View Full Version : Lebron: Do you think he would want to play for San Antonio

Lebron is considered the best player in the league right now but there seems to be some lofty expectations on him as a scorer. I don't believe scoring has ever been his strength or what made him great. It's his overall game. Kobe, Durant and Melo are much better scorers than he is.

When James becomes a free agent, it seems to me that he would be a perfect fit for the Spurs' system. Do you think he would want to come here and would you as a Spurs fan want him ?

Even if Lebron wanted to play for San Antonio, I don't think the people around him would ever allow that to happen.

No shit, I'd want him. I'm sure he would too, but the market-size would play too much of a factor in his decision.

is Larry Bird available, the Spurs could add him, lol

No fan in their right mind would say they wouldn't want LeBron on their team. So yeah, I'd love to have him.

Will he ever come here? Definitely no, especially if he loses to us again this year. He will probably hate SA forever.

No thank you. Hope that loser goes to the Bucks, tbh.

If he signed for a lot less than what he's making now...sure give him a shot. In other words, it's not happening.

I wouldn't mind him being on the Spurs. The biggest weakness to his game is mental. The Spurs are perfect for fixing that.

Dumb thread. No way he ever comes to SA.

If he had not already won a ring then I would say yes. Only when he is 38, looking 50 and doesn't have much left in the tank. A la Moses Malone, 'Nique, Willis, Finley, T Mac, etc. etc. etc.

Would love to have Lebron on the Spurs. Pick and Role with him and Parker would be unstoppable. He won't come to SA. If he did, he would have to live with the "if you can't beat them, join them" tag on his career.

Pairing himself with Kyrie Irving, Varejao, the City of Cleveland and an upcoming No. 1 draft pick is probably more alluring to him than anything the Spurs could offer.

That said, in the highly unlikely scenario that he would join the Spurs he would probably win at least 2 more championships with:

the best coach in the league in Gregg Popovich
elite point guard Tony Parker
sharpshooting Danny Green
rising star Kawhi Leonard
and Duncan manning the middle.

The bench would include:
an aging but still productive Manu
an efficient (even if somewhat flawed) Tiago Splitter
an ever-confidence gaining Cory Joseph

If Lebron leaves, he needs to look for an elite coach. Pop would actually be a perfect coach for him.

Funnily enough I actually don't mind Lebron. Obviously he is an incredible player, but he seems like a great team mate too. Things like the Decision sour my opinion of him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's constantly had bad advice.

He'll never come to San Antonio, although it would be a perfect fit for him to escape the glare of the media. He can't handle the pressure, but it's pressure all of his own making.

If LeBron ever plays for a legendary coach there really will be a 5peat.

If he actually came to the Spurs Chip Engelland would be the one that made LeBron invincible. Teach LeBron a consistent perfect jump shot that he could rely on in crunch time and he would be unstoppable.

He could win some championships here with Tony, Pop, the other young pups, and the system. But would he if he could...I don't see it. He'd rather have exposure, than increase his chances at winning. And tbh, that's his prerogative.

$tern wouldn't allow it. Oh wait I forgot, it will be Adam Silver who will be commissioner by the time Lebron becomes a free agent.

Pretty much what people have been saying. James desperately needs to find a good coach in a system that's already established and with teammates that already have experience with the team. It doesn't have to be the Spurs; Dallas would also be a good choice. I think he'd be better now if he had gone to the Mavs in 2010.

Kate Upton is considered the hottest woman in the world right now but there seems to be some lofty expectations on her as far as weight. I don't believe a skinny waist has ever been her strength or what made her great. It's her boobs. Marisa Miller and Adriana Lima have much more of that trim, fit look than she does.

When Upton moves on from her current boyfriend, it seems to me that she would be a perfect fit to marry me. Do you think she would want to come here and should I want her?

Basically the same premise.

LeBron under the Spurs' system = championships every year

He is a do-all player and wouldn't be asked to score 30 PPG and instead spread the floor and do everything.

But he won't come here. He'll go back to Cleveland or go to Los Angeles.

Lebron will never wear a Spurs jersey. If the Heat beat the Spurs, why would he leave the Heat? He's building his championship legacy with them. If the Spurs beat the Heat, then he would look ridiculous and take too much media scrutiny to join the team he couldn't beat.

I'm not sure if LeBron James would play for San Antonio. He'd be playing for a contender with the Spurs...and I'm sure that will factor into his thinking.

I could see Lebron doing this, the Spurs have the money to do it.

This would be his best option to win, this or Cleveland. Hed have to suck it up to live in San Antonio but I think Duncan would stay longer to if he came. The only issue would be what do we do with Kawhi, but thats it.

Neither Carmelo nor Kobe are better scorers than Lebron. Maybe they're bettar at HORSE, maybe they're even better at life, but not at basketball, where efficiency is paramount.

I am showing LeBron with another year in contract with the Heat. It is not until the seasons ending 2015 and 2016 that he has a player optiosn he could opt of for $20 and $22 million.

LeBron would be a fine fit with the Spurs and Pop in all aspects but financially, so no.

Knoxxx

I would trade Tony, Manu, and Kawhi for LeBron, tbh.

Questionable. Tony has a number of good years left. Kawhi is playing LeBron to a draw, 22 years old, and we have barely tapped his huge apparent upside on offense. Manu needs to retire a Spur and still appears to have at least a couple years left in him, unless you missed those dunks Tuesday night.

LeBron is pushing 30 with a lot of miles on him. Once he loses a little athleticism, you don't want to be the team throwing max dollars at him. Not sure given the paltry salary cap that Spurs can throw max dollars at anyone.

I could see Lebron doing this, the Spurs have the money to do it.
After Duncan and Ginobili retire, the Spurs should have the cap space. The priority should be to sign Leonard long-term, and also keep Green around for awhile. After that, I could see the Spurs attempt to bring in a star player.

Why not? He's the best player in the world...... Would be my answer if we didn't have Kawhi.

Maybe for Pop?
In addition to good coaching in general, I expect he'd like the fact that he wouldn't be playing 40 in both games of a back-to-back in the middle of January.
