Heat fans should be afraid of:

- Tim Duncan on both ends
- Leonard potentially guarding Wade
- Spurs passing attack against a swarming Miami D
- Duncan, Splitter and Diaw are all great passers
- Pop

Spurs fans should be afraid of:

- Miami's perimeter defense against Parker and Ginobili
- Miami's traps against Cory Joseph and Gary Neal
- Gary Neal and Danny Green's tendency to fall asleep against shooters
- Gary Neal covering anybody in this series
- Bosh's mid-range game
- Game 1 rust
- Lebron
- Kawhi Leonard guarding Lebron and being too worn out for rebounding/team defense
- Relying on shooters in clutch situations

I can only see the Spurs winning this series if they steal one of the first two in Miami and win their 3 at home... any other scenario, I just think Miami takes it. So I'm gonna go with the completely homer pick of Spurs in 5... but that's actually the only viable route I can see for the Spurs to win it all...

I don't the road home thing matters as much this year. The Spurs have played well on the road in these playoffs and I think they have a solid chance of winning Game 6 or 7 in Miami.

heat will be relieved that they dont have to face indiana anymore and now it's the spurs

they have too many good players and that pressure d against spurs offensive sets? it could be ugly for the spurs

if the spurs win 2/3 home games and stretch this to 6, i'll be stoked tbh

basically heat have to play average and spurs to play above their level ala mavs to win another championship

Spurs frontline really cant play much, if at all better than Indy's bigs did. They played a nearly perfect series, and still lost.

The problem is going to be how shitty the Spurs guards are on defense. Indy's guards were able to consistently make Miami work. Parker, Ginobili, Green, and Neal won't have the same success against Miami guards (Wade in particular) that Indy did. SA's only hope is that Wade plays as awful as he did against Indy. He won't.

Jacob1983

Spurs should win because they have been playing the best basketball throughout the playoffs. I know Heat nuthuggers will disagree but the Heat only played one good game against the Pacers which was game 7. The Heat barely beat the Pacers. And those free throws in game 7 definitely helped too. So I think the Spurs should win because they are better than the Heat. With that being said, the Spurs have to remember that the calls will not be in their favor and they will also be starting the NBA Finals on the road for the first time in franchise history. Even if Lecrab and his two lovers win this, it will be their last. Heat nuthuggers need to enjoy this because it will be the last time the AAA will be loud and sold out for a while.

Only reason it went 7 is cause it took Spoelstra 7 games to FINALLY start doubling Hibbert in the post. If they'd done that since game one, it would've been a sweep tbh.

The Mavs split the first two but lost game 3 at home and everyone thought it was over but look how it turned out. This is one of the few times I will root for the Spurs. I don't know about that. Outside of the Heat, the Spurs are the only team I'd give a realistic shot to to win a game 7 of the Finals on the road and we probably are due for a road team beating a championship caliber team in a game 7 period (off the top, I think Mavs over Spurs in '06 is the last), but still. To win this series, they probably have to pull it off in 6 . . . which is what I'm picking them in.

I'll say this though: I'm concerned that the Heat's shooters collectively (Bosh, in particular, who always kills the Spurs anyway) are due for at least some progression to the mean. High caliber defense or not, they've performed well below their usual standards in the post season and being able to play smaller more frequently against the Spurs will only improve their spacing.

I sure hope you're right on Bosh considering he's a 28% career 3pt shooter, shot 28% this regular season, and is 15/31 from distance in the playoffs thus far. That's a statistical anomaly if I've ever seen one.

This. The difference is West and Splitter. West made Miami pay for going small, especially with his shooting ability. Splitter won't be able to do the same. And as soon as the Spurs go small, they are f:lolcked

If Spo uses Bosh well (which he finally did in game 7 by having him attack Hibbert, and even though he didn't shoot real well, it put a lot more pressure on their bigs and opened the floor up more), Miami wins this easy.

What? Tim spaces the floor just fine and West was pretty garbage overall (11-17 in GM1, 2-9 in GM2, 8-16 in GM3, 5-11 in GM4, 7-16 in GM5, 5-14 in GM6 & 6-15 in GM7). Tim will play the same floor spacing role as West and will likely produce better. Plus Tim can go inside. Tiago will play more of the role of Hibbert (although the Spurs will use him in PnR more than Indy did Hibbert). Difference is, Spurs don't need all the scoring from their FC considering they have a PG that can score and shooters.

George Hill: Defensive Rating Reg Season - 102 / DefRtg Playoffs - 106
Lance Stephenson: Def Rating Reg Season - 101 / DefRt Playoffs - 102

Tony Parker: Defensive Rating Reg Season - 106 / DefRtg Playoffs - 101
Danny Green: Defensive Rating Reg Season - 102 / DefRtg Playoffs - 99

So, in the playoffs, TP and DG have quite easily been better defenders. By a decently wide margin considering Green has been by far the best of the group. Regular season TP was the worst, but he carries an offense and anyone who actually watches knows that when he focuses on defense (like say in the playoffs where it matters) he is a very quality defender. The gap in the playoffs is bigger than the gap in the regular season.

heat in 5 or 6.

Spurs can't handle the permiter defense and they don't have 2 dominant post players to play the pick and roll with a finisher under the basket, a play that miami defends exceptionally well (#1 in the league).
Not to mention that ray allen, battier, mike miller and chalmers are due to some 3pt shooting games given the spurs lethargic 3pt defense with neal/tony/a tired manu/foul trouble kwahi.
Who do you play against bosh? Get timmy out of the paint? Bonner?:lol

Really, Indiana was the worst possible matchup for the heat and still lost.
I feel that this finals will resemble the one from last year where everybody was saying how strong the western conference is and in reality it was just some no defense teams.

The west hasn't been the same since our beloved 2010 lakers :(

Blame Shannon Brown for fucking Pau's girlfriend. Your fortunes came and went with his give-a-fuck, regardless how your brood likes to pretend it's about the uninspiring non-factor on crutches. Pau inspired the Lakers and he brought wins. He also brought Laker fan to this forum in droves, including you, who registered post Pau and post 2010 Finals but before the shit pushing of 2011.

Spurs are a great team but don't see a 37 yr old Duncan carrying them through a much younger faster team, that has the best player in the world. LeBron wants revenge and to secure his legacy.
