my servers are still crunching the numbers. had to order a new 24 server farm from Amazon. configuring some shit and will come out with the prediction later rather than sooner. Phython scripts will probably run overnight.

but it's not looking pretty. Heat can turn it on anytime they want. Not looking pretty at all :(

agree with this. Pacers are one of the most overrated teams in recent times.

I mean a team that is composed of 2 good bigmen, and 1 near allstar and
- George Hill starting PG :lol
- Lance Stephenson, a damn scrub
- Tyler Hasbro :lol
- Ian Mahinmi :rollin

I'll go with Spurs in 6. Sure, Miami still scares me tbh, but they haven't looked this vulnerable since the early parts of 2010. They've got a good first 5, but their bench is screwed up. When you got Sam Young as your 6th man, you're pretty screwed. To make things worse, Frank Vogel who's usually a good coach is......making questionable decisions thus far(sitting Hibbert in game1, and I heard that he sat BOTH George and Hibbert for a long time during tonight's 2ndQ, I think). If a team like that's pushing Miami to the brink, imagine how much damage this Spurs team can do, considering they got better players and are better coached.

Hard to call. The Heat looked like shit for most of the Pacers series but it looks like they had no trouble turning it on for Game 7. The Spurs seem like their defense have gotten better and better as the playoffs have gone on and I think the rest vs. rust will work in their favor overall. I've been saying the whole playoffs that the Spurs can't beat the Heat but something in me just won't count Tim Duncan out. Him stepping up in those overtime games shows me that he's extremely determined to get one more ring.

All that said, I'm going against what I've been saying and taking the Spurs in 7. The home/road thing has not really mattered that much to this Spurs team in the playoffs and it will stay that way. They steal one in Miami...lose one in SA...then take Game 7 in a thriller.

dbreiden83080
06-03-2013, 09:46 PM
Heat D is swarming in the half court. Spurs have to beat them with ball movement and depth.. Tony needs the series of his career, Tim needs to score in the post not just with the jumper and Kahwi has to exhaust himself chasing Lebron all over the court.. Maybe Manu shows up with a little vintage game and doesn't just turn the ball over..

Spurs in 6..

CGD
06-03-2013, 09:48 PM
Miami in 6 sadly. Miami has to be the favorite, though, ESPN will cast them as the underdog after this series. I don't think the Spurs present the same inside threats that the the Pacers did notwithstanding Timmy's awesome play this year. Spurs just dont pound it in enough to punish Lebron for guarding the 4.

I hate the 2-3-2 format since it is very rare for the home team in that middle stretch to win all 3 games. If the Spurs don't split in those first two games, I see them being on the wrong side of 3-2 heading back to Miami. Hope I'm wrong.

100% Agree. The Pacers are just AWFUL. They would have lost to any team in the West except that D-league squad the Lakers put out there. The fact that they pushed Miami to 7 games says WAY more about how flawed the Heat are rather than how 'good' the Pacers are.

I'd like to believe it, and I think the Spurs are good enough to do it.

BUT - I don't think that's the NBA storyline they looking for. It certainly wasn't Spurs v. Pacers and they took care of that. The Spurs HAVE a storyline - Timmy etc, but this will all be about the Spurs Dynasty passing to the Heat Dynasty. Lebron's "Time" that wasn't in 2007 etc. I guess I'm hoping that the NBA decides to build the suspense by giving us this one, in anticipation of the "Re-match" next year? But that's unlikely. Unfortunately, whether deliberately orchestrated by the league or by media influence or whatever it might be, the games (and by that I mean officiating) are far too influenced by what is written/talked about before each game and by what can be written or talked about after.

Tough tough series to call. I want to anti-jinx it by calling it Heat in 4.

My hopes is Spurs in 5. If it drags out too long it means it's tight and LeBron is too good to shut down in a bigger game. Miami could easily win a game 7 at home.

HarlemHeat37

Spurs have a realistic chance of beating Miami, they have the bigs and passing attack to expose Miami's flaws..however, this series against Indiana doesn't really have much to do with the Spurs, tbh:lol..

The Heat struggle against physical teams, just like last year, when most people picked OKC to destroy them in the Finals, tbh..

The Spurs are a great defensive team, but they are not a physical team, obviously..

Indiana had a massive FT advantage against Miami for most of the series, despite a similar total of points in the paint and fastbreak points for both teams..

If the Spurs get as many FTAs as the Pacers did, they will easily beat Miami, tbh..

it does have a lot of similarities. Only exception is Spurs have championship and Finals experience on both player and coaching side. Spurs are the more experienced team this time.

OKC never knew what hit them and choked in the big stage. That won't happen to Spurs.

Spurs have a fighting chance if they played like they did in game 3 vs the Grizzlies. Both the offense and defense clicked at the same time. The big 3 were scoring, Manu had 19 good points, and Tiago went 5-5 FG. But the problem is that have to play like that every game, not just once every 3-4 games. They also have to pray Lebron goes into 2011 mode and inexplicably start deferring to Wade.

I'll say Heat in 5 because I'm pretty sure Stern still has a vendetta against the Spurs for showing him up earlier this season. He's been biding his time so he can crush the Spurs when it will hurt the most. Heat will almost drown in the free throws they'll get.

I have been watching the way Miami defends the pick and roll. They always have a help man cheat off someone to stop the roll, leaving someone open almost all the time... Indiana, when they ran the pick and roll, usually kicked it out to the open man and that created wide open shots... They should have capitolized on this more.

Spurs will put on a clinic if Miami thinks they can cheat off of our shooters to stop Parker (or whoever it may be) on the roll. We will just kick it out to the open man, if they have someone try and cheat off someone else to close in on that shooter, our ball movement will just break them down.

Spurs in 5 or 6. And thats only due to rust after such a long layoff. I actually wouldnt be suprised if we sweep. It's almost looking like 2007 again with Lebron carrying all the load and his team mates failing to contribute meaningfully.

Since I started following the league, I can't remember a more difficult Finals to predict. Sure, there's been upsets ('04 Pistons, '06 Heat, '11 Mavericks), but that's different. There wasn't equally compelling reasons to pick both teams in those instances; this is the exact opposite.

I'll go Spurs in six (with wins in games 2, 3, 5 and 6). The same desperation level that the '11 Mavs had, the Spurs will have, even if this core has a bunch of championships and even if this team has a better chance of getting back than that team had. It's a level of desperation the Heat simply can't match. Plus, they're perfectly suited from a strategic standpoint to beat this team.

Miami matches up better against the Spurs. Can the Spurs rebound and not turn the ball over? My guess is no; and they can't stop Lebron in 7. To win this series, Spurs have to win twice in Miami cause I don't think they win 3 in a row in SA.

Upset potential if Spurs are reenergized instead of rusty.

The Miami Heat are one of the greatest teams ever assembled. They rank with the Jordan bulls as this is their 3rd year in a row in the finals and will probably be back next year.

With all that said, the world will soon realize and come to appreciate how Great The Spurs are. Spurs in 6 in spectacular fashion, with Tim, Tony and Manu simply being unstoppable.

You know what's remarkable? It seems that most people here are either predicting a cruising, lopsided victory for the Spurs or a cruising, lopsided victory for the Heat. Two pretty evenly matched teams, yet a lot of people, rather than predicting a 6-game or 7-game series, are predicting a sweep or a victory in 5.

Keys to win: 1. Make it a half court game.
2. Parker to Duncan and Manu to Thiago ... all night long. Nobody in the post can stop the Spurs big.
3. Got to abuse their bigs. Just don't let TheBron in transition.
4. Rebound and make the 3s when they double team the bigs.

ESPN's panel has it 13-5 for the Heat. All have it going 6 or 7.

http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2013/matchup/_/teams/heat-spurs

3 have Heat in 6, 10 have Heat in 7, 5 have Spurs in 6, so they mostly make sense. If it goes to a game 7, I'd predict the Heat too.

But I'm going to go with Spurs in 6. Spurs win Game 1, Lose 2, Win 3, Lose 4, Win 5, Win 6.

Spurs in 6. W-L-W-L-W-W contingent on the Spurs stealing Game 1. They can't play from behind to the Heat. The Spurs are primed to steal Game 1, tbh. (Wanted to add that "tbh"...)

CHeat favored by 5.5 pts tonight

I'll take the Spurs plus 5 1/2 points every night in Every Gym

Some random points:

1. Spurs are much smarter with the ball on offense. Miami cheating on D will benefit Spurs. Overplaying by Heat must be exploited with the perimeter skip pass.

2. Spurs are not physical like IND. They must respond and match the intensity of the Heat swarming, ball slapping, fouling defense. They can't expect those calls and must play through it.

3. Parker must have the most efficient, effective series of his life. I have been very critical of Parker in the past, but I want nothing more than to be wrong about him and eat crow this series. He has developed into a true floor general that can score from the outside instead just a scoring point guard with no jumper. Props to him.

4. Manu must bring the goods this series. No stupid passes that result in Heat fast breaks. They will kill the Spurs momentum in games.

5. Rebound rebound rebound.

My heart says Spurs in 6 or 7.

ESPN's 13 out of 18 choice that Miami wins the title would beg to differ with your view

This is one of the toughest series to predict in my time as a Spurs fan because Miami really can be two completely different teams. When clicking, they can be one of the most dominant teams of all time tbh and that happens when Lebron starts driving and kicking to guys like chalmers, allen, and battier and they make their shots. We don't have a chance if that team shows up every game unfortunately. However, given how they've played against Indiana, I think we'd beat that team in 5 or 6. For about 5/7 games against Indiana, it was pretty much Lebron in cleveland where he had no help. We are built to stop him Wade and Bosh are no shows. I'm gonna say Spurs in 6, but I've never felt less confident with a prediction.

unfortunately I think the Finals will catch up to the new guys (Kawhi, Green, Tiago, Bonner). And unfortunately I don't see Manu turning it on all of a sudden. I am confident he will try his best.

Heat in 6 but I do reserve the right to change my mind up until tipoff game 1.

It's been a successful season regardless for Spurs. Duncan cemented himself as one of the GOAT, Parker cemented himself as a HOFer and Spurs beat all odds to become a household name again.

enjoy these finals. they are just gravy for us spursfans.

My hope is Spurs in 5, at home. Dream pick there.

Realistically? I can see Spurs in 6. I do think they need to play hard for game 1, but I will not be surprised if they lose it. So long as they split in MIA, they can win. They go down 0-2, I think the Heat take the series in 6.

Aw, hell. I'm not sure I can watch. God, I want Timmy to win #5.

I mean, Tony and Timmy and Manu (but mostly Timmy) fucking want this ring. They will battle for it. LeBron wants the ring, and a little revenge for 2007. DWade isn't as injured as I wish he was. He and Bosh can both show up and then it's a matter of praying we aren't in an offensive drought like what we witnessed against the Grizz. Our role players show, we're better. They don't, we're screwed. In many ways, this matchup is incongruous. A balance of extremes and similarities. In the end, I have to believe my Spurs can figure it out.
