(http://twitter.com/SpearsNBAYahoo)Heat center Chris Bosh has been fined $5,000 by the NBA for violating the league's anti-flopping rules during Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

Glad to see it. That has to have been the play where Duncan sealed him off and we got an easy lay-up right?

Not only that... went from us tying or getting within a couple to them going down and scoring 6 straight points or something.

EDIT: Nevermind just watched replay we were down 9, would have brought us to 7. Still though... pointless.

The entire game was poorly officiated. I underestimated the extent to which the NBA would go to have Miami win this. Spurs will need to go all balls out and take it

Yeah ejection is probably too harsh but damn 5k after the fact is a joke. At least a tech or something.

The fines are a joke because it takes the onus off the official to make the correct call. But to no one's surprise the league will protect their officials through thick and thin no matter how incompetent they may be.

I'm in the minority here but I don't think players are at fault for flopping, no matter how annoying we may find it watching the game as fans. If the officials are dumb enough to fall for it, then why wouldn't do it as a player?

Maybe we can get Steve javies take on this? Because I'm sure the ref had a better angle..?

The NBA: making money out of nothing at all. :lol This is a joke. Either fine your refs after the fact or award a tech in-game. But no, league will never take accountability for their egregious officiating.

The foul didn't decide the game, the turnovers, no energy, and poor games by the big three were. That fine doesn't make me feel better. That chump money is coming out of Bosh's personal Victoria's Secret fund.

Forgot about that call

Not sure if you meant it that way, but yeah, it's forgettable anyway, as if this is the one thing that prevented the Spurs from winning the game. That was just a small incident, and flops like that happen all the time. So far, I don't think there has been too much serious flopping from either side in the finals - or bad officiating.

06-14-2013, 08:23 PM
Yeah big deal. It took 2 pts off and if I remember correctly, Allen gets an and one on the other side? Either way they were horrible all night missing clear outs, missing offensive fouls and slaps for steals. Then they have Javie there to legitimize it. It's sickening. Do they really think we are that stupid and that an ex nba official is going to change our minds on something we just saw?

Andthentherewas21
06-14-2013, 10:19 PM
The Steve Javie takes are worse than the missed/poor officiating. Its a sport and I can understand a bad call or 2 given the pace of the game and the fact there are 10 people that 3 refs have to watch. But don't try to justify that shitty officiating with a retired ref who is obviously trying to find any justification for the call on the floor.

06-14-2013, 11:06 PM
Easy fix but I doubt the union would allow it....

I think they should adjust the fines based on a percentage of their pay, say 25% of their daily pay per flop, up to a max of 150% per game. (6 flops in a game would cost them a game and a half worth of pay). A percentage based fee would be fair across the board and not allow the high-paid players to flop for a cheap fine that might otherwise be harsh towards role players. $5000 might be a hefty fine for a player like Nando, but is a drop in the bucket for a player like Lebron or Kobe and may well be worth the fine if it gets you the win. Percentage based on pay is much better and makes it fair across the entire league.

Have the 4th "reserve" official reviewing plays on a monitor with the option to override calls, and not just flops... This should have been an obvious option YEARS ago.

apply a probation period to officials, say missing obvious flops over a set period of time then have them review game footage, if after so many games they continue to have "bad" officiating, they get fined $5000 after that... If it continues, suspension for a few games without pay.

I'd like to see flopping removed entirely. The only way that's going to happen is to stop blowing the whistle though, which means allow hard contact. Whatever they institute as punishment down the road on this outside of a technical foul (should be reviewable tbh if booth calls for it) isn't going to stop it. It's a product of pussifying the league with Euroball trash and the attempt to globalize the NBA by making it more friendly to weaker players from world leagues and to create an offense first environment in the NBA because that collects gate receipts.

That didn't look natural in real time. The NBA has the worst officiating of all 3 major sports.

According to the retired "expert" Steve Javie the foul occured before the flop. Sealing a guy off using good inside position is illegal apparently if it's a miami heat player who is sealed off. That's just not fair to do something like that to Lebitch & co.

lmbebo
06-15-2013, 06:13 AM
If the nba wanted to deal with Flopping, they would. $5k fines are worthless and not a deterrent.

Make a flopping call in the game worth a technical and get the ball back. Called after the game, a fine with suspension. Come down really hard on it. As Stern fined the Spurs earlier this year, it would be for the good of the game.

Bullshit they took our momentum made us play soft. And how many fastbreak layups did miami get from no calls? Allnight long like when miller elbowed kahwi in the head on his "block". When teams don't get obvious calls they become less aggresive.

Oh hell ya they would make that trade in a heartbeat. Heat owner Micky Arison probably showed up to Stern's office the next morning, a dozen roses w/thank you card in one hand checkbook in the other asking "Who do I make this out to?".

At 6:07 we're down 41-32. We get the basket and it becomes BIG as it would have put us on a 9-0 run and given us the lead at the half. It did not decide the game but it did effect the outcome.

Any given event changes the outcome of the following events. So, who knows?

Basketball's a game of momentum, and that was definitely a situation where the momentum was taken from us. Unfairly. :bang
