View Full Version : Force Lebron to Score- Don't Always Double Team

Does anyone else think the Spurs should switch things up on this subject? I held this opinion even in game 1. Lebron had one of the easiest games tonight, he barely had to expend any energy. Miami's roster is laced with guys who can light it up just like Danny Green is capable of in any game. I'm much more happy making Lebron score points himself, wasting more energy on offense, and not passing to wide open Ray Allen and Mike Miller beyond the arc all game long. I think it's a stupid strategy to play defense like this for all game long, the whole series, because while no player is going to make every 3 it's only a matter of time before Allen and Miller make it rain. Lebron is an excellent passer with great vision and he's 6'8" and very athletic to begin with so he's never really in a position where doubling up causes him to throw a bad pass. If you double the guy, he will find someone wide open with a perfect pass.

Force him to do the work and as long as the Spurs don't turn it over they should be in the game.
