I was wondering which NBA team has the more loyal fanbase, in your opinion?

IMO, there's a couple of teams out there. For example, I thought the Kings fans really fought when it looked like their team was going to relocate...

Sure, the ones who wanted to keep watching the team for free. If they were that loyal, they wouldn't consider moving because they would be sold out on the season tickets.

Loyalty is easy when it costs nothing.

Prolly Blazer fans tbh. All of their big-name players seem to blow out their knees year after year and their team remains mostly irrelevant, yet they continue to sell out at home.

people who could afford the front seats ain't all lakers fans imho, and they probably ain't even homegrown LA citizens to begin with. most of them are celebrities or media personalities from all over the country who currently reside in LA, and they only attend the game because they're obsessed with crowd and cameras just like i was with scarface joderson

So let me get this straight, there's a BILLION things to do in LA but every single season game is in essence sold out with RIP OFF ticket prices and RIP OFF parking fees. Even the top nose bleed seats which run around $100-150 a game are sold out. But Spurs fans that have NOTHING better to do in SA wont even go to games even though most tickets are $10-20 in the nosebleeds. So they had to design a 'free ticket day'. LOL

I don't deny Laker fans suck because of the quiet noise level. I just think its funny that Staples is always sold out during Laker games and fan 'loyalty' is questioned.

Bulls, Warriors and Knicks were some of the best. Despite their teams drought, the fans stood by their team for a decade(s).

And oh the Heat too... Eastern Semis, Pivotal Game 5.

Clippers were in top 10 in 2012 and 2013 (7th overall) 13th in 2011.

2008-2010 we dipped in the 20th overall range.

Worse was in 2003-2004 IIRC, this were the shittiest years in the decade 25th. Elton brand, Olowokandi, Maggette and Andre Miller years. Elton Brand era rebounded in 05-06 ranking 11th and despie missing the playoffs in 2007 landed 13th overall, no surprise there since they made the playoffs.

Either way, Kobe with 5 rings is still a worthy accomplishnment, but we being Lakers fans are just greedy that way knowing it would mean so much if he could get that coveted 6th ring.

2013 - Kobe will be coming off his achilles, possibly no Dwight Howard, just the same Lakers team 1 year older with no future player to build on.

2014 - Kobe's contract expires. Many already have said Lakers likely won't fetch a player like LeBron / Carmelo because Dwight's not here, so that means if Kobe does re-sign, it's another year of mediocrity trying to squeeze into the Playoffs for a now 36 yr old Kobe playing with a 41 yr old Nash and someone like a Rudy Gay or Danny Granger in 2014.

Will Kobe ever win his 6th ring? Or does it look like it may end at 5?

The original poster asks a great question witch I have been thinking about all pre/post season and I wish I had a good answer but I don't but since I have bean thinking about it for so long I will share my thoughts and sea what you guys think. 1) If the Lakers start off bad next year like this year and it became obvious that we would not have the home coart in the 1st round of the playoffs I would totally be onbored with Kobe asking for a trade and that team would be my next favorite team (tied with Lakers) for winning it all even if he went to Boston or Miami or Clippers as long as it means Kobe getting #6 tying Jordan and basically sementing his place as the greatast of all time (GOAT but not the farm animal) 2) why do all of these people I talk to compare Kobe to Pippin and Manu I mean it seams so stupid but I don't know how to respond when they say we missed the play offs without dominent big men like Shaq or Pau or Bynum (LOL) but I cant figure out how to respond so please help with some arguments/replendencies.

Tough one. I would say Bulls fans though. They were still packing that place even when they were losing 60 games a year, knowing full well they wouldn't win more than like 30 in a given year.

I would say spurs, but lets see what happens when timmy/pop retire

You post on Spurstalk, and you really think Spurfans are the most loyal? :lol Way too many dickless bandwagoners on this site to make me ever think Spurfans are loyal as a whole. They lose a few games in a row and a bunch of people start making threads and posting about how the team needs to go into rebuilding mode and how Duncan needs to retire and Pop needs to be replaced.

I go to their games when interesting teams come to town. Their fans are usually outnumbered. They never sell out. You can add the number of Duh-white's children to the women who birthed those children and that is close to the number of Bullet fans.

If you are a fan of Wizards you are loyal by default.

Besides the shitty teams who obviously have got the most loyal fan base ( percentage wise anyways) the most loyal fans are probably Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Blazers

They may have the better team, but I will say this: being a Spurs fan is the easiest thing in the world. It's been 15 years since San Antonio has missed the Playoffs. They've only missed the Playoffs 4 times in franchise history. Almost every single year, they've finished at the top of the Conference, won the Division Title, and been a Championship contender. None of these "fans" have EVER had to deal with any kind of adversity even CLOSE to what we as Laker fans have been through. Heck, they're most disappointing season in the past decade was probably when they lost to us in round 1 and even then they won the Division and were the #1 seed.

Not saying they're team hasn't earned it, but San Antonio Spurs fans are among the world's most spoiled sports fans. Wonder how many of those "fans" would stick around after 3 consecutive 22-24 win seasons after being swept in the first round 3 years in a row. My guess is, not many.

Yes this is probably just a jealous rant, but am I wrong?

I think you have to look at how a team comes out to support their team, when their team is down and they suck. More than likely the smaller market teams where no other professional team exists in the city will see more loyalty during those down years. But who can say really...

Seeing some of the games being played in their home court, Celtics and OKC are the teams that first come out of my head when talking about loyal fans with the way they filled up the seats of their home arena even before the game starts, unlike in Miami where seats are still unoccupied even after 3 mins have gone by since tipoff. I may also throw in Toronto for the reason that they are the only NBA team in Canada and people living there cherish it to avoid what just transpired at Sacramento. They support their team even though the Raptors have been irrelevant (since the creation of their franchise?). Their future/next season looks bright, fortunately.

Jumping the shark? :P I don't think you have that one right dude. I think you mean jumping the gun. Jumping the shark is something else. No big deal though, I know what you meant anyway. :P

I do think of that as not being loyal though. It's one think if you're upset with a player or the team for blowing a game (the knee jerk reaction thing), but quite another to constantly bash the team and it's players and/or always insisting they can't win and saying they need to blow up the team and just rebuild since they "suck too much" or have "no chance" all season long. . .and still saying it even when they finish with top seeds and get to the WCF and Finals. That's the kind of "fan" I was referring to.

Is that really being a fan? Or just a troll disguised as one? I still see "fans" making bets the Heat will win. They're not fans to me, just quitters who quit being a fan long ago after being mad they didn't win one year. Spoiled quitters, not fans imo.

Lakers fans, the real ones, are pretty loyal ...... one can say that about every fan base. Boston lost that when the Garden started giving MVP chants to Bryant and that wasn't from all Laker fans. Knix have a very loyal base. Could be at the top since they haven't won jack since 1973. Gave Bryant MVP chants as well ....

When your options are:

a) stay at home hearing your wetback wife and 10 little beaners screaming all day
b) hang out in a dirty shit hole of a city
c) watch the San Antonio Cucks practically for free

I think San Antonians will always go with the latter but that doesn't really make them loyal tbh. The other options are just extremely shitty so they pick the less shitty option.
