That's a pretty dead forum but it's also really weird. They have some retarded threads going and then they lock threads like this one...

Weird that they locked that thread. It was well-written and thought out. I can only think that the moderator didn't like the premise. i.e that other players may be more effective surrounding LeBron than Wade and Bosh. Heat fans can agree or disagree but there was nothing offensive in that guy's post and he articulates his argument well.

That mod is just a dumbfuck tbh. I looked through his posts real quick and he locked another topic that was legit

Don't know how people like that are allowed to run an nba.com message board.

The Miami HEAT look to even the series against the San Antonio Spurs tonight at the AT&T Center. The Spurs defeated the HEAT 113-77 in Game 3 on Tuesday night to take a 2-1 series lead. Tip off is set for 9 PM.

1: Did the Spurs do anything differently to hold the HEAT to 77 points in Game 3?

Couper Moorhead: It didn’t seem like it at the time, and the next day at practice a number of players reiterated that the Spurs scheme was more or less the same as it was in the prior two games. The reason their coverage may have looked different is that the HEAT in general – and LeBron James, since he’s the man the defense is keying in on – didn’t make as quick of decisions as they had been making and the ball wasn’t moving side-to-side as well as it was before. Miami was establishing the strong-side of the floor and then operating its offense only on that side on many of its possessions, putting little pressure on the Spurs to manage more than one target at a time. We saw similar issues against slightly different defenses in Indiana and Chicago, but the HEAT tend to find a way to get back on the path to efficiency.

Danny Martinez: Not really. Things looked about the same to me. The HEAT missed a number of open looks early on, especially from the midrange, and once a hole was dug the HEAT seemed to eschew the best possible shot for the first one available. When the HEAT offense is humming it’s based on ball and player movement; shooters spacing the floor, cutters cutting and LeBron James and Dwyane Wade orchestrating. That wasn’t the case in Game 3, especially in the second half. The HEAT had a number of uncharacteristic mistakes and turnovers, but perhaps no team self-corrects better than they do, so look for some of those issues to fade away in Game 4.

2: Where did all those San Antonio threes come from?

Couper: Some of those Danny Green and Gary Neal threes were a little flukey, the result of simple variance on dribble or deep jumpers, but for the most part those threes only served to extend what had already become a sizeable lead for the Spurs. The HEAT have been giving up open threes for much of this series and it didn’t truly come back to bite them until this most recent blowout. While the Spurs are going to find shots because their ball movement is simply that good, the HEAT have been making mistakes like losing cutters – that eventually spot-up – along the baseline or helping off the perimeter when they aren’t the player in position to help. It’s relatively clear what they need to clean up, it’s just a matter of doing it. And, we should mention, doing it with far, far more energy on the defensive end than the team showed up with in Game 3.

Danny: The Spurs run an offensive system that hunts efficient shots, just the like HEAT. Three-pointers, especially the catch and shoot variety, are especially efficient. The Spurs had a boat load of those in Game 3, good, clean looks that came from their normal offense. But they also made a lot of threes in weird situations that don’t usually happen. Offensive rebounds produced a number of scrambled possessions for the HEAT defense and the Spurs were able to capitalize by hitting threes. Others, as Couper mentioned, were long and off the dribble. Not much a defense can do about those. To avoid the same fate in Game 4 the HEAT will need to stick on San Antonio shooters as they make their long, winding journeys into the corners. Playing with more energy and communication will help. As will regression.

3: What could or should carry over from Game 3 to Game 4?

Couper: We always want to react to the latest display of dominance, but it wouldn’t be that surprising if Game 4 was a completely different game from the one that came before it. The HEAT’s offense looked poor, but they still missed a good number of open and readily available jumpers. The HEAT turned the ball over a ton, we’ve seen from the Spurs in this very series that turnovers in one game don’t predict turnovers in the next. It would be shocking if the HEAT didn’t play harder on defense and refocus themselves on the boards, as well. The Spurs put forth quite an incredible display, but the chances of it happening two games in a row, against a team that historically responds very well after losses, are slim. We probably have a long series ahead of us, yet.

Danny: I’m hesitant to play this game because there is no rhyme or reason in a single game. Game 4 is independent of Game 3, so as rare as that shooting display from San Antonio may have been, it could happen again tonight. It’s not likely, but it’s not impossible. Also, the Spurs never grabbed more than 14 offensive rebounds in the regular season but have now grabbed 15 and 19 in back-to-back games. Some of that is effort based, but some of it is also just sheer rebounding luck, a random bounce at the right time. For the HEAT, it’s unlikely that they shoot that poorly from the midrange again. While it’s not the preferred shot, the HEAT had a number of open jumpers from the area and just couldn’t hit. The turnover issue also popped up for Miami, giving the Spurs easy points on the other end, which is never a good idea. During the regular season the HEAT finished with the highest effective field goal percentage of all time (gives proper weight to three-pointers), so you’d expect the shooting to come around. Also, any time the rebounding or turnover issues popped up, they were corrected swiftly, you don’t have to look farther than the Indiana series for proof of that. All of this makes it difficult to know what to expect tonight. Season long trends suggest it will be nothing like Game 3, but for all we know, we’re set up for a repeat performance.

Their analysis is beyond poor as it's all generalized (ESPN "First Take" style/Eww). Makes me appreciate Timvp's complex and thorough breakdowns that much more...

If we can get more lucky rebounds! Lol

Haslem is HOF, and should have been All NBA 1st team, not Duncan.
