Blows my mind that this guy doesn't seem to realize that almost every single government in north africa has already been swept away by such protests.
Turkey is a functioning democracy though, in contrast.

Blows my mind that you don't get the difference. This is not an Arab Spring protest. The guy in power is an elected Islamist that is trying to kill the democratic process and make it an Islamic police state. THATS what the people are protesting.

Turkey has been trying to become a EU member for decades. It makes sense that the EU would say something before we did.
