I agree....spurs know they let this opportunity get away. Again, the spurs beat themselves granted Miami capitalized on their mistakes.

The heat did not dominate this game though.

The spurs 2nd unit better get their heads out of their collective butts and just leave it on the court for game 7.

That game WILL be close also!!!

It will be a 30 point blowout. Duncan was limping around in overtime, everyone played 50 minutes. No momentum. Don't give me this believe bs you know it's over.

~O~
06-19-2013, 12:26 AM
The only way the Spurs win is depending on how Manu goes about himself. If Manu....lays an egg, you must take him out of the game. There is no other games left in the season. YOU MUST TAKE HIM OUT OF THE GAME. Give someone else his shots because HE DOES NOT WANT TO WIN. How is Tim Duncan prepared for the game...and Manu isn't? There is no excuse.

Come on..-21....and 3 points........and 8 TURNOVERS? 13 Total from the entire team. Think about the points off turnovers. Think about the momentum Ginobili gave the Heat. Think about how many fast break points the Heat had.

His play is inexcusable and I can't believe Pop still trusts him. You should still trust your players to play well but sometimes, you must make an exception.

Once again. This was not Greg Popovich. This was not Tony Parker. It was Emanuel Ginobili.

I still believe. If I take some perspective, we should all feel very fortunate that our Spurs are in this position in 2013 to put together a game like this that could make us feel even pain so deeply and greatly as we all did tonight. Like I said I believe we will win game 7, but I'm gonna take a break from the forum until Thursday. See ya'll on gameday.

Believe.

I agree wholeheartedly. You'll know in the first 5 minutes of game 7 whether Manu has it or not.

I've been a Manu supporter a long time but his play is unacceptable. He almost singlehandedly served up game 6 on a platter for the Heat.

People are upset about the Heat's confidence being high but believe me, that will work in the Spurs' favor. After big wins (especially lately in these playoffs), the Heat have a tendency to come out of the gate slow and careless.

If the Spurs can pounce and gain a big lead early, they got this.

A championship win after receiving the most demoralizing loss of all time? That's fucking history, gentlemen.

I think Pop has to sit Splitter for game 7. I don't want Bonner in as much as the next fan, but Splitter just doesn't have (hasn't found) a role in this series to help. Splitter shouldn't have been out there on last play of OT, he isn't a threat on offense, allowing Heat to just ball watch. Even having Bonner out there would have kept a Heat player on him.

Each team has won a close game, each team has won in a blowout, now what?

Couple of small things;

End of regulation, Manu slips after going for rebound against Bosh, he would have been closest defender to Allen; might of had an angle for steal, Parker had too much room to make up.

Green had time to pump fake Bosh and then shoot/draw a foul.

I saw on the replay too that Manu slipped. If he doesnt slip there maybe the pass doesnt go to Allen or Manu gets a better contest on it. :td

Another small thing TP turned his back on LeBron, lost him on screen, forcing Diaw to step away from Bosh to contest; couldn't contest RB.

its 100% mental

the spurs are good enough to win. i would dare to say that spurs look like the better team, but because they are playing a great team, there is little room for error. but same goes for the heat, make an error and the spurs make you pay.

if the spurs can mentally refocus and truly realize that they are still only one game away from winning it all, then they will be fine.

yes today hurt but you have no choice but to get over it and move on. Spurs still have a great opportunity that every single one of us would have taken before these playoffs started and i'm sure every spur player would have loved to be in this opportunity if they were told they would be in this position. 1 win away from winning a championship.

if they can mentally let this game go and use it as motivation to win game 7, then they will win it.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if we got blown out. The Spurs mentally checked out after tonight. They're demoralized. Physically and mentally taxed. And Manu is a corpse out there. As much as I'd like to believe the Spurs have a shot on Thursday, they dont. They completely shit the bed. Blew a golden opportunity. This loss will haunt this franchise and it's fans for a long time unfortunately.

06-19-2013, 11:02 AM
This is a chance for the Spurs to come out in a no lose situation. The Spurs have another chance, it could have been worse and we not have this chance at all. This is a chance for them to try and come up with one of those magnificent ball movement games and take it to the Heat. There is nothing to lose here, we got another chance. Why not just take it and try to execute and move the ball, move the ball like we did last season during that great run, while also playing great defense. No reason to be down. Have a shooters short memory and reload, fire off multiple rounds all over the place.

Absolutely no reason to quit here. Take the chance and be glad we got another one. Give it everything that we got.

It doesn't matter how we got to game 7, we are here now and if we would have had an average game from Parker and anything but a historically bad night from Ginobili we would have won.... and now we are doomed? Plz.
The Spurs have a better chance of blowing out the Heat than losing the game.
Does Wade look good to you? That knee-to-knee collision is only going to further limit him
Do you think the Heat can shoot 57% from 3 again? Chalmers go 4-5 from 3 again?
Will the Spurs shoot 27% from 3?
We got SO CLOSE and everyone is upset, but no one can make a convincing argument that we are going to lose. There is no stat or match up or drastic differences in game 6 that changes the dynamic of this series.

Yeah it has not been done before, but that does not mean anything. We could just as easily say the Spurs have never lost the NBA Finals. Or that because the wins/losses have alternated this series it is now our turn to win. Or 2013 is an odd year and the spurs win in odd years.
My brain is saying the Spurs will win.
My heart is saying the Spurs are done and Ginobili is going to have to be restrained to keep from jumping off the plane on the way back to SA.
If ANY team can do it, if it can actually be done, this team and it's culture are custom built to do it.

I remember the panic when we lost the Game 6 to the Pistons in 2005. Sure, we had the home advantage, but it is still possible.

My theory is that today they'll all be downbeat, tired and mentally exhausted - but tomorrow they'll wake up, with a little more time since the loss, ready to right their wrongs and not let the last defeat go down in history as the night they threw the title.

So today, they'll mourn - tomorrow, they'll be ready to go again.

Gotta go to Manu early. He needs to be a scorer right away, because it draws attention away from Green and more importantly Parker. The answer isn't less Manu, it's a more aggressive Manu.

Actually, I was nervous going into the second half because I knew timmy could repeat that performance and someone else would have to step up.
And when I saw that timmy was 6/6 early in the game it reminded me of game 6 or 7 against dallas when he was 12/12, which they lost.
We can win when timmy has a modest 16/8 game.

If timmy has to put up that production then it means someone else is lagging, and he's gonna go kaput in the second half, so here are the laws of averages for game 7:

SAS
Timmy doesnt perform as well, but nothing wrong with a 20/10 game
Tony does better (even though he had 20 pts, it took too many FGAs, not good)
Manu does better - he's not gonna have another career TO game, but he may not have a game 5 performance either. Heat are playing him for the pass, so he's gonna have to make for the basket or take short open 2s, that usually gets his game going.
Green - does better
Neal - performs the same
Kawai - i think he'll have a quiet 16/7 game. He's a barometer of how your team's doing, if he has to dump in 20 then that means parker or manu needs help.

Our TOs go down, but also our FTs, we're not gonna get 28 of them again, but our 3pt percentage goes up.

HEAT
LBJ doesnt perform as well
Wade, hmm he may do better since he only had 14
Bosh - he may do better too, only had 10
Chalmers - this is where we lost offensively. When he gets 20 you're not gonna win. He won't get 20 back to back. I knew we could be in trouble after he got 6 early on.
Allen and Battier - they dont do as well

Their 3pt percentage comes down.

Lots of IFS before game 7 like is wade really hurt, timmy, etc. As for rest it's a wash for both teams.

As with any game I've predicted going in, my statements haven't changed: Be EVEN in rebounds (we were ahead), EVEN in FTs (we were ahead), and LESS in TOs (we had less), and we'll be in the same position to win or lose. They made 1, ONE, more basket then we did, and all those Manu turnovers. This series is far from over but like the others will be tied as usual somewhere around the 3 minute mark of the 3rd.

You know what guys? After listening to Tony and Tim speak today, talk about their team dinner last night, and about how they've moved on and how confident they feel about this next game, I feel like were going to win this next one.

I just feel it. Were going to win game 7.

If they cover Green so closely again, Duncan will have more 1 on 1 chances.

Why the heck didn't Manu get involved offensively sooner the way the Heat were covering Green? Maybe Pop needs to run more jumpstart play or two for Manu right out of the gates.

i dont like the spurs chances in game 7. Heat are going to come out on fire with the home crowd ROCKING behind them. Game 7 is very hard to win for the away team, even if its Pop and the boys. the only chance they win is if they come out and play their best game of the season

The tightened rotation has spelled doom for the spurs recently. When we lost to oKC, the rotation was down to Parker, Duncan, Manu, Leonard, Jackson.

Looking at the minutes distribution of last night's game just flat out scares me.

I agree. Their going to need help from the bench to win game 7. Splitter will have to step up. I actually think more TD/Splitter will be needed. We can't ask Tim to score 30 again.

I don't believe for a second that the Spurs will just come to a Game 7 of the NBA Finals acting like a child whose dog just died! Hell, if they wanna feel bad about game 6 do it after kicking ass in game 7! This pity party is getting old!

I would even rather have Corey Joseph with his practically zero playoff experience and barely any NBA experience than last night's Manu again. He couldn't be much worse.

Maybe Manu will miraculously play well. If he does, we have a good chance. I just don't see it happening though. He's too hot/cold. And it's been cold about 80% of the time. Then when it's "hot" time it's usually just lukewarm. :\

if we win, game 6 doesn't matter anymore. all it will end up being is "a great game, fantastic finish" but irrelevant in the scope of things. it won't hurt anymore. not at all. we can look back and laugh "remember when we choked game 6 away?"

if we lose, barring the impossible event of an even more heartbreaking loss, game 6 will go down as the biggest heartbreak in Spurs history. i know the 0.4 game itself was worse because of the miraculous shots timmy made, but the fact that this was a finals game and title clincher obviously would rank this #1 on the wall of shame.

On this stage, I just can't see Tim and co folding.

If the Spurs at still within striking distance at half time (down by 5 or less), then I can see them pulling this off. I'm really scared of their mental state and the high the Heat will be riding.

I really hope someone else steps up. Maybe Gary Neal, maybe Boris, maybe Manu ... we know Tim will be Tim (25/15). And I think Tony (20/10) and Kawhi (10/15 and great D on Media Bron) will be there.
Pop needs to give Green more shots. They don't have to be 3s, but need to get Green in rhythm. 2 pointers are ok too.
Manu needs to show up. Man, I wish T-Mac could contribute something ... But I doubt he will see the floor.

My love,my Spurs, bring this song with you as you enter the storm of battle:

"I'm With You"

I'm standing on a bridge
I'm waiting in the dark
I thought that you'd be here by now
There's nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I'm listening but there's no sound

Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home?

It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand?
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

I'm looking for a place
I'm searching for a face
Is anybody here I know
'Cause nothing's going right
And everything's a mess
And no one likes to be alone

Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home?

It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand?
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Oh why is everything so confusing
Maybe I'm just out of my mind
Yeah-he-yaa, yeah-he-yah, yeah-he-yah, yeah-he-yah, yeah!

It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand?
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you
I'm with you...

Unless Tmac gets some run the alternative (Neal) might not be better.

I don't think Neal would have been worse than what Manu did in game 6. Manu was beyond terrible in game 6, and Neal's game (with no Manu, Tony, Timmy) against Miami earlier this year was actually pretty solid until the very end of the game when there was nobody else on the floor helping Gary out and he got swarmed every single possession in the last 2-3 minutes.

I'm not advocating Manu be benched to start the game or anything, but if he's shitting the bed again, Pop needs to stop relying on him. He has proven he just cannot snap out of it anymore once that snowball starts rolling downhill.

I would be more than happy if Manu just comes out and plays well. I'm just not expecting it at all.

That's a great way to look at it. Only problem though, would be the psychological letdown from Game 6, whereas if the Spurs had indeed climbed back from an 0-3 deficit to tie it at 3-3, they'd have psychological momentum on their side.

First 3-4 minutes will tell a lot about this team. obviously, it's about you finish more so than how you start, but if this team can have a small lead, or not fall behind too much and keep the crowd in check much like they did for most of game 6, then they have a great shot. But just, please let the Spurs win this fucking game.

Splitter being more mobile than Tim yet he was in terrible position which forced him to foul quickly last game is something I am not looking forward to. He's already a bum on offense, rebounding, defense shouldn't be next. Really starting to dislike the guy.

- Need to run Duncan in the post as much as possible, no more perimeter shit, tbh

- Obviously need Tony at his best

- Win the rebound battle

- Either Green, Neal or Manu need to step up from 3-point range

- One of Diaw or Splitter absolutely must be effective enough to buy Duncan minutes

- Don't fall asleep on their shooters

- No careless turnovers

- No stupid lineups

- Hope Wade doesn't have a flukish game with his jump shot
