Rumored to be on the outs in Beantown. Still has plenty of game left. Contract isn't that attractive, but it is tempting to think about a quarto of TD, TP, Manu and Pierce together for the next 4 seasons. Perhaps the Spurs could get Danny Boy to do something stupid...

Yeah right, get Pierce without giving up Ginobili or Parker? Pipedream at best.

28 and the ultimate balla.

The Truf would have Ghost cream his shorts.

Never going to happen, but a team with Duncan, Manu, and Pierce would set an NBA record for free throw attempts.

Hey, Wilt was traded. So was Shaq. Jabbar too. Anything's possible in the NBA...

Maybe if we tell them Scola is "the next Larry Bird". The fish jump for that line all the time in Boston.

Take Extra Stout's recommendation...

Nazr
Barry
Scola's rights

for

Pierce

That should be pale enough for Beantown.

I think Dallas is one of the teams who have a chance of getting Pierce. They can give salary relief off of expiring contract in Van Horn, very deep, and have some young upcoming talent.

Van Horn Sucks.

I know that but he has a huge contract that expires next year. Boston would either want alot of young talent or salary relief to go after another big time player.

Because we all know Dallas needs another shooter/swingman on that team. [/sarcasm]

OMG, I would pay cash money to see Paul Pierce and Jerry Stackhouse playing on the same team, both trying to dribble the shot clock down on an iso with one ball between them.

Avery would quit and become a life insurance salesman or sumptin.

One thing is Stackhouse would be coming off the bench and Paul Pierce is much better than Stackhouse. I am not a big fan of Stackhouse's game so maybe trading him would be the best thing if we get Paul Pierce.

Paul Pierce is not coming to SA without us giving up TP or Manu...that being said, it ain't happenin.

If he somehow joined the Spurs without giving up any part of the big 3, then they would only lose 5 games this year.

Pierce is way better than Walker. That is laughable comparing those 2 players.
Walker is a joke. He has low IQ, plays no defense, and makes costly turnovers.

If the Spurs dealt for Pierce, would they also get a waiver to play with two basketballs on the offensive end?

Pierce is immensely talented, but with Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan already gobbling up most of the available shots, and with Pierce being a volume shooter, I don't see how adding Pierce would keep everyone happy over the long haul. Aggregating talent isn't a pathway to titles -- ask Mark Cuban.

Beno, Rasho, rights for Scola to Boston for Pierce works (Boston has 3 mil in cap room).

Sign Antonio with the MLE.

Marcus gets his wish. [/crackpipe]

Isn't Pierce a SG? So...that would mean Manu back on the bench wouldn't it?

He's 6'6", and as natural at SF as at SG. So presumably Bowen would go to the bench.

Marcus Bryant

Man, he'd cost a pretty penny, but think about a starting lineup of...

1 Parker
2 Ginobili
3 Pierce
4 Duncan
5 Nesterovic

You'd also have DBrown and Bowen backing up the swing spots.

Extra Stout

Again, Pierce is not the prototypical guy you'd want as a small forward on the Spurs. The ideal player is 6'9", with long arms and great lateral movement, and a defense-first mindset.

But it would just be funny as hell if the Spurs got Paul Pierce without giving up any one of the Big 3. General managers all over the Western Conference would have to go on suicide watch. Mitch Kupchak would just curl into a fetal position and cry himself to sleep. Bryan Colangelo would drink about a gallon of vodka and fall out of a twelfth-story window. Mark Cuban would run screaming out of his mansion and get hit by an SUV on the Dallas North Tollway.

Stephen A. Smith would quit his job and become a vacuum salesman.

Maybe then Holt Cat would dress up in a chicken suit and sit courtside?

I think defensively Pierce would be fine. Not outstanding, but he knows enough D to try to stay in front of his man and if beat, there will be a shotblocker or two backing him up.

Offensively, how would an opponent game plan the Spurs? About the only thing they could do is try to double off Nazr's man and if that posed a problem, the Spurs could bring in Horry.

Hmmm...

I highly doubt this trade would ever happen.......especially without us losing Parker and someone else. I'm sure Pierce is going to decide to stay in Boston. That's his team, he's the leader, and I doubt he's going to want to go somewhere to play the second or third fiddle.

Hmmm...I'd force Paul Pierce to shoot jumpers all day and count on his failure to get the Big 3 involved.

I'd much rather have Pierce taking 20 perimeter shots than letting Duncan eat me up inside, and have Manu and Parker rip my defense to shreds with penetration.

It would be not unlike Glen Rice on the 2000 Lakers. Could it work? Certainly. Is Pierce the best fit? No. Does the media understand enough about basketball not to crap its pants in fear? Of course not.

For the way the Spurs are built, I'd much rather try to finagle a deal for Danny Granger, or just trade Nazr for Battier straight up. Nevertheless it is fun to conjure up superstar trades.

Marcus Bryant

Pierce has a much better overall offensive game than Rice. Teams would pay for giving him some space to operate.
