He'll be back before D-Rose tbh.

I seem to remember that he was coming over for some summer workouts but I'm not certain.

I like it that someone was lasering him on the ground. haha

Wow! I was JUST thinking about him a minute ago. Weird.

That sucks though. Now he'll never be a Spur.

At least he's young, time to recover!

How long will he be out with this injury?

Mugen
06-13-2013, 04:13 PM
Tough blow as this hurts his chances of coming over in a couple of years. Bertans was by far the most intriguing stash we had in Europe.

But an ACL tear isn't a death-knell nowadays unless you're a mentally weak gangbanger w/ poor social skills tbh.

Damn. I had completely forgotten about this guy then finally started reading up and watching vids of him again last night. I figured one more season overseas then he would be ready to come over but this may push things back a bit.

KL2
06-13-2013, 04:37 PM
Didn't want him anyways, he's crazy thin, while he could be good on offense I think his frame would keep him from becoming a good defender in the NBA, he almost looked anorexic.

Don't really care for this next season. He won't help us then anyway - have plenty of cap room to sign more useful pieces. Assuming our first rounder joins the team, Diaw/Mills opt-in, and Splitter/Ginobili cost about $13 million combined, we will have $3 million to play with if Bonner stays or $6 million to play with if Bonner is cut UNDER the cap for 12-13 players. Given Splitter is restricted, it's very hard for other teams to put in an offer sheet on him to tie up cap space for 72 hours (similar to Pekovic). I think more than likely, the Spurs will come to terms on a long-term deal with him.

Then there is the full mid-level exception. They can even trade to take on some salary instead of using the money in free agency (theoretically you could send Nando + first rounder to Dallas for their first + Vince Carter, saves them $2.4 million and Cuban can dream of signing Howard with that extra cash only to see it go to waste). Plenty of money to fill & even upgrade missing pieces vacated by Neal + Blair + Bonner (?) departing.

So on Bertrans, I don't see him contributing next year anyway, so let him heal and then find a place for him here when the rebuild actually begins in 2 years post-Duncan.

Dammit! The idea of bringin over some of our overseas guys made me feel better about the future and Bertans definitely was the most intriguing. As chump said, fix him over here

His body type is just strange, probably makes him injury prone. His legs are just too long for his body, like a stork or flamingo or the like. Bound to have issues.

Terrible news.

What's the deal with Livio Jean-Charles? How has he recovered from his torn ACL?

They have been drafting Americans in the 1st round. 2nd Round draft-and-stashs aren't really a big deal imo.

Fuck. We need some draft picks. We need to max Kawhi. We know the big names wont come. We also know we wont win a chip with the likes of paul milsap.

If Tim and Manu retire next year we should seriously consider tanking. Let Parker and Kawhi statpad. Bring over all our international players. Let em play and evaluate them (LOSE) and trade mills, Baynes, for a low first to a sucker team. I mean none of these other post TD plans i see people waiving around are wildly unrealistic. Why not this one.

Jean-Charles is actually getting better, he wasn't playing much at the beginning of the year, wasn't really the main source of offence of the team or anything like.

But his last four games have been quite good. More minutes, productive in terms of points and rebounds:

You can see his game stats there: http://www.lnb.fr/fr/Pro-A/200010/Stats-Joueurs/A45331/fiche?type=1&from=2014&stat=m

Agreed. After seeing Adrian Peterson come back from ACL surgery in 10 months and go on to damn near break the single season record, I never count anyone out.

Also, Willis McGahee coming back after his knee was absolutely shredded in that title game, to go on and have a meaningful career.

LJC is probably coming over next season. Bertans probably was as well. Wonder if it changes the Spurs stategy for the draft. Maybe they were more willing to draft an D&S player because they had 2 players with 1st round talent coming over along with Kyle Anderson in his second season.

Would like to see the Spurs draft a wing or a big, particularly Justin Anderson. Would give us a big wing rotation with Green (6'6), Leonard (6'6), Anderson (6'9) and Anderson (6'6) assuming both Green and Leonard return.

Not NO but Hell No..:) It might change what they are going to do this summer as LJC has sucked playing this year and now Bertans is out with another knee injury.

I'm thinking LJC is a combo forward. Capable of playing both the 3 and 4. If the Spurs bring him over next season, the can sign him to a 4 year deal worth less than $4 million. If they stash him for another season, they would have to use cap space or an exception to sign him.

BatManu20

Damn... I was really hoping he'd take Bonner's spot next year. This sucks. He's a lights-out shooter and would've been a good fit in our system. Shame, tbh.

Tweener forward? An unusually high amount of busts come from players of that type. Not gonna hold my breath for LJC panning out.

This. Just means yet another year of the Red Rocket. Still, I'm not giving up hope that he'll play in the NBA. He has a good shooting stroke and decent length. And he's still just 22. Even if he took another two years, he'd be younger than Manu was when he came over.
