Pop is legendary at calling quick timeouts to stop runs. Why no timeout before heat took a 5 pt lead to 15?

So unlike Pop. He would usually call a TO as soon as the thing went to 9.

Sometimes, things should just sort themselves out. he can't just spoon feed the Spurs players. He should let them experience an ass-whooping to see if they have the mental strength to do something about it. Obviously they did not.

When PJ did it it actually worked. There's a reason most coaches take that TO. PJ actually prepares his teams to be able to whether the storm.

most likely he was saving the timeouts if it was going down the wire at the end of the 4th. of course they got blown up and it was too late.

This. It was only a matter of time with the way the Big 3 were playing.

I don't think Pop realizes that he can call timeouts to stop the OTHER team's runs.

My opinion? His love of appropriate fear, and his knowledge that the Spurs weren't going to sweep the Heat anyways. As it began to appear that the Spurs just didn't have what it was going to take to win that game, did Pop just see it as an opportunity for reconnaissance? Get the information about the adjustments Miami made, and get out of South Beach with a 1-1 series? I can see how he'd think that an assbeating would ensure that the guys are open to learning how to adjust to Miami's adjustments...We'll see how that all plays out in game 3...

Pop didn't care. TO's weren't going to make Tony Parker and Tim Duncan grow a pair last night.

My theory: Pop knew we'd probably lose Game 2 anyway. But once Miami went up 10 on that runner plus one by Chalmers, he knew the game was over. So at that point does he try to keep us close, or let us get blown out? I think he let us get blown out so as to keep us hungry and focused for Games 3-5. Obviously Manu was out to lunch, Parker was not on his game, and Tim was playing soft and unaggressively. A blowout cures all because now they'll listen to Pop.
