Not long ago, this was a conference game in the Southwest Conference. But now the two teams will face off for the first time since 1991, a season before Arkansas left for the SEC. By 1996, the Southwest Conference had folded and the Big 12 was born."Texas Tech and Arkansas had many memorable games while conference foes in the Southwest Conference, so this should be very exciting for the fans," Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt said in a release. "We feel like we will be placing ourselves in great position as we kickoff the College Football Playoff era in 2014, with a non-conference opponent the caliber of Arkansas and a challenging Big 12 schedule."Texas Tech won the last meeting 38-21.

Seems like a good fit. Both second tier football schools. Well Tech could arguably be third tier but Arkansas desperately needs more exposure in Texas.

You do realize historically Arkansas is more relevant that aggsy have ever been. You are slightly more relevant than tech is but not by much.

I swear, decent season with a bowl win and you would think aggsy fans are on the level of Alabama.

I am just happy to be playing a BCS school in OOC games.

I'm split.

If I thought Tech had a shot at a title, I'd be very against it.

Should be good games though

I understand your thought process, but those shitty schedules Leach brought were always disappointing. I remember some team, we were up something like 80 to 7 with more than a quarter left. Specifics may be a little wrong...I was pretty drunk, but I spent the second half of the game over at Mesquites.

There was just something for fun about doing a home and home with schools like Ole Miss and NC State. Can't say I like the idea of playing somebody like Ohio State in OOC again. But lower tier BCS opponents I miss. And playing division 1A teams (yeah I know they changed the name) bores the hell out of me. At least play Div 1 teams.

Besides I don't see Tech competing for a NC in a while. Love KK but he aint a magician.
