I turned on the TV to play some video games. When it came on, the channel was on ESPN and this guy and Bruce were talking about the ECF. Bruce was talking about Lebron being there many times, that many people have challenged him. He said it in a way that made it seem like none of those challengers ever got the best of Lebron. Except that HE did. I thought it was pretty funny and classy of him.

Bruce Bowen always had the best defensive player manning the paint on his team (Mourning, then Duncan). Just saying...

With authority. Probably still haunts 'Bron in his nightmares. :toast

I dunno about what others said, but I did say he got the best of Lebron in that 07 finals. That's different from him shutting 'Bron down. IIRC, Bron's numbers were bad during the first 2 games, but they got better during the last 2.

Not sure what you are implying this could possibly have to do with Bowen being one of the greatest perimeter lock down defenders ever. It's not like his reputation was earned based on opponent teams' overall offensive stats.

Yea, I just posted this in another thread. I was very surprised and disappointed to hear him say that too. Even Bill Simmons disagreed with him. lol

Yeah, not sure how playing with a premier defensive anchor your whole career could possibly impact Bowen. Solid point.

Or more likely not wanting to come across as biased. The River Hate is flowing deeply and swiftly these days. 5 in 13 has a high likelihood of inducing mass suicides in Lakerland.

With the 4 (so far) titles and the best winning percentage in all of pro sports in the US during Tim's reign, I don't see how it isn't a dynasty.

Or the fact that every other team considered a dynasty has defended their title at least once. Don't let that faze you though:tu

I don't consider them a dynasty. Only one per decade:

50s: Lakers
60s: Celtics
70s: Nobody
80s: Lakers
90s: Bulls
2000s: Lakers
2010s: Miami Heat pretty much a lock

Not really. THey aren't a lock to win it this year, but even if they do, wade and a lot of the role players are only getting older. And who knows how long Lebron stays.

Too bad the Rockets and Bulls teams never ran into each other in the Finals. Bulls probably still win, but prime Hakeem may have made it competitive.

I would consider the Spurs a dynasty based on consistency alone. Look how many fucking years they've had 50+ wins and made the playoffs. Not many other teams, if any, can match up to that streak.

IIRC, this forum said Bruce slowed Lebron down a bit in 2007 Finals, did NOT shut him down.

Did not shut him down maybe, but did way more than "slowed him down a bit" tbh. We're not talking about a regular defender here, we're talking about Bruce Bowen.

To quote a post I wrote in 2008:

LeBron's performance in the 2007 playoffs:

LeBron's stats in the 1st round (against Washington)
- 27.7 pts, 8.5 rbs, 7.5 ast, 1.75 stls, .75 blk, 1.75 turnovers.
- FG: 42.5% (8.5/20) // 3P: 26.7% (1/3.75) // FT: 81.3%
- Hollinger Game Score avg = 24.575

LeBron's stats in the 2nd round (against the Nets)
- 24.6 pts, 7.33 rbs, 8.5 ast, 1.17 stls, .33 blk, 2.83 turnovers.
- FG: 42.3% (7.8/18.5) // 3P: 30.8% (1.33/4.33) // FT: 75.4%
- Hollinger Game Score avg = 19.97

LeBron's stats in the East Finals (against Detroit)
- 25.6 pts, 9.17 rbs, 8.5 ast, 2.67 stls, .5 blk, 3.17 turnovers.
- FG: 44.9% (8.83/19.67) // 3P: 35.7% (0.83/2.33) // FT: 74.1%
- Hollinger Game Score avg = 22.92

Average of those 3 series BEFORE San Antonio :
- 26.03 pts, 8.33 rbs, 8.17 ast, 1.86 stls, .53 blk, 2.58 turnovers.
- FG: 43.2% (8.38/19.39) // 3P: 31.1% (1.39/3.47) // FT: 76.9%
- Hollinger Game Score avg = 22.488

LeBron's stats in the NBA Finals (against San Antonio)
- 22 pts, 7 rbs, 6.75 ast, 1 stl, .5 blk, 5.75 turnovers.
- FG: 35.6% (8/22.5) // 3P: 18.2% (1/5.5) // FT: 69.0%
- Hollinger Game Score avg = 10.575

In short, he was worse in every single statistical category : minus 4 points, 1.33 rebounds and 1.42 assists from his playoffs average. All his percentages drop dramatically and he more than doubled his turnovers. His game score is less than half his playoffs' average.

Those are Bruce Bowen's stats for you right there :)

Our dynasty runs from 1997-2013 and if it weren't for the league changing rules, letting teams make ridiculously one sides trades (celtics, lakers) and some ridiculously called playoff games .la vs sac game 6. The spurs would be a dynasty. Ours is a dynasty not held back by other teams but by a conspiracy of an organization that would not let a small market team become a dynasty and ruin his league. David Stern is leaving this year and if the spurs win the title it's payback for all the bullshit he has put this organization and city through for his ratings and his leagues popularity. If the spurs win this year it's to make amends,
