View Full Version : Ginobili's Moment

This is Manu's game to shine. This could be a very defining moment for this possible title run and everything is setting up for Manu to have the stage to rise up.
The Heat have blitzed Parker. They have discussed Duncan. They know they have to get to guys like Green/Neal. The one guy they don't seem to be game planning for is Manu. He has not had that one great Manu game yet. Not sure if he will, but something feels like this is a moment for him to cement his part of the Big 3 in this series on what would be an unbelievable title run.
Tim/TP had that game one. Danny/Kawhi/Neal had that game 3. For a team to really grab a hold of this series, winning two in a row is likely key. They are at home, TP might be limited, Duncan is struggling some and no one is accounting for Manu.
The moment is there. Will Manu be?

Kawhi Leonard would be nice too. He's playing very well on defense/boards, but for the most part he's missing baskets he usually makes. This is considering inside shots as well

I think Manu is getting his confidence back as the series wears on, hope tonite he will erupt and remind everyone that the initial reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated

How many "Manu is ready to have a breakout game" threads are we gonna have? He's not the Manu of old. I hope he goes for 40 tonight but the chances of that happening are small. Its the same reason if Buford gives him a new contract more than 4-5 mil/year...we overpaid for him.

If Manu doesn't show up, he should retire after the season. If he can't play much in the regular season, and he completely shits the bed in the playoffs, he shouldn't re-sign. He's ripe for a great game. Never more important than right now. Having said that, TD needs a 23 point ,15 rebound and 4 blocks game tonight.

He don't need 40..15 timely points on efficient shooting, 8-10 assists, on fewer turnovers with some key steals would be a great game for him at this point and something we could sorely use

he was making them the last game. and he was quite impressive on the fast break. i had thought he'd go nuclear but took a back seat when the 3 ball rained heavy. but i'm not worried about him. he's been consistent in this series. and his rebounding and defense has been epic so far.

Exactly. Who the hell thought Danny green and Gary Neal would combine for 51 points in game 3?

He needs to go out their and dominate those midgets. Use foot work and close range hook shots to dominate the post. If Manu and TD have monster games, then the Heat and the ref$ stand no chance.

Wondering if Manu needs to score big in order to be considered a great game for him? Or should a great game for Manu be by contributing a critical moments, for example by taking over in crunch time, getting timely steels and creating for his teammates with some great passes?

Can't speak for OP but we just need him to have a solid all around efficient game..make some plays out there and impact the game without dumb turnovers or dumb gambles on defense imho

He just needs to keep doing what he's doing.

Missing the point, Nono. It's not about having 40 points or a triple double. Could that be it? Sure. But the moment will happen and you will see it. It could be an entire game, a big 4th quarter or just one meaningful shot where everything is going haywire, but one man remains calm.
The point is that everyone is talking about TP. People discuss Duncan. They praise Green/Neal/Kawhi. No one has accounted for Manu.

This is the part I disagree with. 'everyone' but the Heat. He's being defended like he is, well, Manu Ginobili.
About the rest, I hope so. As I said in other threads, I'm expecting the team to rally around a hurt Parker. Especially the vets (TD/Manu).

As much as ElNono will want to keep the expectations low, this really is the game the Spurs need Ginobili to turn back the clock. We know that at this point of his career he's good for 1 or 2 retro games in a 7-game series. Let us pray (and get our dogs to pray) that tonight is such a night.
Even something like 15, 5 and 5 would be huge, tbh.

Manu knows the opportunity this team has right now. Everyone talks about other players being aggressive, but Manu understands doing it in a big moment.
As TP navigates/manages his leg situation tonight, I can see Manu relentlessly driving the hoop looking for fouls. Hopefully his back and legs are up to the task to take hits and he can knock down the free throws. He might actually be in a better position physically than d wade right now to do that. ONE GAME. That's what is needed right now. GIT 'R DONE!

I want supermanu to be there every game, tbh... but I'm also well aware of both Miami's defensive prowess (last game notwithstanding), and Manu's role and limitations at this stage of his career.
No knock on this extraordinary thread by DPG though. We're all wishing everybody raises their game tonight and go for the jugular.

06-13-2013, 06:45 PM
Look...Manu is averaging 8 points, 3 assists, 1 steal on 38% shooting. If the guy gets two more points, 1 more assist, 1 more steal and shoots in the 40+% to have a 10,4,2 night...I'm good with that. Shooting below 40% and turning the ball over is his biggest downfall right now.
SpurPadre
06-13-2013, 06:58 PM
For all the talk on how Lebron needs to be more aggressive, that should mostly apply to Manu at this point. But with TP ailing, maybe Pop would rather have Manu keep passing the ball well instead of forcing the issue? Maybe he believes DG and KL should be the guys taking most of the shots...even Neal after his last game? At this point, I only see him scoring between 10-16 but we shall see in a bit.
