Former NBA and Iowa player Brad Lohaus accused of assault
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Former NBA and Iowa player Brad Lohaus was accused of injuring a female companion during an argument at a suburban Des Moines motel.
Police said Lohaus, 40, argued with McKinsey Gonder, 23, early Thursday and tried to keep her from leaving the room. While the two were wrestling, Gonder cut her lip and received a bump on her head, according to the police report.
Lohaus, who lives in Iowa City, was charged with simple domestic assault. The incident came under the state's domestic abuse statute because Lohaus fathered a child with Gonder, who is from Badger in north-central Iowa.
Lohaus played at Iowa from 1982-87 and was selected by the Boston Celtics in the seconds round of the NBA draft. The 6-foot-11 forward spent 11 seasons in the league, playing for the Celtics and seven other teams.
