celebration more than a day is too much. The Spurs need to maintain focus and intensity.

It's been a while. Let them have some fun. Every media outlet has counted them out esp after last yr when OKC beat us.

i thought they were extremely subdued at the trophy presentation, and based on the lockeroom pics, I don't think they were over celebrating at all. They improved as a team, finally won the WCF after getting screwed over last year, and now have 9 days to heal up before the final battle. I'm sure they will be really locked in, especially with Pop and the Big 3 wanting one more chance at this thing.

Just my .02.....it's been 6 yrs since they got this far so I can understand it. If they reached the finals last yr too then I don't think it wouldn't be so celebratory

Are gnsfs posting too much?

barakz21
05-28-2013, 02:27 PM
Lol no. I remember watching the 05 or 07 finals documentary. During the celebration in the locker room after beating the suns in game 5, Pop said something along the lines of "celebrate this win, but to those guys who haven't been there(finals), it's so much sweeter once you win it".

ps. pardon me if it was too far from what Pop originally said, it's been a couple of years since I watched those dvds.

There's a lot of young guys on the team. Let them enjoy it. They have 9 days for Pop and Co. to tell them now they need to elevate their games even higher in the next round.

You guys find a way to complain about everything! Let them have some fun, they just swept a team who beat them in 011 and got some revenge to get back to the finals! Nobody expected them to be here at all so I am sure getting there last night was a very good feeling.
After what happened last year, I don't blame them for celebrating.
LOL I know, some expected them to get back door swept again and I am sure that put appropriate fear into them. They were not happy just stealing one there in Memphis, they had to go out there and get two!

If I was Pop, I would tell the players to celebrate winning the west and then I let them a couple of days relaxing with their families/friends/girlfriends. This big break with 9 days off allow Spurs to do that. Players will be mentally fresh and ready after having spend a couple of days with their minds not focused on basketball.

After that 2 days break, there still will have plenty of time to be ready for game 1 and for Pop to get players attention on what they should do. I think it's the best way for Spurs to manage these 9 days off.

:lmao thinking they have a shot at the title

they reached their ceiling. Everyone should celebrate that imo

yes. obviously their shenanigans ran off Coach Bud.

thanks Spurs. you really fucked the duck on that one.

05-28-2013, 04:44 PM
:lol You think they're satisfied? Think they're just gonna lay down and die now? Think Tim Duncan is gonna let his team do that?

No professional athlete has that mentality, much less a legendary winner like Tim. Fuck anyone who even thinks that. That's why they play the fucking games.

crc21209
05-28-2013, 04:52 PM
No they're not celebrating too much. That's crazy. This team is filled with a bunch of young players who have never been this far, of course they are going to celebrate this moment. You can't blame Tim, Tony, and Manu either for celebrating after taking 6 long years to make it back to the NBA Finals. Enjoy it for a couple of days, and prepare for the Finals...

hater
05-28-2013, 04:54 PM
btw, that is why they had the young kids in the middle of the huddle, and DUncan and Manu were all the way in the corner. Not to mention I think Parker was not even there.

yeah, they are celebrating too much :lmao

siraulo23
05-28-2013, 04:57 PM
This could be their last trip to the finals. They should be celebrating more tbh

05-28-2013, 05:35 PM
Dumb thread.

The Big 3 are mentally prepared enough that they will teach the young guys how to mentally approach the Finals.

If the Spurs end up losing, it won't because you think they celebrated too early.

Capt Bringdown
05-28-2013, 06:31 PM
Agreed. The goal isn't to make it back to the Finals.
We're not the Utah Jazz, ffs.
