View Full Version : Manu was disappointed Neal came in before him in Game 4

He didn't feel important and felt disrespected and not loved. Lead to his passive 1-5 FG game.
Game 5 changed his emotions.
Manu is deeply analytical emotional introspective and aware.

Manu needs to keep his ass in gear and keep driving strong to the hoop! Then everything will be fine. Every champion will eventually go down if they try and stay around too long, but it needs to be with all guns blazing and a bang not a whimper.
Do not go gently into the night Manu!
Really? Neal was the back up point guard, wasn't he? He didn't come in for Danny Green.

Neal came in for Tiago Splitter 40 seconds into the game

The way Manu plays, I wouldn't figure him for someone who overthinks things.

This seems dumb to me, we really just changed our starting lineup right at the outset but were still strategizing to have Manu lift the bench up. Pop didn't have his "aha moment" until the next game to start Manu was all.
If anything shouldve offended Manu it shouldve been the fact that he was out there in garbage time with the scrubs at the end of Game 4 after the Heatles had wrapped up the win. I thought that was pretty odd tbh.

Manu not coming in for Splitter cost us Game 4.
In this series Duncan has caught Manu's passes and finished far better than Tiago.
Not letting Manu come in there to play with Parker and Duncan hurt our chances a lot. So many useless pick and rolls Manu and Splitter where Splitter couldn't finish which made Miami jump Manu even more

But in that case I would argue any coach that thinks your "starting" lineup should be Duncan Kawhi Green Neal Parker is stupid and not taking the urgency of the game seriously.

So we're clear, Manu didn't say anything of what's written in the thread title...

All his comments regarding his importance in this series and what it meant to start pointed to it. I'm making this thread to say the blame on Manu is greatly exaggerated this series. It was mostly to do with not getting the touches and having to run pick and rolls with Tiago who hasn't been able to finish and having his kick out corner three option being Corey Joseph. So manu being the genius that he is was like I don't understand why you guys are mad at my play. Manu has never changed.
Manu still a regular 18 / 8 player in 33 minutes when needed

The fact is Pop played Neal in the first half before Manu and played Diaw to start the 3rd instead of Manu. He was angry and disappointed.

I'm taking pop to have made a huge mistake. Not anything wrong with Manu

I would counter that Neal was on fire the prior game (3) so it is not nearly so stupid when you go back and consider that.
Also what amazes me is how the obvious solution of starting Manu was staring us right in the face heading into game 5 and nobody seemed to realize. I knew he need to drive to the basket a LOT more, but it didn't dawn on me at all how best to position him to successfully do that.
That's interesting....please provide a link or some evidence that supports what you posted. Otherwise, what you're claiming never happened.

:lol Manu is the ultimate team player. He's perhaps one of the very few guys in the NBA that is genuinely happy when his teammates are doing extremely good, even if he's not.
He's a guy that had no problem whatsoever to play off the bench even though he was clearly starter material. Always put the team and winning over his personal numbers.
:lol this whole thread is a bunch of mind reading bullshit
