Townsend: Spurs coach Gregg Popovich retains lifelong bond with trio of college teammates who reside in North Texas
“When he went to his Air Force spy school, he drove his Corvette and wore a $300 suit to his first assignment,” Kreimborg said. “He walked into the office, and they said, ‘You need to go to Sears to buy a suit, and you’d probably be better off driving a Corvair.’”
“He always had that ability to communicate with people and get the best of them,” said Air Force teammate Brown. “That’s why the Spurs do so well. I think we’re honored that we got a chance to play with him and know him.”
