View Full Version : Mavs: Mavs game 2 2011 Finals come back - 2 years ago today

2 years ago today, the Mavs shocked the world, Superfriends, Stern, and even Dirk by coming back from 15 with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Mavs ended the game on a 22-5 run and Wade didn't get the ref love that he was expecting on that last second 3 pointer. An amazing moment for the Mavs and their fans. I was extremely shocked by the comeback but it was awesome.

You're just mad that your rapist lost to my Mavs in 2011 and wasn't able to play Lecrab and Superfriends in the Finals that year.

I loved it and the championship for numerous reasons. I loved how no one could give Mavs fans any shit about being ringless and losers. I loved how Dirk became a winner and no one could use the "nowinski" or "noringski" shit anymore. That championship shut the haters up or at least made them get some new material.

How in Gods Green Earth are the Lakers relevant?..only time they get mentioned is when someone wants to point and laugh

IMO one of the most dominant playoff runs of all time. They went through the toughest teams including sweeping the defending champs. Well deserved.

The Mavs pissed me off a lot during the prime years of their rivalry with the Spurs but I ain't gon lie and say that wasn't an impressive as fuck game even for them. Was also cool to see Dirk break through by slapping his nuts on the table and taking the damn trophy instead of lobbying two other all-stars to join his team. The only sour part of the Mavs winning in 2011 to me is that little faggot Jason Terry getting a ring.

Unfortunately, then Cuban decided a starting C of an 'ship team isn't worth $10M per year and let other pieces go too.

Kudos to Mavs for winning that series. Hope Spurs can do the same. Keep Heat with only lockout shortened season title.

My Mavs have a championship. According to the logic on this board, since I am a Mavs' fan that would mean that I have a championship. I love it.

I put them in contention at the beginning when they acquired TC and everyone was hanging Donnie Nelson and jumping ship.

I'd say moreso. They aren't 128m poorer than they were last year (never mind that titan of a TV contract).

blah blah blah

That really was one of the most impressive postseason runs ever.

Sweeping the 2 time defending champions, Phil Jackson led Lakers, beating the Harden/Westbrook/Durant Thunder in 5 games and then of course beating the Heat.

:lol Even the Blazers were the 'lower seeded team nobody wanted to play' and in hindsight, a lot of people picked them to upset Dallas in the 1st round. (healthy Brandon Roy, Gerald Wallace, Lamarcus Aldridge, Andre Miller, Wes Matthews)

Mavs got theirs, and tbh Mavfan has become way more tolerable because of it. Good run nigs.

Mavsfans finally started acting like they been there before, cause they finally got there. Only minus was that Terry got a ring as posted earlier. I was happy for Dirk and Mav fan tbqh, they went through some shit to get to the top

No, they're not. The Lakers are ALWAYS relevent son. Your thinking is shallow. Try harder

This is true. But to even think that the Lakers are somehow poorer due to their $128M payroll is ignorant. You're smarter than that son.

Lakers so relevant that Kobe has to make surprise announcements on twitter to keep himself relevant while "Jim Duncan" is duking it out in the playoffs. lol.

Just another championship team. :lol at calling them a dominant championship team, niggas caught lightning in a bottle at the right time which I guess was only right considering how many times they had choked away possible titles.

No team in the NBA goes to 4 finals in a row. The Lakers were obviously tired from a 3 year run of Finals appearances and Gasol was dealing with pussy problems.

2010 Lakers beat Dallas in 5.

Best Mavs team was in 07' tbh.

So 128m investment tanks and it doesn't make them poorer than they would have been otherwise?

How does that work, exactly. I'm sure DoK would love to get his hands on that ground breaking information.

there's always that "lower seed nobody wants to play" but i cant remember any one of those teams outside of 2011 memphis and 2007 GS to really make an impact

question for mavs fans:

can the 2011 mavs beat this 2013 heat team?

Jacob1983
06-06-2013, 12:53 AM
Yes. My 2011 Mavs would beat this shitty Heat team. To be honest, the 2011 Heat team was better than the 2012 and 2013 Heat teams.

That was an epic game, one of the most enjoyable Finals games in recent history, tbh. Look at how happy Wade and Bron are when they go up 15, niggas had no idea what was coming to them, tbh.

Agreed. 2011 Heat had the weakest bench and depth but our D seemed to be more consistent and Wade in the finals was at the top of his game... too bad Bron didn't show up to the party.

In 2012 Bron and Wade were the most consistent they've been together, despite the speed bump that was Indy. D was the best out of the 3 yrs and bench was much improved. Spo also somehow seemed to outcoach every opposing coach in the playoffs, unlike this year.

In 2013 the team on paper is much better, but the play has been inconsistent both on offense and defense. LBJ is better but the rest of the team because of injuries or just not getting it done, is not as potent.
