A lot of reasons for the win but Tony Parker just authored the smartest basketball game I've ever seen. The Heat built their offense to confuse him and fluster him. He used genius level basketball IQ to know when to push it, when to trust his teammates and how to counteract whatever the Heat did.

This was a great win, anchored by defense. The Heat missed the shots they were supposed to miss (no bullshit 3's by Bosh). With the Heat's penchant for playing mediocre in game 1's, this was the perfect game to steal in Miami. Fucking Tony Parker giving me a heart attack when he tripped on that last play.

Love the halftime adjustment by Pop to slow the game down and make the Heat defense rotate more. Run sets and stop running the break so much. I even saw Tony skip passes for layups a couple times just to slow the game down. Fast games with frenetic defensive energy are what the Heat thrive on. Slow down games focused on precision execution are what they will struggle with against our defense. Especially when we finally start to GUARD THE SHOOTERS

Typical opponents game vs Pop who kills Leflops scoring and want everybody else to beat us. It almost happened as Allen was hitting huge. Bosh with gr8 plays and also Andersen with follows.

It's fine to mention it. But personally, I'm filing it in the same file as "Spurs have never lost an NBA Finals." The Heat are still incredibly dangerous even down a game, but we already knew that, right? And some streaks will continue while others end.

We just have to worry about not relaxing our intensity for Game 2, along with looking for new wrinkles we can add to the schemes to try to keep Miami a step behind in making adjustments. If we can keep the effort level high for the balance, I like our chances.

The Spurs only shot 41.7% tonight. To go out and win this game on the road on a night they weren't hitting the three (7-23, 30.4%) is enormous. I still think the Spurs are going to have start really hitting the three to win this series, but to get one on a night when their shot was way off is just beyond huge.

Great, great game. So happy for the W. But it is still just one game. You know Miami is going to come out with a vengeance next game. Lebron will prob post up and go ham, imposing his will. But, we needed to split to have a chance, and that's what we did. Incredible considering how poorly we shot the ball. Hopefully some of those start falling, esp for Kawhi. He played solid D though. Neal and Bonner playing so much threw me off. Neal hit a couple big buckets though.

this. i laugh how some people were saying Indiana had this great advantage with Hibbert and we don't. Just typical lazy journalism, Hibbert still has a long way to go to be on Timmy's level.

also, it's already been mentioned but Kawhi was huge despite not shooting particularly well. If he had a couple of his 3s connect, holy shit, because he was doing what Kawhi typically does, comes up with huge rebounds and steals at key moments.

The Spurs only shot 41.7% tonight. To go out and win this game on the road on a night they weren't hitting the three (7-23, 30.4%) is enormous. I still think the Spurs are going to have start really hitting the three to win this series, but to get one on a night when their shot was way off is just beyond huge.

and get out rebounded by Miami.

We won thanks to T/Os limitation and efficiency at the line. I don't believe we will continue to keep T/Os this low, so obviously Spurs need to shoot better the ball but also put more effort on the rebounding side.

4th time Heat have lost a Game 1 in the Bosh/James/Wade Era. Heat went on to sweep the next 4 games in each of the previous 3 instances

:depressed

2011 Conf Finals vs. Bulls - Miami lost game 1 on the road. All the Bulls did was hold serve.

2012 NBA Finals vs. Thunder - Again, game 1 was a Miami road loss.

2013 Conf Semis vs. Bulls - No Rose, no Hinrich, no Deng. Good effort from the Bulls, but unsustainable given their injury situation.

Now that 0.1 happened, perhaps we Spurs fans can finally let go of 0.4.

We got our justice.

No. That shot shouldn't have counted. This one should have, and did. Not the same thing at all. Never forget, never forgive.

After Parker hustled into the winning locker room, his teammate, Gary Neal, told him: "I'm glad you clipped your nails today."

The Spurs have NEVER LOST an NBA Finals. :hat

Irrelevant stat (the one you quoted about them sweeping). OKC in the Finals had no experience and the rest were shit Eastern Conference teams.

Definitely a different scenario- although I hope the Spurs see this and remember last years Western Conference finals

You can definitely toss out that last one
The first was impressive- but you are talking about a one trick pony team offensively
The OKC bit was impressive. Although I always felt OKC collapsed more than the Heat beat them- (probably not true)
