Ice009
06-09-2013, 09:35 PM
Splitter is so soft with his moves, that when he tries to be aggressive, he still gets his shit packed horribly.

He doesn't look slow, but somehow his moves seem slow. They seem like invitations to come block his ass by anyone. Doesn't matter if you are a guard, forward or center. It seems Splitter somehow gives off an invitation to get his shots blocked by anyone.

I don't think he is slow overall, but I think he is just slow enough with his moves and decisiveness that it makes it easy for defenders to make him look stupid. I also wonder if his lack of vertical has anything to do with it? Can you improve you vertical much when you are at this age and level of basketball?

$pursDynasty
06-09-2013, 09:49 PM
there are some that praise Tiago and talk about him getting a big payday, but when has he ever been anything better than complimentary? The Birdman for all the hype was at hope pumping gas this season working on two 10 day contracts and Splitter can't dominate him? Yet we want to give Splitter big money and lock him up long term? Splitter is the closest thing to a good compliment to Tim on the roster but he is at least right now Umberto at best. He can pass has that soft Euro game but can't shoot it like Dirk. So yea I want him but I wouldn't go in a bidding war for him.

Sleepy_Floyd

feel bad for the dude but it was tiago fuckin splitter lol

and the game was already out of hand whatever

atleast he went for it. he needs to go up stronger with two hands. u shouldnt get blocked like that being how tall and big he is. or he needs to go big with his left hand and shield the blocked with his other arm like every other fuckin big time dunker does

dg7md
06-09-2013, 09:51 PM
Funny how that worked out. Had Tiago dunked on LeBron successfully, LeBron's entire career would have an asterisk on it. :lol

Good block of course, but Splitter at least tried to dunk it. Had it been another player, Splitter would have had a successful dunk.

One play on a guy who has been humbled before. Even with a running start he can't get up much. They were not that high, the timing was impressive though.

It really won't. He's not the little baby you've got playing center. Splitter's gotten his shit destroyed like this in the past and he's been fine. Mentally he's gone through a whole lot worse in his life and still been successful (read his wiki), he's not mentally weak.

This has probably already been said but Splitter was already losing the ball on his way up...he would have either lost it over the rim or have been stuffed by the front of the rim...either way, it wasn't going to be a dunk.

And the game was already over. Splitter knows he was soft and so he was trying to make up for it. Frankly he avoided the embarrassment of being stuffed by the rim instead of by Lebron.

Skip Bayless seemed to be the only one to notice this. He had a tweet that read something like "Why's everybody making such a big deal on the Lebron block? Game was over and Splitter was losing it on the way up."

But still. It's embarrassing for Splitter. He's the one who screwed up. But Lebron is going to get all the credit and Splitter can at least pretend to credit Lebron for making a 'great' play. Guess he can save face that way. He's so soft I wouldn't be surprised.

Am I the only one who thinks this block is overrated as hell? Not being a homer here either. Lebron's a 6'9" physical freak of nature and Splitter's a 6'11" softie who can barely jump over a phone book.... I mean seriously. It looked like he was going to get rim checked anyway. But ESPN will of course cream their panties over anything Lebron does.

It seems only fitting that the one time Splitter elects to "man up" and go strong to the hole, that he gets denied in such a spectacular way. Considering the fact that he came up so small in last year's OKC series, following the hack-a-Splitter strategy, I only wonder whether his confidence will be shaken after this embarrassing play?

Throw it down two hands the next time Tiago. Still, that was his shot to shut up everyone about not dunking, and he gets more attention for being blocked than if he threw it down over Lebron.

Couple of thoughts:

56 dunks in reg season and 3 in POs from Splitter (highlight reel), I can see why everyone is making a big deal about the LeBron block...

If he takes another dribble and goes for one of those underhand hook type shots, might have drawn the foul and/or made the basket, lol

I dunno what Venti is so wet about. Black guys are more athletic and can jump higher than white/foreign guys. We already knew this. Remember Nate Robinson blocking Yao Ming?

that was a foul. He bitch slapped Yao in the face.

This block doesn't bother me. Tiago getting 3 rebs in 2 games does

48 minutes in 2 games

3 Rebounds
11 points

Kawhi Leonard had 25 rebounds in two games at small forward.

Lebron had 18 in game 1. 6X more than Twilight has this series

Miami 29th in boarding...

those numbers are stunning to me.

RIP Tim Duncan, he was never the same after this. Whatever happened to him anyway?

That block happened in the same year the Spurs swept the Cavs. :lol

Did you all see Lebron posing for good 5 seconds while his teammates and the spurs including Tiago ran back up the court. In the real bball world outside of the ESPN hype machine that's what really stands out and is frowned upon. Like what's already mentioned, blocks happen all the time. I was damn impressed that Tiago took it strong and you all don't understand the game if you think this bothers him. If every white guy that plays and makes career out basketball lets a blocked shot bother them, there would be none playing at all. Since Tiago started with the spurs the only guy that probably effects him in any way is his coach because of all the mind games and favourtism to other players.

You want an amazing block , check Nate Robinson swat on Lebron series before.

The handful of Spurs fans pissing on their own doesn't surprise me. It's all to familiar to the way way DROB got treated. Pathetic. Their only concern is with the higlight reel and will be back to being laker fans when it's in vogue.

Finally an optimistic post. As I've said before I hope Tiago attacks the rim more and more frequently, hopefully with TWO hands on the ball.

Guys, lets not badger Capitan Tiago that much....

he has been playing well this season for us, and was important in our earlier series wins

what im wishing now is for Splitter to dunk on the Miami Heat so strong as to deliver a return statement....!!

Go Captain Tiago, go Spurs go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is one thing I noticed about Splitter............i wonder if anyone of you nnoticed this....

After the Memphis series, and the guys are congratulating each other....

Splitter approached Zach and gently played with his headband, i really liked that scene

it speaks volumes of the man, Splitter is a good person, and I dont know about James but

if i had a daughter and the two of them courted her, i would pick Splitter!

James??? just a small child who does not know anything about Life, the Cosmos and the Universe OUTSIDE OF BASKETBALL!

Period. end of story

James is a little child, afraid of the real world, who happens to be athletic....

Lebron James is so ignorant of Life, that he does not know anything about being a really good and spiritual person

It's one frrgn play.
I remember Ginobili's block on Durant above the rim.
People went on and on about it. It's such a little boy" I gotcha that time " NBA crap.
Tiago can't get up so the only surprise is that it was perfectly timed. And that it happened above the rim, which is unknown territory for Tiago.

This occurred at a lower altitude, so in Teenage NBA ratings its no biggie.

Tiago threw down a couple of pick-n-roll dunks tonight. He's slow as shit but he knows where to put himself. Bill_Brasky I was wrong. Yo nigga Splitta showed no side-effects.

Tiago threw down about three dunks tonight. All were two handed and he even backed off King James in one dunk. Tiago is a good match for Tim. He works like Fab did and does the things like passing ,setting screens ,pick and roll rebounds and scoring some points. If we get a Fab out of him that's all we need. He will get better every year. Sure he screws up at times but he has also played very good this year. He is a good fit for the Spurs and they will resign him this year. "Haters got to Hate"

And he barely made the two handed stuff. And he got stripped and blocked again (below rim so in the NBA world it does not make a video game random selection of possible scenarios).

But he set some great screens, got in the way and caused misses, and played a great POSITIONAL game which is so critical when one is deficient athletically. Being in the right spots at the right time makes up for lack of hops. Kevin Love, great hands with no hops. Unfortunately Tiago lacks the hand strength. And the shooting range.

We would not be in the finals without Tiago.
