We are in a great position, home court advantage in The Finals with 1 ROAD win under our belt. We showed rust in Game 1 and still won. IT is amazing now to see highlights from the season, the Blake Griffin dunks, the Jamal Crawford crossovers, the Javale McGee midairblocks while he talks on his cellphone, Durant's 3's from the next block...and they're all on vacation right now. We are the last team standing, with home court advantage in The Finals and 1 win under our belt. Gotta like it. :lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt:

Spurs have a once in a lifetime chance to shove the NBA's marketing plan up David Stern's ass. I'm trying to regulate my excitement/expectations at this point...but it's hard to reign in the happy mental images.
I can just see the pinched expression on Stern's face as he hands over the trophy.
Perchance to dream.

Take it a step further. If the Spurs win in 5, it destroys LeBron's legacy, destroys the Heat's image, kills the legacy Stern leaves, and makes Duncan look like Thor's bigger, even more badass older brother for cock blocking so many elite teams from titles enroute to his own throughout his career.

NBA is forced to market the Spurs from then on until Duncan retires.

:lmao Actually, just the opposite is true. It is a must win for the Heat. If they go down 2-0 heading back to SA their flight back will be to go :fishing.

Agree with everything, but not sure about the last line. I really feel if Spurs win this, that it will be the same. All next year it won't be about the Champs (If it's Spurs), it will still be all Kobe, Lebron, OKC, and everyone else. They won't want to give us a chance of repeating. They will see it as this year is our last shot and thank God for that, at least in their view. Hope I'm wrong.

By a "fatigued" team? I mean really? I can't understand how the hell the Spurs can blowout a Memphis team after having to chase Curry, Thompson, Jack, Barnes all over the court with the same amount of layoff between games as the Heat had before Game 1. Superstars making excuses don't bode well for the Heat.

Game 2 is huge. If Spurs win, Miami is in a big hole. Heat wins, everyone calls game 1 a fluke and Heat ready to steal a game at the AT and T center.

Gaining a 2-0 lead on the Heat's home court, with 3 consecutive home games in San Antonio is like going up 3-0 in a series. Not only have you proven you can beat your opponent in their house, you have 3 chances to win 2 games in front of your own fans. The Spurs would most likely finish them off in 4.

All that being said, I expect the Spurs to shoot better in Game 2 and play a better overall game than game 1. Rust is gone, silly mistakes won't be made again and confidence is high. They'll need it because the Heat know its a must win game for them. We aren't far from watching the Heat experience a melt-down. I think we are going to see a lot of finger pointing coming from Lebron James and its not going to sit well with the other 2.

The role players / bench take their cues from the Big 3 of Miami and they are going to look clueless and be afraid to take shots. Just saying..

GSG!!!

I just don't see any way Miami loses game 2. They bounce back better than any team in the past 15 years. 10-0 after losses since January. Haven't lost back to back games since then. Theyre too good a team not to imo. I just don't see it happening unfortunately.

Apples to oranges, completely opposing situations. Drawing comparisons to a different team, with HCA, in a different series format sounds purposely obtuse.

The Spurs win tomorrow, the series is over.

Not at all. The trademark of the Spurs is our core performers and continuity.
Last year's debacle may not be a predictor but it is not entirely out of the picture. Especially in the wider context of the Spurs recent tendency for playoff meltdowns.
Confident yet cautious.

How amazing would it be to head back to San Antonio up 2-0?

How deflating for Lord Stern?

It is, of course, very possible. But I don't think it's likely. Spurs could still take this thing in 5 though without too terribly much fanfare...

If the Heat will lose game 2, it will be like a catastrophe.
So Miami will do everything they can not to lose this one.

Let us hope Joey Crawford will give is fair officiating. Miami was not happy with him during the Pacers series.
Lot of controversies and he had previous issue with TD(but I think it's buried now).

And maybe they can do it, if the Spurs are not ready, they cannot keep on missing shots like they did in the 1st half of game 1. Ewww :(

Remember Durant almost made it, won 2, then lost the next 4.

Only Spurs advantage - homecourt games 3-4-5

Technically, youre right of course. No way this tired, possibly ailing Heat teams pulls 4 out of 5 with the first three in SA though.

Anyone wants to bet against the Spurs winning it all should they pull out Game 2, I will gladly take the free money.

The mental and physical differences between being up 2-0 and going on the road, and being up 2-0 and coming home for three games are many and varied.. it is like night and day tbh. The situations arent even comparable.

And this is the Finals. Motivation is at its highest for the players and fans alike. Part of the reason I lol at this 'Miami still coasting' talk.

You're expecting way to much for this series if you expect the Spurs to win both opening games on the road in Miami. Not saying it won't happen, but the Spurs stole HCA, something the Heat worked all season for taken in 1 game. It can be taken back, and I expect HCA means little at this level anyhow unless it's a Lakers/Celtics matchup.

This. People are getting too confident after Game 1. I fully expect Miami to win game 2, and wouldn't be surprised if it was a 10+ point victory. (I'd actually prefer this than a 1 or 2 point loss). Spurs can play better than Game 1, but so can Miami. Lebron and Wade have already said Game 2 is a must win game for them. They're going to come out extremely aggressive and take care of business imo. Series will go back to SA 1-1. Then it's up to the Spurs to take care of business at home.

This is the Spurs we're talking about, don't talk like they need to be in the Finals to be motivated or they lost against OKC because they weren't motivated enough. It has nothing to do with that. And the fact is this Miami Heat team is vastly superior to the Thunder team that backdoor swept us last season. I believe we will win this series, but to say it's over at 2-0 is laughable and plain stupid given recent history.

Plain stupid is betting against 100% odds. No Finals team has ever lost the first two games at home and come back to win the series.

In fact, only three teams in NBA Finals history have ever lost the first two on the road and come back to win.

This. Spurs have a 5% chance of winning Game 2. This is Miami's Game 7. They know going down 0-2 would end the series essentially.

I just hope Spurs don't get blown out and give Miami as little momentum as possible going into Game 3.

if that's the case, how are we supposed to win the Finals?

Austin_Toros

If winning game one was unlikely for the Spurs, winning game two will be very unlikely. Miami has shown that after dropping game one it comes out firing in game two (especially now considering Miami will be in a huge whole if it loses). Even if game two turns ugly, it's not the end of the word because the Spurs will do what they need to and win at least one of the first two away games.

What would the media say? It was funny how soooooo many of the experts that picked the Grizz to beat the Spurs kept making excuses, "it is just one game, oh it is just two games the playoffs don't start till someone loses at home, or remember what the Thunder did to the Spurs last year" until it was 3-0 then they turned on the Grizz like a pack of wolves. If/when the Spurs when game 2, with 3 games in SA, what would they say then? How would they spin it? Or would they just start their break up the Heat talk? Because we all know that it won't be praising the Spurs to be as wrestler CM Punk would say, "The Best in the World!" I would then love to see some media types eat some humble pie, in no particular order Israel G of ESPN, who has been hating on the Spurs for a few years now, Cowherd whose attitude on the Spurs might have something to do with Michelle Beadle's die hard Spurs fan status and finally that Bill Simmons because he is always picking against the Spurs and acting like they would have lost if the opposing team did something obvious and easy.

Only two teams in NBA Finals history have won the first two games on the road. Two. Out of 60+ Finals. Two.

Just for how rare and unlikely it would be, a Spurs victory tomorrow would be at least a 9.0 on the Richter scale.

What I will say is, I believe the Heat is a great team and a dangerous opponent. It will be very difficult to win game 2, but truth is I think the Spurs CAN do it.
