View Full Version : Are you going to watch Game 7?

Spurs and Mavs fan

I just can't. I'm going to check the score of the game when it's all over and see who won. I feel like I've lost a week's worth of emotional energy and just can't watch four more quarters of basketball in this Finals.

Yes. I'll watch every second no matter the score.

I really can't believe the Spurs "fans" here that will not watch a possibly historic game 7. I am skeptical of our chances to win too, but guess what? The Heat have to win for them to actually win. It's up for grabs, anybody could win.

Unless you believe watching the Spurs hexes them, then there is absolutely no excuse outside of real-life emergency to not watch this game.

Win or lose, we know we're a legitimate team going forward. This was not some fluke chance of us getting there, we were that good. We will just need to address our bigs and the Manu situation.

Although, the truth is, if there is gonna be another game like game 6... In either way you are not heart-attack-free :lol

The more I think about- while this is definitely the worse Spurs loss ever- they have an outside chance.
It all depends on their mental recovery.
After blowing a 10 point lead they came back. After blowing a 5 point lead they came back in overtime and didn't give up.
I'm watching.

Are you guys going to watch the Heat trophy presentation ??

Are you going to watch Timmy to score 35 points 20 rebounds 5 assists 4 block but still lose the game ?

Are you going to watch your hero spurs players to congratulate on Heat for their back to back champioonship?

Are you going to watch our beloved players to cry in Mimai via national TV?

Are you going to watch a roll win game for the Heat?

Are you going to hear the "Seven nation army "chant by the home crowd when celebrating the 2012-2013 NBA world champion on their own arena?

Are you?

There's really only two scenarios:

1. Miami blows the fuck out of the Spurs by 20 plus

2. A crazy close game that goes down to the wire

Obviously, the first is a virtual guarantee with the second a remote, unlikely possibility. But either way, I'm not sure I can do it emotionally. Not after that Game 6. It would be like watching 0:04 and then Game 7 off 2006 against Mavs back to back.

REALLY?

Of course im gonna watch.

We havn't been in the finals since 2007, we havn't won a championship in 6 years, hell yes im gonna watch it. And we're gonna fvckin win it too.

Heat think they have this in the bag, they think its their championship already. Its 3-3, both teams have won 3 games. Guess what, we havn't lost back to back games since December with Parker, Manu and Duncan playing...but of course no one will be talking about that.

Spurs have already set a precedent for how they play after crushing playoff defeats that put them on the brink of elimination:

2004 vs. Lakers
2012 vs. OKC

The Spurs played both games similarly. They came out on fire, leading for the entire first half, but then they ran out of gas, the Lakers/Thunder made runs, and the Spurs were unable to hold the lead. I expect exactly the same thing to happen Thursday.

So am I going to watch? Am I going to watch one final tease, get my hopes up, think maybe this time will be different, then SPLAT!?

I don't think I can stomach that. I watched the two games I mentioned above, but I had no faith the Spurs would win either one. And neither one of those games was two days after the Spurs gave away an NBA title.

People who criticize fans for not watching game 7 ... I honestly feel you might not be as big of a fan as those who won't watch. For them, the pain will be so great they might not be able to stand it. So if you criticize them, in my eyes, you're really calling yourself out as not being as passionate about the Spurs.

Hell yes. This team has come too far to let one loss deter them from keeping their eye on the prize. Yes, the loss last night hurt, but that's the nature of sports - anything can happen. Every player on the Spurs knows this will be the last game, so expect them to give it everything they've got. It can be a brutal road to glory, but it's worth it.....

Friday mourning at around 9:30am...3:30amET I will click on Spurstalk and read the title of the first few posts, just as I did today (there was one saying something like "We are Champs" today but luckily it wasn't the first one I saw).

That will be the most intense few seconds of probably my whole life and ST is getting them (and yes, thee might be more important stuff than basketball, but what comes down to only like 2-3 seconds?).

If we won I will just scream and hug everyone that comes my way...Actually I'm not sure what I'm ging to do, but hopefully we will find out
If we lost your posts will be what keeps me alive since I will feel that my pain is shared and I'm not the only one crying!

I'm not getting into the 'who is a bigger fan..' debate, because it's stupid and subjective. I just don't get why someone would NOT watch the game. This is the only reason that seasons are played, for the chance to win a championship. Every single game up to this point has been about getting here. So, watch it to enjoy it. If you're just going to check the score on your phone, then you're just interested in seeing numbers -- not basketball.

How much excitement is there seeing that a number on one side of the screen is higher than the other side of the screen if you didn't watch it happen? If you just want to see numbers go up and down, play the stock market.

temujin
06-19-2013, 02:28 PM
Obviously not.

For multiple reasons.
1) NBA games live are borderline unwatchable, with so many useless interruptions.

2) It will 3 AM and I will be busy in the morning. Work >>>>>>>>> any basketball game (not played by MY kids).

3) It's most lilely going to be really ugly.
I can watch it the next day. At least the first quarter.

Ok, but what if the Spurs win? Is it better to find out over the course of three hours or three seconds? Just read the sports page, then. Do you like the sport or the scores? I just don't get it. I'm not decrying your fandom, or whatever. I just don't see the point in even "following" a team if you're not going to experience the games, regardless of outcome.

Game 7 is different, an exception to the rule.

I watched Games 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 on TV, but for this last game - and particularly after last night's terrible defeat - I just don't have the guts to watch three more hours of basketball with each hope potentially waiting to be dashed. I'd rather have the news delivered quickly.

Again, I wouldn't be like this with most Spurs games. Just games of this type.

I really don't get people who don't watch pivotal games like this. You've invested all the time and effort following the Spurs since October, and now you're going to give up at the climax of the season, and avoid one of the most historic games in Spurs history? Why? This is what it's all about. In several years time we might not even be making the playoffs, let alone the finals, so let's enjoy it while we can. Win or lose, it's been an awesome season, and has totally over-delivered on what we expected. As somebody said in another thread, we're playing with house money right now.

Even if you can't bring yourself to get your hopes up, just watch it anyway. If you expect nothing, then you can't be disappointed.

I'll do what I've done every other game this playoffs. Probably watch the first quarter and then switch to boxscore while the baby is going down. Probably leave it on boxscore to ensure the yelling is kept to a minimum so we don't wake the baby. Follow the game thread and the boxscore, and if possible turn it back on the fourth.

Something changed and now I'm able to watch too.

I'm just not sure, that I'm up to this task. I'm weak.

I may be able to live with a blowout. I may even be able to live with onother ending like game 6. But my biggest fear is, that some stupid calls or one stupid call in the end will cost us. Not to pre-blame the refs, but I'm not sure I could handle this.

I won't watch a Heat blow out if it comes to that but I also don't think I have the heart to have it broken again.

As much as I want to. I'm afraid to jinx them. Much like I'm avoiding all sports related tweets as well.

Plus, I get too worked up when I watch... Win or lose, if watch, I'll be up elated or depressed all night.

Ah, who am I kidding? Watching live broadcast. Head says we're fucked, heart says we can do it. Believe.
