View Full Version : Spurs: The Spurs had the easiest path to the finals maybe ever..

Here's why::

They purposely try to avoid the Lakers, in doing so, drop to the 2nd seed..the easier path to the finals..

Kobe injures his Achilles and there goes any fight the Lakers have..Kobe's healthy, the Lakers win at least 1-2 games..

The Nuggets lose Gallo which dampers their typical productivity..Warriors catch fire and beat the Nuggets but in doing so suffer an injury to Lee and Curry..

Spurs draw the hot but young Warriors..fluke out a game 1 win and then benefit from Curry reinjuring his ankle..there goes the any fight the Warriors had..

Instead of drawing the Thunder, they draw an offensive mediocre team in the Grizzlies who barely beat the Chimpbrook-less Thunder in 5 close games..a Grizzlies team who also flukely eliminated the hobbled Clippers, a team that should have gone further..

The Spurs are the luckiest team ever, tbh..

Milwaukee? <-- :lmao

Chicago were missing half their team.

Indiana is full of chuckers and dumbasses like Stephenson and George who don't know how to give up the ball into the post. I would be embarrassed for my team if they were tied 2-2 to that team. Memphis would beat the Pacers in 6 games :lol

Not of all time but probably one of the easiest for a Western Conference team. 2007 was easier for the Spurs than this year.

1/10 troll attempt. The Heat are just struggling with easier opponents.

brb facing a team with the DPOY and 3 All-Defensive players (including highest vote receiver Tony Allen) is easy.

The Hamilton-Billups Pistons had easy paths to the Finals in my opinion. 2002 and 2003 Nets probably had the easiest for an Eastern Conference team. The Eastern Conference was extremely bad from 2002 to 2007. How many teams won 50 or more games in the Eastern Conference during that span? I say 4 to 7.

The Spurs' path to the Finals was of average difficultly. Not historically easy like the '09 Lakers, who didn't play a team as good as the Grizzlies in their run.

The Grizzlies did indeed have limitations, but were still a very, very good team. Before the series started, the majority of fans and analysts picked them to beat the Spurs. And they were correct in their presumption based on how the Grizzlies, who were peaking, entered the series and the matchup problems they presented to the Spurs.

The reason Memphis appeared to be an "easy" opponent was because Tony Parker went nuclear and Tim and Tiago turned into the Wallace brothers defensively. Two things no one saw coming.

The coasting excuse is funny. Talk about going full retard if the Heat really are "coasting". Every game = more chance of injury. Any sane coach/team/organization knows that if you have the ability to crush someone, you fucking do it. The Heat almost lost Bosh and James in the same game because of "coasting". Meh. Had the Spurs finished with the 1 seed, they would most likely have had the Grizz in the 2nd round and Warriors in the WCF. Basically the same path.

But yeah, they played a 7 seed, 6 seed and 5 seed to get here. It was incredibly easy.

OP, I always say usually the team that wins it all gets the easiest route and alot of luck their way(except for maybe Mavs of 2011). If you look at alot of the championship teams, they all have similar stories to the Spurs of this year with the right players getting injured at the right time.

To the Spurs credit, they are usually on the bad end of their players getting injured this time of the year.

1. LA was hot and on a streak playing well without Kobe(something you moron fans won't admit). They came to SA and their streak DIED. It isn't our fault your future "franchise player" coulnd't lead his team to one playoff game.

2. The Warriors are BETTER without David Lee, so don't give me that shit. The proof will be in the pudding once he is shipped off his offseason. GS WAS THE HOTTEST TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS and we cooled them off, shut them down.

3. We faced the Grizz, who up until we swept were crowned "The reincarnation of the 04 pistons" by the national media, no one gave us a chance to beat them. Also, we got the HEALTHIEST team left in the west. How is that in anyway the easiest path? Wouldn't the easiest path be getting the beat up Clippers? or the Westbrookless Thunder? Yeah, instead we got a healthy, streaking, tough team and fucking swept them.

This wasn't a TOUGH path but it wasn't the easiest at all. Very dumb post.

I think Miami had an easier path. You can make a case that the Bucks were a better team than the Lakers, but it's no contest between the injury rattled Bulls and the hot Warriors. When comparing Griz and Pacers I bet any team would have picked the later to play against.

But in the end it doesn't matter. You can only beat the teams you play against.

The path wasn't that hard, I'd agree, but then sweeping two of the three teams and losing only twice in 14 games against all above .500 teams isn't easy at all.

However, the hardest thing any team this year has done is the Lakers finding a way to spend 120m on team that gets crushed in the 1st round by a fool's gold team like the Spurs.

Me and a lot of Spurs fans saw this shit coming from miles away. In timvp's pussy thread I said that Parker had been torching the Grizzlies in recent years and that the lack of shooting from Memphis would be their downfall 'cause it would allow us to defend them like we defended the Lakers. There are probably no Heat fans on this site in reality.

The fact that a person can easily create another user name and select any team they want is a testament to that probability, as most new names you'll see are alts of existing members. They look for anything they can find to entertain the chosen few, so that they will be exalted among these few, and in turn create a more lasting name for themselves.

You cannot troll effectively from the loser's seat. It's why names like Kool, Luva and Dale have left.

Usually theres at least three championship caliber teams in the west. Even if one goes down due to injury, you still have to play the other one eventually.

That wasnt the case this year.

That 09 Nuggets team was WAY better than Memphis. Memphis doesn't have anyone that can score. They are a 5 seed who traded away one of their better players, despite it not really making them any better or worse.

The fact that the Nuggets have an incredible HCA is another reason why it was that much harder.

Here's why::

The irony here is that if the Heat choke, you might have some legs to stand on.
