hell...he makes more than Popovich and R.C. Buford and every Spurs assistant combined. The only guy that makes more than Manu is Peter Holt himself. Manu is just 900,000 short of totaling Duncan, Green, and Leonards salaries combined also. What an investment. I sure hope we give this dude 5 mil/yr for the next two years because obviously we owe him that according to some people on here. That would be aces....Oh and give Splitter a 10 mil/yr contract as well.

Fucktard. Salaries don't just happen out of the blue. When Manu was at his prime he was paid average or below average for what he was worth. So, basically, if you look at his wages throughout the years you can see he has never been overpaid.
His next contract will not be 13/14 mil a year - that's a given. It will be probably 1/3 of that, IF any.
You are just another idiot posting the same stupid shit over and over again without having a fucking clue about what you are talking about.

so?
If I remember correctly,
It was Duncan who had his pay cut who made that possible so he can stay with the Spurs.
He owed Duncan for that, not to us.

Again - you need to say it right here in your own post that you don't understand how salaries and contracts are drawn in the NBA. Please say it and everything will be alright. Don't change subjects. Just say you don't know what you are talking about.

What part of fact am I making up? Manu made 14 mil...Parker made 12 mil..and Duncan made less than 10 mil this year? Manu is the highest paid player on the Spurs this year. I know that may upset you because he is pathetic right now and he's your favorite player...but I cant help ya with that. I call 'em as I see 'em. Manu is done.

he owes Duncan for keeping the team together...the pay cut allowed the team to sign De Colo, while also maintaining free agents Boris Diaw, Patty Mills & Green.

I'm as pissed off at Ginobili as the next fan, but doing a salary comparison, at this point in the season, is irrelevant. Manu has been the Spurs highest paid player all season long. He just needs to get his head out of his ass and make more positive plays and less negative ones.

You want to run a successful franchise you don't overpay for the past but pay for what you'll get for the future. Manu was never under paid. He was playing for a roster spot in his first two years. He should be grateful he was given a shot at a roster spot.

Obviously, it would be crazy to pay Manu and Tiago. I mean, Desagana Diop is available as a center. Or maybe we could sign Chris Kaman. Or Johan Petro.
And hey, we need a guard with some offense off the bench? We can go after Nate Robinson. Or Jerry Stackhouse. Or maybe Derek Fisher.
There's just a world of possibilities out there for the taking.

It's funny to watch the Manu nuthuggers fail to grasp the simple point of this thread: drawing a remarkable juxtaposition between the fact that Manu is (arguably) the highest paid player on the roster this year and yet is playing so bad in these Finals the Heat might as well introduce him along their starters before Game 7. That takes talent.

Unless you're stupid or you started to watch the NBA yesterday, you would know that there's a thing called the CBA, that contracts are negotiated in 2, 3, 4, etc year terms, that they include things such as minimum raises, etc etc etc.
It's not just Manu's contract. Tim's deal looked stupid when he looked done two seasons ago, and the Spurs couldn't even get out of the first round.
Manu's deal wasn't a year to year deal. The Spurs thought that was his value at that time, and they signed off on it. This summer, a new deal will have to be made if both parties want to continue together, and it will be adjusted to new realities.
Everybody 'grasps' the stupidity of this thread, you don't have to be a Manu nuthugger at all.

The fact that you continue to explain how or why Manu is (arguably) the highest paid player suggests you don't get it. Or if you do get it, you're doing it wrong.

this. yeah he's obviously way overpaid for what he brings, but in the end it shows that we take care of our own, and that has a ripple effect with younger guys. all we need from Manu is not be a shithead and do what he can to help us to win game 7. I'm sure Pop and RC will figure out how much Manu is worth for the future.

The fact you're still arguing this absolutely retarded thread guarantees you're stuck on stupid. Stop embarrassing yourself now.
There was no scenario under which the Spurs wouldn't be paying Manu what he's being paid this season, no matter if he was disastrous or if he looked like Jordan. Hindsight is great, it just doesn't work when you're about to sign a 4 year deal.

There's plenty of reasons. There's what you pointed out, there's the fact that the free agent market is competitive, and you see stupid money thrown at marginal players (hello Joe Johnson), and there's the fact that you don't really know what a player is going to look like 4 years later, and there's also business aspects beside the sports aspect (ie: Kobe getting a $30 million deal because he's a publicity magnet). I agree Manu has looked overpaid this season, but that's not that an uncommon occurrence with aging players.
