I started watching the NBA in 1999 when the Spurs won their first championship.

And to me the East has always been complete and utter garbage. I remember when the Pacers or the Nets would come out of it in the mid 2000's and they would just get rolled in the Finals. It was a complete joke. In 2007 I was celebrating early when the Cavs came out of the East and I told EVERYONE before the Finals started that I was absolutely positive we would sweep the Cavs. And we did. Of course.

And the Heat winning in 06 was a fluke. Dwayne Wade got every call imaginable. The Pistons and Celtics surprised the Lakers, who at that point were just kind of bored winning all the time.

And just look at the East this year. It was HORRIBLE. No wonder the Heat won so many games and 27 straight. The Milwaukee Bucks would have been THE worst team in the West. The Hornets would have slaughtered them in the playoffs. And Chicago was a SHELL all year and they still managed to beat the Nets in a playoff series. That's how bad the East is. A shell of a team took out one of their better teams.

And everyone is giving the Pacers mad love right now. Please. The Spurs clobbered them twice this season. And the Pacers are more offensively challenged than the Grizzlies (If that's possible). They wouldn't come CLOSE to beating the Spurs in the Finals. They would get swept. Calling it now.

You know what this Miami-Indiana series reminds me of? The Cavs-Pistons in 07. Lebron got every call and the better team ended up losing the series in 7. If we played Detroit that year we still would have won. But would we have swept them? Hell no.

I don't see the Pacers winning tonight. In fact I'm positive they won't win. But IF they do. Then I'm celebrating. Because the Spurs just won another Championship.

your arguments actually make it look more competitive than it is, you should just have pointed out that Stout, Melo and Joe Johnson are the more paid players in the conference, that much was enough.

From 1999-2007, the Western and Eastern Conference were like the NFC and AFC in NFL football from the 1980s-1990s.

The West simply was superior to the East like the NFC was to the AFC.

every conference is going to go through it's shit period ........ saw this post on LG once about the Lakers being the only team in the 80s to win 60 games in an entire decade. How is that shit possible?

if the mavs played in the east they would've finished 6-7th at least and made the 2nd round with ease
