Though the Spurs could re-sign Devin Brown without using either exception, they so far appear hesitant about giving him a significant raise because of health concerns. Doctors have assured team officials Brown's back eventually will heal. They just can't tell them when.

Scaring away potential suitors. It's sad in some respects, given how Devin had built upon his play in the previous season, but it's a business.

How much would you offer him if you were the Spurs?

I would say just 2 years (or maybe 3 with a team option) and only about $2M a year.

There were rumors of many other teams being interested in him. But has anyone read that he's met with anyone?

Herniated discs don't heal.

I would give him no more than 1.5 mil a year. His back my screw his career up, but I'd pay that much just in case he is able to fully heal. I've never had a herniated disc in my back, but from watching a lot of wrestling, I've heard of a lot of those dudes that get them and they are able to return. If wrestlers can return from it, even though it is a fake sport they do get thrown around a lot, I think a basketball player should be able to get 100%.

brown would be smart to sign a 2 year deal with a players's option after 2 and if he stays healthy and gets better he could get a big payday

right now 2.5 million a year

I agree Ducks, but I don't think the Spurs will offer him anything more than a 1 year deal. I like Devin but it is a business and it's what have you done for me lately. They got burned on Malik's contract and I thing somebody learned their lesson.

One year guaranteed, player option for the second. We'll know soon enough if his back is healthy.

Even though doctors have reassured the Spurs that Devin's back will eventually be "as good as new", you can't really blame him if they only offer him a one year contract to wait and see.

Devin loves it here, so I'd think he would want to stay no matter what the offer. But if he gets offered ridiculous money from someone else, can you blame him if he takes it?

I would not blame him for leaving if he got guarantee decent money elsewhere

who knows if he would stay healthy 1 or 2 years and get his big payday

Devin is not a lock to change team either. I saw some reports, that his back will heal completely, but what's uncertain is when.

Too bad for Devin who always has good games in the playoffs.

PS.
I'm new to this web site. So far is seems very cool.
