after Achilles went down, having one or two of those super flops going down would've been too much ecstasy.

Lulz, if the other 29 were killed in a plane crash and filled their rosters with d-leaguers and we won a title that way I wouldn't give a shit..rings a ring..unless you're playing a bunch of 6'5 honkies from Rochester or Syracuse or something..

13' spurs would be the luckiest NBA champs in this century if the Heat lose to the spurs in the finals because of injury. OKC and Heat were supposed to be biggest obstacles in their way, but injuries may possible clear the road for them

There is no fucking luck in resting players in regular season. That was Spurs` way all year long. Dont overplay, limit minutes, be healthy and ready when it matter.

Get Timmy his 5th ring - period. All the rest is semantics, and two years from now nobody will remember that "Player X" or "Player Y" was injured.

We still don't know what's going to happen with the Pacers and Superfriends. History and logic would say that it will be Superfriends and the Spurs in the Finals but the games haven't been played so we don't know yet. If it's the Spurs and Superfriends, it will either be another watered down title for Superfriends or the Spurs will win championship number 5 which will end Superfriends. The Heat will lose a lot of money if Superfriends doesn't win the championship this year. They will lose a lot of bandwagon fans too. I would love that.

that Heat obstacle isn't very big if the Pacers can bully them so hard, they start flopping around like AIDS ridden seizure patients.

Agree. I've said all year the Spurs win a title only if injuries take out the top teams and it looks like that could happen.

Correlation does not equal causation. All you could say is that you don't know how the Spurs would have fared against the non-injured versions of these teams
But back to the OP's question, ya there was a big dumb koolaid grin on this guy's face.

I love fans say that if the Spurs win the championship this year. It won't be legit if there are injuries to the other teams.
BUT... When the Spurs go into the playoffs with a crapload of injuries (I.e. Manu getting hurt in the last game of the regular season against the suns a few years ago), the championship for whatever team that wins it is still legit?
You can't have it both ways. Shut the hell up.

I wonder how much Lakerfan latched on to PJax's asterisk talk when Timmy went down with a torn meniscus in 2000.

If Miami goes in with injuries then I would say the Spurs are the luckiest team to win a title. What other team has been as fortunate with top teams going down with injuries, Lakers, OK City, Miami (it that happens), Denver, GS(Lee and Curry).

That makes me wonder a theoretical question, actually - what would happen if one team was unable to finish a Finals? Let's say one team is leading the series 2-0 but then suffers an airplane accident. Does the winning team therefore forfeit the series (and title) to the losing team? Is there no winner?

You mean like if the whole team dies? I'm assuming that the season would just be forfeit. *no title this year in the record books.

You never want to wish or get giddy about an injury to any player. As a fan of both the Spurs and the game of basketball, I want to face the best team the East has to offer at full strength and barring any injury so that when we win there are no excuses or any shoulda coulda wouldas

Kinda similar to Goku letting Freeza go 100% full power so there would be no excuses between the two. Id much rather find out if my Spurs are the best by beating the best.

I don't want LeBron to get hurt so the Spurs can win the finals. I want LeBron to get hurt because I hate his fucking guts.
No one calls it luck when a front runner crashes his car in the Daytona 500 because he's running too hard and taking too many chances. It's not luck that the 2nd car became the 1st one to cross the line. Same in the NBA. You start the race and you either finish 1st or you do not. Excuses be damned.
I like Lebron, don't want him to get hurt. I don't want any of them to get hurt. Wouldn't mind seeing Wade eaten alive by a shark, or Philibeaner set on fire at halfcourt and extinguished with rocks thrown by the crowd, but hurt? Nah.

I don't care in the least if people put an asterisk next to a Spurs championship because the opposing team was at half-strength. I want what gives the Spurs a better chance of winning.
Given the choice between a 70% chance of defeating an injury-depleted team, or a 50% chance of defeating a healthy team at full strength, I'd take the 70% every time.
5 titles, if won, would be 5 titles. It's not like people would say "The Spurs have won 4-and-a-half championships."
