I figured since we have some down time, we could talk about what we would like to see this offseason, or the draft.

so first of all our roster right now. I don't think there will be much change. Splitter will be brought back. this will cost some money however. but there will be some freed up with manu hopefully/probably taking less. dejuan blair and tracy mcgrady will be gone. patty mills will probably be gone as well. If we did bring mills back I could see us trying to trade de colo. but I think mills goes to a team where he can be the primary backup point. Diaw is one I don't know about. I could see us going another direction but then again I could see him coming back on a cheap contract as well. So right now I will say he comes back. baynes will take over blair role next year. which in my mind is an up grade.

One guy I could see us trying to trade would be gary neal. and there might be a market for him with his shooting ability. i live in utah and the jazz could use a guy like neal. It sure would be nice to try and pry their second first rounder for him. But in the end I believe neal comes back as well.

The new guy for the team outside the draft I believe will be davis bertans. A guy that can play the SF position but also the stretch 4 if needed. maybe he makes bonner expendable?:downspin:

So the draft now.

1. livio jean-charles SF- he is out of france and is playing in the "A" league over in europe as a 19 year old he has great size and length. 6'9" with a 7'2" wingspan. He could sit one or two more year in europe or even come over right away and start learning.

some good video of him in these links.

2. dewayne dedmon C- comes in a litte older at 24 but I don't think it is anything our front office worries about. is a 7'er with a 7'4" wingspan. great shot blocker. also has a very good jump shot which help to not clog the lane. probably starts in austin.

of course, between the 2 names, i was more intrigued by the 7 foot tall shotblocker :lol

he's still raw for sure, but if he can step out and hit the 12-15 foot jumper a la Kurt Thomas, he'd be a good fit. don't want to deandre jordan type player minus the athleticism. plus with baynes showing the ability to shoot a little, its an intriguing idea for sure to draft dedmon. neal is likely to walk, so i think we'd have to look into a reserve shooter, unless de colo puts some serious work in and becomes a full time 2-guard. green is still improving that in between game, but manu's game and minutes will continue to decline.

but if this frenchie can improve his outside shot to the point he wouldn't be some sort of aminu type player, we can definitely find a spot for him too. when i see these long, athletic wings, the thing that comes to my mind is defense, but sometimes these guys hold back offenses.

you wonder if they bring adam hanga over then? he was brought in last offseason and told to work on things. he is a 6'6" athletic kid that has improved his shot.

Hanga will probably get a look in the offseason, they'll bring him over and he'll spend some time. I know Pop wanted to bring him over in 3 years after they drafted him so we'll see. I really think the Spurs will have to evaluate where they want to go during the offseason especially if they win one this year.

i'm really liking Tayshaun Prince. he was very good for the Spurs in the memphis series. you could tell every time he was about to take a shot, spurs fans were salivating with anticipation. he was great in defense, too. every time the ball went thru him, the offense stops dead.

Well, with a Spurs 5th title we might see Tony Parker release another French rap album.
