As great as Duncan and Splitter were defending Zach this season, in 2011, he was the second best mid range jump shooting big man next to Dirk even against size and getting in his jersey. He absolutely killed the Spurs that whole series primarily with jumpers(fadeaways/turnaround.) Two years later, Randolph has transitioned to working mostly the low post. His jumpshot(even open looks) was totally off, and his freethrow shooting was poor this postseason.

He just didn't have much confidence this year. In 2011, the dude just never hesitated to shoot the ball. I remember this guy hitting long 2s and 3s. Not sure he attempted a shot outside of 14 feet this year.

The spurs happened.

Was he hitting shots before this series?

He mentioned an ankle injury in the OKC series maybe he had even less lift than usual..

No. He was abusing both the Clippers, and Thunder' front court in the post. He rarely attempted jumpshots this postseason, but when he did, they were way off.

Not possible. I'm convinced the dude has a negative vertical leap. In other words, he's actually shorter when he "jumps".

Funny how just a couple yrs ago he was ballin like his name was HAKEEM OLAJUWON & they beat us. This series he was Kwame Brown status.

ZBO is breaking down. He essentially pulled a Manu 08, 10, 11, or a Duncan 11.
He's said that his knee swells up every game, and you can just tell that he limps and begins to wince the second the buzzer rings and the game is over. His best days are behind him, unless he finds whatever Duncan was smoking last offseason.

It just inexplicably disappeared. I still remember his turn around fadeaways and 3 pointers in 2011. The Spurs at times were daring him to shoot this series and he hesitated. When he did shoot, they were mostly bricks. It might be due to previous injuries where he just doesn't get any lift anymore so he no longer has any confidence in his shot.

The Spurs have been containing ZBo since the 2011 playoffs. In 6 regular season games between the two series, ZBo shot:

3-8
4-10
5-21
8-15
4-11
4-11

Total: 28-76 36.8%

People remember that series from a couple of years ago, and don't want to believe that it was a perfect storm that hit the Spurs. Part of that was Randolph being in the zone. I know - it helped that the Spurs defence broke down, especially when Bonner was guarding him. But he probably shot better in that series than he has in his whole career.

Did anyone watch Memphis in the second round that year, after they knocked the Spurs out? In two of the games Randolph shot 12-22 (.545) on the strength of a bunch short shots. But in the other five games, he shot
2-13 (.154)
8-22 (.364)
9-25 (.360)
3-9 (.333)
6-15 (.400)

That's not exactly the legendary shooting most of you are giving him credit for. When OKC didn't allow him to get shots at the rim, he was pretty much useless.
