:cry

WHO CARES?! We won man, celebrate tonight, we have 3 more to "steal".

Keepin' it real
06-07-2013, 12:40 AM
Geez, that's the most common way to refer to winning a playoff game on the road. Chill.

Why the fuck do you guys care about who says what and what and post it all the damn time? Who gives a damn we won. Enjoy it.

I told my friend that the headlines would say exactly that and yes it is wrong. If we had taken our first lead since the 4th with under a minute then maybe I could see it, but we led by as many as 7 down the stretch.

It was a steal... road game win. That's what it's called. Chill.

Spears was the only one at Yahoo to pick the Spurs to win the title, tbh...

Come one guys... This term has been used forever when a team wins a road game in the playoffs/finals

Calm down.

SpurPadre
06-07-2013, 12:46 AM
Yeah, no problem with him writing that. The real offense is Magic making excuses for the Heat by saying they are tired from the Pacers series. Uh, Magic, it takes 4 rounds to win it all. At this point, everyone in the finals is tired but should throw that excuse out the window.

moronic reaction to a term used a long time for road wins

Well, the Spurs did have more steals.

Spurs trailed most of the game.

We were losing 90% of the game, and won on the road.

If that isn't a steal what is?

it's a dumb thing to get mad about. We did steal the game. The only areas where the Spurs played well were in second half defense and in taking care of the ball, and they executed their offense well enough to get good shots for the most part, but they shot so poorly, and rebounded so poorly, that it's tough to say they deserved the win. I think the Spurs played a "B-" game for them, honestly and they've got a couple more gears they can get to. I actually think the Heat played a lot closer to their peak. The only things they didn't do well is force turnovers on defense, which is their bread and butter.

The 2012 Heat win that game easily. They're way better than this Miami team. Wade and Bosh were better last year.

People always say you steal a game when you win a close one on the road in the playoffs.

would't call it a steal. A steal is if the home team controlled the entire game and Spurs snuck up on them

Spurs controlled most of the game, just shots were'nt falling. Spurs were like a train, eventually they were going to arrive. Not a steal

Remeber Spurs were the underdog playing on road.

Spurs stole a game from their homecourt and now they have a big advantage even if they lose the next game as the game 3-5 will be at the Spurs homecourt.

Miami outplayed the Spurs for a majority of the game, had more rebounds and more FBPs yes it was a steal, and it was beautiful.

That's generally what they call it when the road team wins....

I'm kinda on the fence about it. I don't think they stole the game unless you thought they would have lost due to all the rust, in which case I agree with you.

They were never down by very much and while they didn't lead since the first quarter, it was almost always a 2 possession game. The Spurs pretty much played possum and traded baskets then kicked them in the teeth in the last 5 minutes before the Heat figured out how to counter it.

That said, it doesn't really offend me or anything that he thinks they stole it. Technically they were down for most of the game even though it wasn't by very much at all. Some people also operate with the thinking that any game you win on the road (especially a game 1, or by just a few points) is considered "stealing" the game. I wouldn't read too much into it, I don't think he meant it too offensively.

yeah that's what it's called.

:lol gnsf

spurs also didn't have a lead since early in the first quarter.

What a plastic thread!

"Steal" is the best word to describle a road win especially majority of people thought you were going to lose in the very beginning

Oh, Gee!!
06-07-2013, 06:27 AM
Yay we won. now let me search the internet to find articles that offend my spurs homerism sensibilities. just enjoy the win.

It was a steal, because teams with home court are expected to win at home. Would have been a steal if it were a blowout, tbh.

Not sure how it can be a steal when the Spurs controlled the 4th

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Possession_is_nine-tenths_of_the_law

Possession is nine-tenths of the law is an expression meaning that ownership is easier to maintain if one has possession of something, or difficult to enforce if one does not. The expression is also stated as "possession is nine points of the law", which is credited as derived from the Scottish expression "possession is eleven points in the law, and they say there are but twelve".[1]
Although this isn't actually correct, this principle can be restated as: "in a property dispute (whether real or personal), in the absence of clear and compelling testimony or documentation to the contrary, the person in actual possession of the property is presumed to be the rightful owner. The rightful owner shall have their possession returned to them; if taken or used. The shirt or blouse you are currently wearing is presumed to be yours, unless someone can prove that it is not".[2]
