View Full Version : Duncan: "Tomorrow when that ball goes up well all be ready"

Timmy took all the team to dinner after the game: "We know the opportunity we let slip through our fingers. We're not going to dwell on that." "We just want to get to the game ... We like our chances."

Anyways, Listen to your leader people and stop with calling your team done. I said it in many threads, the spurs figured something out with Diaw in Game 5, and it carried for a good portion of Game 6. If we clean up some stupid mistakes and execute better down the stretch instead of running isos we should win by double digits.

That's my boy TD! That, my friends, is what a true leader says and does. Hell, Tim came out of the box in Game 6 demonstration a level of determination and will that was undeniable. I expect the same from him on Thursday.

have you seen the crazy shit manu has been saying since last night???

from today: "We've been through a lot of stuff, nothing like this."
"We can't be crying about what happened yesterday. ... Life goes on."
"Still down. After a blow like that, it's not easy to get back up."

SO YEAH, GOOD TO HEAR DUNCAN IS FINE!

NOW LISTEN TO TP:
"If you told us we'd be tied 3-3 with chance to win a title, we'd sign it. We just have to be positive and forget Game 6."
"It's a great challenge. We know we can beat them here."
Parker said last night’s loss is no different from a blowout. Said these players aren’t affected by a loss like that.
"if you're not ready tomorrow you're going to regret it for the next 10-15 years."

That part is very true. I hope all of the Spurs that are playing tomorrow see that. Regardless of the bullshit that went on during game 6, the Spurs still have a shot on Thursday. To throw it all away would make them all regret it later.

Tim proving how much of a legend he is! We all love Parker, and through the years we've loved Manu and Pop too, but Duncan has always been the face of the franchise, hell he is the franchise! Regardless of what happens, this will not ruin the lasting image we have of Duncan. We will always remember him as the legend he is. Anyone who doesn't trust Duncan isn't a true Spurs fan. Compared to Duncan, screw Parker, Manu, and Pop. Duncan has always been our man and will always be! In Duncan we trust! I believe now! GO SPURS GO!!!

Manu sounds like he might be done.

I really thought Tim and Tony sounded confident today. And Manu acknowledged last night that the team didn't play particularly well and can play much better.

This team is VERY mature. Danny Green is going to be looking for redemption. Kawhi is a stoic. He's not going to be fazed. You could see that in OT last night where he nearly won it for us.

After listening to Tim and Tony and Manu from last night, I really do feel were going to win tomorrow guys. Remember, the Heat havn't won 2 straight in 7 straight games. We've got this. I FEEL IT.

Duncan will show up, Tony will show up.. my hope is that Manu either doesn't make it on that bus or he comes to score not pass the ball. He's a turnover machine when he thinks he has someone open and they never are. Everyone else will fall in line when the guys hit the floor, Danny and Kawhi will be ready to go when they get the ball in there hands. Short leash on Manu though, turnovers start happening and we gotta go Gary Neal/Diaw something.. anything else. Let's just hope that Pop doesn't manage minutes in this game, can't afford to be sitting anyone for any amount of time unless its 30 seconds from the 1st to 2nd, and 3rd to 4th

06-19-2013, 02:33 PM
The Spurs are professionals. They don't dwell on bad games. The only concern going forward is fatigue. Game 7 will be the third game in five nights. However, Miami expended even more energy than San Antonio in game 6 in order to make that comeback. LBJ and Dwyane Wade are both roughly the same age as Parker. Wade's knee was also swollen. I expect two champions to duke it out on Thursday and leave everything on the court. Should be a great game.

First of all, it's Boobie4three, but maybe you just pronounce it free. Some do you know. Secondly, the Nero analogy was in reference to the general attitude here that everything is hunky dory with the Spurs and Tuesday's letdown was just an anomaly. I'm betting the Spurs players themselves aren't living in such a dreamworld. They knew full well they HAD to finish off the Heat last night. They COULD'NT let them get off the mat, but that's what they did, and consequently, there won't be any celebration in Spurville Thursday night.:(

I just said it elsewhere. Yeah, the stats show . . . blah blah, heartbreaking defeat . . . blah blah, how do they come back, fatigue, etc etc. I know.

But Tim Duncan tasted defeat at the Finals level last night. If you think he doesn't want to wash that taste out with champagne while hugging the LOB, you're insane. Timmy D is going to show up in a big, big way. I can't guarantee his shots will fall, or that ball movement will happen or that the refs won't screw them over or that the building won't collapse from the irony of Heat fans chanting 'refs suck' . . . but I can guarantee that Tim Duncan will play his motherfucking heart out because he wants it bad.

An aging core centered around 37 year old Duncan gets unceremoniously bounced from the 2012 playoffs after flirting with invincibility, after posting the league's best record in 2011, after two down years, after taking their 2007 title defense to the WCF against eventual champion Lakers, after winning the 2007 title against Lebron's hapless Cavs, after a monstrous 2006 series against eventual champion Dallas where Duncan played out of his mind in Game 7, after defeating defending champion Detroit for the 2005 title, after a tough loss on a once-in-a-lifetime shot from Fisher and the eventual champion Lakers, after winning the 2003 title. After 9 years of that, and years of being written off as incapable of competing, after the youthful Thunder took the Western throne, they're about to play Game 7 of the Finals against the Heat. If everyone shows up the Spurs will win without a doubt. Even after Lebron had a big 4th QTR he still almost gave the game away with 2TO's and the Spurs went up because of them. If we get 1 Rebound Spurs win or make 1 more FT Spurs win. This with only Duncan and Leonard showing up 2 play. Still don't know why they went away from Duncan in the 2nd half. I have a good feeling Spurs win game 7. Everyone is doubting them again and thats when they really show up. They were counted out this whole Playoffs so to top it off with a Game 7 win on the Road would be icing on the cake. They know this is probably the last chance and I expect Manu to actually show up for the Spurs this game. Just gotta Believe! GO SPURS GO!!!!!!:lobt2:

And Parker looked like he aged 10 years.

Yup...and as it turns out, I was wrong about that. The Spurs will win Game 7, though, just like you predicted. Unless, of course, they lose...then we're both wrong. Oh, well.

To me, this was like Game 5 against Memphis (there's only been one of those, so you all know what I mean). The Spurs managed to come back at the last second and steal it in overtime, but even they knew they weren't really a threat to win the series. Just because a team has a deflating loss does not put them at a huge disadvantage for the next game. The Spurs showed that they could dominate a "motivated" Miami, and they saw every little adjustment Spoelstra could possibly make to slow them down. Now, Pop can make his last adjustments.

I expect Duncan to have another good game, he didn't seem too tired, so I don't think the tank is empty yet. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get a triple-double, since Miami knows they can't stop him one-on-one anymore. So long as Pop makes sure the shooters are ready, it should be fine.

The biggest concerns are making sure Parker's good to go and that someone steps up from beyond the three-point line other than Green. If Danny is the only player the Heat chose not to double off of, then the other guys have to make them pay. A Game 3--like performance from Neal or a Game 5--like performance from Ginobili could be the difference.

TP needs to drive more. If LeBron is on him he needs to give the ball up and run him through screens.

That forces switches, which isn't a bad thing. To be honest, I have no idea why the Spurs go iso when Lebron is on Parker. If anything, doing a PnR with Duncan then forces a trap with Bosh and James on Tony, which takes away any rim protection at all.

Good post, except the fact that the Pistons won the title in 2004, not the Lakers.

I have no doubt that Duncan shows up in Game 7 and gives everything he's got.

However, I doubt that Parker, Manu, Pop, etc. will do the same.

Jeez man... if we lived in your pessimistic world, Spurs would be drafting Sam Bowie every year. Parker, Manu, and Pop will show up.

Don't underestimate the "last chance" factor the big three will have tomorrow. Also Miami is treating game 6 as if they won the whole damn thing. Not saying the spurs will win, but folks are crowning the heat way too early.

Your suggestion holds no water, please leave, thanks for your contributions.

Celtics won in 08.

believe in what we have, and what we can give, were gonna give it everything we have and bring the best--regardless of what some may see--heat fans are lame--all they can do is leave halfway and return halfway, not real. Duncan is the greatest of all time, so to shall he be always--win or lose hes incredibly awesome and nobody can take that away from him---EVER.

Few Notes: Spurs are 4-0 after a loss, and the way the series has gone it's got a trend, nobody has won 2 games in a row and you would think Miami is the most pressured to win because their the ones who have to win back to back, but the spurs know this is their time to finish it "You delay my prize; once it's not gonna happen again!" I can see Duncan extremely motivated for game 7--as for other stats--leave it on the table... bring it all for it all, whatever happens we stand united.... and always know were not HEAT BANDWAGONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thank you.

great read. Duncan is a special type of player/competitor/leader. I love his quotes about putting their feelings out in the open. They probably drank a lot but I imagine it was a therapeutic time. It definitely gives me more resolve.

Manu's spirit is totally defeated. That's the reason the spurs will lose tomorrow. Manu is the only person who can create dribble penetration when Parker is being guarded by James. In quarters 3 and 4 when Duncan has no legs left and Parker is guarded by Bron there are no legit scoring options. The Heat just leaving a man on Green makes him useless on the offensive end because he can only do one thing. I just hope it will be a good game at this point because the Spurs scorers are beat down and tired.

If his spirit is totally defeated he is not a strong minded player and mentally weak with a game 7 coming up! I refuse to believe he checked out and is mentally defeated, if that is true he is scared and soft mentally! PERIOD! I hope thats not the case as he is known to me as a Olympic champ and NBA champ and rose to the occasion alot!
