View Full Version : Sir Charles predicts Heat won't make it out of SA

Make sure the latest Heat trend doesn't happen to us (not letting them win right after a loss). Get Game 2 and put doubt/fear in them coming to SA for 3 straight. Play like this Game 2 is a must win. Period.

Personally, I've got too much respect for Miami to agree with Chuck, but I'll be happy to be wrong about his prediction.

I'm geeked to see the Spurs attempt to "steal" Game 2. If that were to happen, it would send shockwaves not only through the Miami lockeroom, but through all of South beach.

i doubt spurs steal a second one....

There are only two ways the Spurs can win it all. They either have to win three games in a row at home, or they will have to "steal" another one on the road. To me, the two most likely outcomes are that they are either able to steamroll the Heat for the sweep, or they have to win Game 7 in Miami. Because if the Spurs can't win Game 2, it's not likely that they will win 3 in a row, even at home. And if they win 2 of the 3 at home, Game 6 will be the first elimination game on the road, which is a bitch to win.

The team that wins Game 1 goes on to win the Championship 78% of the time. The Heat know that as well as anyone, and they will be all-out in Game 2.

TampaDude
06-07-2013, 11:49 AM

That's likely true. The "Twin Towers" Spurs had an absolutely suffocating defense. They would probably sweep this Heat team.

game 2 will decide that..

Old School 44
06-07-2013, 11:54 AM
If the Spurs win game 2, I can see the divide between Miami's Big 3 getting larger. There already seems to be hints of this through comments by LeBron and Wade that were made in their prior series. If the Spurs sweep, Miami's Big 3 are done. I can see LeBron taking "his talents" else where.

TE

Most def. Even tho we have three straight games in SA, I don't see us beating this Heat team three straight games. It won't happen imho.

I really didn't like how he never ate crow after saying we were going to lose to Memphis.

I kept waiting on the TNT pre-game and post-game shows to admit that he was dead wrong and he never did. In fact, he pretty much ignored our series entirely.

And him picking us over the Heat does not surprise me. He always picks against the Heat. Unfortunately, he's always wrong too.

that second clip posted above is hilarious, Chuck dropping lots of truth bombs as usual and even admits he's come to agree with Shaq on Howard not being a leader.

I predicted early on that this series will go to 7, I don't give a shit where it ends as long as Spurs can walk away victoriously. Game 2 will be a bloodbath though, because Spurs are just starting to get into a good rhythm and Heat will play desperate. I agree with teh comment above that the Heat will come apart quicker than us if shit hits the fan, because their team a)has more pressure and b)they don't have the years of chemistry we have.

Horry Hipcheck
06-07-2013, 05:54 PM
I fully expect the Spurs to lose Game 2. It just seems highly unlikely that the Heat don't respond. For me, the key is keeping the game close and not letting the Heat run away with it heading to SA. Both squads can improve, and I believe they will. My original prediction for the series was L-W-W-L-W-W for the Spurs, and now I don't view a W-L-W-L-W-W outcome as unreasonable. Sets up an epic Game 5 in San Antonio and gives the Spurs the clincher before a do-or-die Game 7.

T Park
06-07-2013, 05:57 PM
Barkley is exactly right. It's been said by many bloggers on twitter too who were shouted down for daring to say such things. Miami is a flawed ball club. To win they rely a bit on the other team being dumb. They lose when they face smart teams. IE dallas in 2011. The problem is, wade is not only hurt, but he wasnt playing that fantastically healthy. I guarantee one adjustment will be is to make Wade a jump shooter.

ok, i believe in my spurs, i really do. but i've seen this movie before. heat play around for a couple games then turn it on. i still think san an will win in 5 or 6 but don't count them out just at the snap of the fingers. if any team in history could come back from a 3-0 hole, this heat team is most likely.

i don't understand why they screw around so long. they could do like the 2000-02 lakers do and just take care of business early and have an easy ending to the series.

like i said above, i still have a lot of confidence in san antonio, but i just think it should be kept in perspective. miami won't go down that easily.

The Heat can be great when healthy and motivated, but I don't know if they will be able to beat this Spurs team. Spurs played mediocre honestly. I'd be worried if the Spurs played a great game and barely won game 1. Heat can play better, but Spurs best is better than Miami's best.

Kidd K
06-07-2013, 07:28 PM
Yeah, Chuck forgot to wait and see if the Heat lost game 2 first.

Like the poster above me just said, IF the Heat also lose game 2, then it is not going back to Miami. Spurs will likely win 2/3 in SA. Miami badly needs game 2 then they're going to have to take one at SA then hope to win two straight on the Spurs in the last 2. That's the only way they can take it. At reasonably worst I see the series being 3-2 Spurs going into game 6 as it stands now unless shady reffing or Super LeBron shows up.

I've been a fan of Chuck for a while on TNT and while of course he doesn't get em all right, he's gotten a few of his predictions right. Here are just a few that I can remember that involved us:

2003: He picked the Spurs to win it all.

2005: He picked the Spurs to win it all.

2008: He picked the Lakers to beat us.

2011: He picked Memphis to beat the Spurs.

2011: He said Dallas was better than the Spurs and picked Dallas to take the finals over the Heat.

Again, those are just a few of the predictions that I can remember from him about the Spurs and the Dallas-Heat finals.

For all the people that complain about the 2-3-2 format, the finals is probably the round where home court matters the least. At this level everyone is capable of winning a road game. The only time home court really matters is in game 7 if the series gets to a game 7.
