If they win this year, I think they are. Everyone's always going to have an opinion about us, especially during the Finals.

Their reasoning is highly contradictive... If applied to their beloved teams somehow their own criteria doesn't apply... Fools.

Of course, the media is always moving the proverbial carrot this much farther >< in order to discount the Spurs' success. I also like how they didn't have someone to counterpoint their ridiculous argument.

Kinda off topic, but I saw a meme on facebook.. It was TD looking up at the four banners hanging at the AT&T center, And it aid "What is a king to a GOD". Thought it was pretty cool.

Why does this topic keep resurfacing? It's like saying "That's not a mountain, it's really big hill". I don't care what anyone calls the Spurs. There are no real dynasties anyhow, not since the ancient Chinese ones. It's all pseudo-journalism mumbo jumbo designed to put teams in large market cities on pedestals through creative wording and marginalization of other forms of real success.

If you have to ask "are we a dynasty?" you really aren't getting much from the series.

Besides, like most other BSPN articles that seem to be about the Spurs, this is just a way to mention the Spurs as an intro to an extended discussion about the Heat or the Lakers. It's never about the Spurs.

This was the classic moving the goal posts move when the Spurs didn't repeat in the mid '00s. A way for chowderheads to denigrate a team that was doing extremely well. Who cares? Were the Paul Pierce Celtics or '04 Pistons or Nowitzki Mavs dynasties when they won their championships? No, but who the fuck cares? They each won championships.

Anyone remember that dude that was on the ticket (not local) back in the day that hated SA and went out of his way to discredit everything they did. He dogged then for years before they won in 99. Then he said it was lock out. Then he said they didn't go back to back. He once said Tim Duncan didn't deserve MVP because he couldn't shoot free throws, but he was a Shaq lover.

Peter something?

'fraid so...not being able to handle the stressors of being a champion is pretty telling. All the other dynasties managed it (50's Lakers, 60's Celtics, 80's Lakers, 90's Bulls, 00's Lakers). They just never had the heart to defend their crown.

This is the classic, "They're good, but....!"

I could honestly give two shits! If we pull this one off, not only will we get the satisfaction of being a champion once again, but the vindication of "Pounding the Rock" and doing things the, "Spurs Way", will be complete. Dynasties live and die, but the Spurs are forever! Lol! :toast

No one ever doubted, debated or even sneezed at the 80's Celtics being called a dynasty yet now the Spurs, who are more successful than them are being questioned as a dynasty? gtfo, the media is just trolling the Spurs at this point...

The Spurs could win the next 10 titles and the media would still add a "yeah but"...

Wow to think they work for a major sports network. 1. Lakers played weak east teams too. 2. We beat the lakers twice in thier dynasty era and in 2000 Duncan was hurt. 3. The Lakers dynasty got beat by the Pistons. 4. We beat those Pistons.

I'm not sure how you define a "dynasty" anyway.

I always remember this "NBA at 50 CD-Rom" (yes, in the 90s noone used "@" and there were no DVD's) and on that even the 94/95 Rockets were in the dynasty area.

For me the Spurs are one because there are at this level for such a long time, while winning several ships(even if they dont get #5). In my book thats better than back to backs in only something like 6-8 years of high level compention.
Some even start calling the Heat a dynasty, but compared to the Spurs thats like comparing Bin Laden to the Boston bombers (while I give the Celtics Hitler, the Bulls Stalin and the Lakers Berlusconi^^).

Wait, what have I done here...:wow

Sorry!

Spurs have already transcended beyond typical dynasty status. 14 years is 14 years. If they win a fifth it will only cement them further as the 4th best NBA club of all time. They are easily the best organization in sports over that time period as well.

"What's a mob to a king? What's a king to a god? What's a god to a non believer, who don't believe in anything?"

Well, believer or not, God does exist. I mean, TD IS god. In basketball, anyway.

Truthfully, having won 50+ games for 14 seasons i.e. truly extended excellence, while other teams, even great teams, rise and fall, is more dynastic than any of our contemporaries.

Israel and Bomanni have the worst takes on Around the Horn imo.

J.A. is okay sometimes, but he often will start with a kind of shitty take then never changes it no matter what new evidence is introduced. Then his take just gets worse and worse as he makes excuses for way all the new facts somehow don't count.

I'm perfectly fine with "dynasty" being used for teams that manage back to back 'ships. Like Marcus Bryant said, I'll take the rings, titles, etc no matter what they are called.

Gutierrez is a ****, and Adande is a twat. Always have been. They aren't analysts, they are fan boys.

I take satisfaction in knowing the Spurs winning and being in the Finals give them a flaming case of yeast infection to the point where they spew nonsense.
